Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN
But to be fair, it was only 30 years between ROTJ and TFA. America is still using military equipment 30+ years old IRL, or newer equipment with similar designs.
It was lazy and wreaks of nostalgiawanking, especially when in the art book there's a bunch of really cool and interesting designs they could have used. Both for the X-Wings and TIE Fighters.
The new X-Wing doesn't really bother me much because that's a successful line of fighters so it makes sense that they would be flying a "Super X-Wing" or something by the time of TFA.
It's the TIE Fighters looking like old style TIE Fighters that really rubs me the wrong way. That one doesn't work because TIE Fighters were already on the way out and were being replaced by the Interceptors. If they absolutely needed to re-use an old design, it would make more sense for it to be Interceptors, and if they wanted to do an evolved design, it should've been based on the Interceptors. It's as silly as the idea of replacing the F-22 with an F-4 Phantom derived design if you want to go by the military equipment analogy.
It's also disappointing that there were no other ship types mixed in there. Even the first Star Wars had 4 different fighters in the final battle.

Fuck this, my second main character in The Old Republic will be an Imperial agent.
Also, I hope you enjoyed those seconds starring Thrawn, because they'll be the only ones we'll get in the whole episode

The TIE Interceptor wasn't meant to be a replacement for the Standard TIE, it had its own role.

I was really hoping to see an evolved A-Wing or Y-Wing while watching TFA in theaters; I remember being disappointed that it was only X-Wings and TIEs. At least in the Poe Dameron comics there's A-Wings.
Looks like there is going to be an A-wing or an A-wing like craft in Episode 8, based on those photos of Prince Harry on set.

Thanks Billy Mays, rip
Hopefully this will have a ton of deleted scenes. I want to see what could have been.
Think I read somewhere that it doesn't have any deleted scenes.
Star wars show gave a run down of some features. Plus New York Toyfair star wars stuff. So many toys I want.

That's odd, there sure was a lot of supposed cut content for there to be no deleted scenes.

it isn't 'supposed', we can clearly see missing scenes in the trailers.
The only thing people really want is the scene where [sp]Jyn and Cassian don't die[/sp] but it doesn't exists because it was never shot
I want to see more of Krennic. That trailer line especially.

she's way too adorable
I disliked the last episode of rebels. The delivery of the dialogue was bad, and the plot predictable (but I find a lot of things predictable, It's arguably a flaw)
I get it's a kids show, but I felt they doubled down on that too much this episode. More than necessary. It should be more of a family show. I don't feel this episode hit either market, too dumbed down for adults but too much politics for kids.
That 4k ANH that Gareth Edwards saw months ago? Apparently its of the 2011 release, not the original theatrical.

Oh no TLJ reshoots/pickups, this must be baaaad /sarcasm

I know, I just thought that if I didnt add 'supposed' in there then somebody would start bitching that we dont know that for sure.
It would be interesting to see the original third act of the film. Obviously at least parts of it were filmed, like the database and comms tower being on different parts of the islands, and the tie fighter over the comms tower.
Also I wonder if they filmed anything regarding Jyn's original backstory as an [sp]Alliance hero or whatever[/sp]

I don't think so, I think that was pre-scripting phase.
I thought this tweet might put into perspective how far in advance they work on Rebels

If I may repost something of mine from the Star Wars gaming thread (I'm getting desperate)
I'm asking here because, honestly, I don't know what to do.
I know that not so many people play or have played The Old Republic here, but here goes nothing.
I want a dark side second character for the past level 50 content beside my light-to-neutral side Sith assassin, but I don't know which one between a Darth Vader without any redeeming trait expy Sith warrior or a more sociopathic Admiral Thrawn expy Imperial agent (except, you know, a cyborg and not a Chiss).
In favor of the Sith warrior, he has always been one of my favorite classes from the game, story-wise, I'd love to romance Vette and the final sequence of Rogue One is still pretty clear in my mind. Thing is, he's still a Sith, so.
In favor of the Imperial agent, he'd give me a totally different angle from my Sith assassin and I have a nice roleplaying plan in mind, but I really don't like the agent's companions and a ranged dps won't be my usual cup of tea (I can't play an operative because he'd be too similar to my Sith assassin, gameplay-wise). Also, I keep hearing that non-Force users classes don't mesh too well in the story of Kotfe and the following content.
So
for SW
for IA
Personally Elia, Agent is literally the best non-force user to do KOTFE and KOTET with. That and their class story is considered one of the best and that their dark side, neutral, and light side paths are both neat. Personally I'd roll a LS agent that's a Chiss.

My thought exactly, but once again he'd be redundant on a gameplay perspective (my main is a deception Sith assassin, so operative is out of the question). Engineering sniper will be good, but (A) sniping (B) ranged combat in general aren't exactly what I'm known for in videogames
I like how the Datatape in Rogue One that held the Plans looked like something from the 70s.
Though, I wonder why was the storage device for the plans on Scarif was that big, while the card Leia gave R2 was tiny.
I'm guessing the big Datatape was for security reasons, hard to hide that and sneak out with it.
You could also handcuff it to someone like some sort of Spy movie. A little card like Leia had could be easy to lose.
kind of answered your own question there didn't you
I was speculating. No idea if that is the correct answer or not.
Leia shot it with a shrink ray to give to R2
[editline]24th February 2017[/editline]
Source: George Lucas is my Uncle
The big thing may have been a huge chasis for the smaller hard disk which R2 got
Well the disk R2 got was a copy, not the original.
Unless you mean there was a disk like that in the chassis.
But where was the disk when Vader searched the ship then?
[editline]24th February 2017[/editline]
Genuinely can't remember if that was explained or anything
