Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

X-Wings could have been tweaked, but I think the Falcon being a unique, named ship should remain.
But to be fair, it was only 30 years between ROTJ and TFA. America is still using military equipment 30+ years old IRL, or newer equipment with similar designs.
I think I would've preferred it if they used a new ship rather than the falcon.
but why would you ever use any other ship when you can have the legendary Millenium Falcon

Also I doubt military research spending was high on the priority list when they were trying to fill the gap that was the empire
Considering the New Republic also is heavily Demilitarized.
I honestly hope they don't keep adding new TIE fighters, "central pod with more or or less whacky shaped wings" is getting kind of old.
I really think that Fighter, Interceptor, and Bomber is diverse enough. Hell, even Defender is fine as long as it serves as the closest thing to a hybrid.
Then you start getting shit like this.

Fucking why.
I like the TIE Avenger and TIE Phantom (not the cloaking part though)
I'd like to see the legends Rebel slang for TIE Fighters to come back (Eyeball, Squint, etc)
i have a huge soft spot for the less weird but sharp-winged ones
mainly the Avenger, Interceptor and now the Striker
this is my favorite "slap a tie ball on everything" vehicle

Don't forget the TIE/D and it's tuning forks for wings
I do like that the Defender's cockpit isn't an exact copy of the regular TIE cockpit

I was looking through the TIE-Defender legends page on Wookieepedia, the Diagram from Star wars Rebels is almost identical to the one from "The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels". The Rebels one is a little less detailed.

For reference I was talking about the TIE/D from Dark Empire, not the defender.
should have said Droid then lol
It was also in the Rogue Squadron 1 mission that had World Devastator attacking Mon Calamari.

Chris Pratt stole the video
What lego starwars set would you guys reccomend? I was thinking something in the 100-120 dollar range, and if its a TIE it's gotta be something substantive :v:
Which era do you like the most. Want just a vehicle or a "story"? Are you interested in unique pieces?
Gotta give us more substance to work with here man.

these are near the price point, but anything in the 100$ range is more of a playset than something you could display. unless you wanna shell out an extra 80$ and pay 200$ for a UCS set

The minifig scale ships are pretty solid, and you can probably get two at your price range. I'm looking at getting the new Y-Wing for display.
Personally I'm a huge fan of the microfighter line, they're $10 each, small scale sets that are pretty neat. They're a little oddly proportioned sometimes, but to have the ship and play with it is neat if you want something like a desk toy. I got the microfighter Y Wing and U Wing today.
Not sure if it's been posted yet; first cast photo for the Han Solo spinoff.

Which one's meant to be Han?
Which one's meant to be Han?
Donald Glover.
I'm willing to give it a shot but ehhhh. I still stand that this would've been better off a comic, book, or game
Chewie.
The current release date for the film in May 25th 2018. They started principle photography yesterday.

I wonder if they're just reusing the Falcon set from EP7/8 or made a new one that looks 'newer'
I guess they could just modify the existing Falcon set to look newer.

For those who don't want to read the new Aftermath book
Spoilers for it obviously.

They dropped the first person view used in the previous preview. I'm mildly disappointed

I think we already saw footage from this episode in the Midseason trailer, and it wasn't first person.

I hear Yularen has the same Voice Actor from Clone Wars.

I think that was an introduction to Kallus being the star of the episode, as in "who's this, OH it's Kallus", shame they blew their load by showing us early really, it was a neat looking way of going about it.
i can already see how that plays out
Thrawn is a cruel bastard
I'm happy Yularen is back.
Also to those say a Han Solo movie is unnecessary. If the movie wasn't made, a similar story would probably be told in novel or comic form. It was in the old EU
There would be no escaping it. A story would be told

I have no problem that Han and co are getting some background, I just think it would be better served as a comic or novel rather than trying to recast iconic characters (I only ever like that if it's a reboot or similar).
But, I am prepared to optimistically watch the movie and i'll probably like it. I just think it's a bit of a waste. But i'm sure some people thought the same about Rogue One so i'll hold judgement.
