Another KOTOR reference in Rogue One, the black senator (you can see her in the trailers, this isn't a spoiler) is from Taris according to the Visual Guide. I got the Visual Guide for Christmas, it is a great book if you're into all the detailed stuff. This isn't the first time Taris has been mentioned in the new canon, but I thought it was neat. Maul's first appearence in The Clone Wars is unsettling as fuck.
Oh thats cool, I don't know if it was like this in the old canon, but in the new Canon the X-Wing was originally meant to be the Empire's main fighter, but cooperate rivalry and political factors caused Sienar's TIE Fighter to be adopted instead.

I think I prefer the new canon more though, Imperial dickwaving and bureaucracy getting in the way of a superior design sounds very much like the Empire.
So there is another imperial ANH character in R1, that people more then likely missed since he isn't actually named (I think) [sp]http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hurst_Romodi hes the General that reports directly to Tarkin a couple times in the film. He tells Tarkin that Scarif is under attack, and Tarkin tells him to order the death star to fire on Scarif. In ANH hes one of the generals siting around the table in the death star conference scene.[/sp] [editline]26th December 2016[/editline] The Visual Guide gives a hint at the very early story for R1 [sp]Jyn was originally a seasoned Rebel agent and a Sargent. The first mission the story was the strike on Edau, which i'm guess is probably what the concept from Comic-Con 2015 was meant to represent, because it was several U-Wings on a rainy planet[/sp]
I do like the fact that the Death Star conference room meeting has an empty seat in ANH and it could now be canon to be [sp]krennic's seat[/sp]
I do like the fact that the Death Star conference room meeting has an empty seat in ANH and it could now be canon to be [sp]krennic's seat[/sp]
There is more then one empty seat actually. I think Pablo said [sp]One of them wasn't Krennic? I'm not sure[/sp]
Just saw Rogue One. It was a much better starwars movie than episode 7. The beginning half of the movie had some pacing issues and things jump around, but the second half is fantastic.
Cassian's homeworld is Fest, a planet that first appeared in Dark Forces 1
Cassian's homeworld is Fest, a planet that first appeared in Dark Forces 1
More Katarn connections lol. Also, that [sp]asteroid place in the beginning was totally nar shaddaa, afaik that place isn't canon anymore.[/sp]
More Katarn connections lol. Also, that [sp]asteroid place in the beginning was totally nar shaddaa, afaik that place isn't canon anymore.[/sp]
[sp]It's canon, albeit not much history is said about it[/sp]
More Katarn connections lol. Also, that [sp]asteroid place in the beginning was totally nar shaddaa, afaik that place isn't canon anymore.[/sp]
No, Nar Shaddaa is canon, it showed up in the comics http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nar_Shaddaa
No, Nar Shaddaa is canon, it showed up in the comics http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nar_Shaddaa
Thank fuck, they'd be foolish to kick that to the curb.
Thank fuck, they'd be foolish to kick that to the curb.
It is probably safe to say most planets will stay canon. Now how the planets are portrayed may change, like how Rebels turned Kessel into a planetoid instead of an asteroid. Which apparently is how George Lucas always considered it: "The series used designs and concepts created for Kessel by Star Wars creator George Lucas, who developed its appearance, culture, and economy." I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Ships and technology from the old canon would eventually appear in the new.
I feel like most of the events that happened pre-prequel in the star wars timeline still happened but their details on how they happened will vastly differ
Well there is certainly influence of the old EU. The Mandalorians had a war with the Old Republic, Malachor was controlled by the Sith and there was a giant battle there. Not to mention the design of the Hammerheads. There was also the Jedi Training ship from Clone Wars that was inspired by the Jedi Knight/Consular ship from SWTOR, it even had the Republic's logo from that game on the doors in the ship.
I do still wish they would just canonize the two games, it would fit perfectly fine.
I think Malachor would clash with that. Two sith Strongholds in the same system?
if the new republic is split up over a system, i don't see why the sith wouldn't have conquered multiple worlds in a system.
Spoilers for Rogue One inside (duh)
Novelizations of the movies aren't canon, only the movies are
Novelizations of the movies aren't canon, only the movies are
the novelizations are usually based on the screenplays, and iirc pablo said as long as it doesn't clash with the film it's fine. when in doubt, defer to the film.
Really hope Cassian wasn't just a discount kyle katarn and hopefully they still bring him into the series. He will still work regardless is he got the plans or not.
Really hope Cassian wasn't just a discount kyle katarn and hopefully they still bring him into the series.
Novelizations of the movies aren't canon, only the movies are
The novels are canon, but if there are contradictions go with the movie.
-video-
I linked this earlier, I didn't embed it because of the thumbnail.
Really hope Cassian wasn't just a discount kyle katarn and hopefully they still bring him into the series. Other then Kanan using a lightsaber and blaster they have nothing in common. Personality is completely different Cassian is a rebel intelligence officer. Kyle was a merc/smuggler that sometimes worked for the Rebellion or New Republic. Jyn is closer to Kyle then either of them.
Carrie Fisher died this morning. I cannot contemplate how this will affect the writing for Ep VIII and IX...
Carrie Fisher died this morning. I cannot contemplate how this will affect the writing for Ep VIII and IX...
I was just coming here to post about picking up SW: Starfighter on Steam (used to be one of my favorite games on the original XBOX), and then saw the headline pop up about Fisher. Sad to hear about her passing, thoughts are with her family.
They already finished shooting Ep VIII, but for IX, they'll probably write her out and make her alive somewhere in the universe.
Actually (Episode 8)[sp]I've heard reliable rumours they future proofed this episode, Leia was meant to be in coma for most of the movie and depending on her health improving or deteriorating either wake up from it or stay in it/die[/sp]
We should do a discord chat/stream of 4. Who's down?
