Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

I didn't mind not having a crawl. It's not a main series star wars film, so not having one can kind of make sense if they keep it consistent.

I also don't get the complain of the lack of John Williams. It's unfortunate but he cannot score the Star Wars films forever. It's a good time to get people to work with him, learn the style, and pass the torch to others.
rogue one had a pretty awesome score, though

Was even done in a way for it to be referenced in ANH.

I just love how you can tell Vader is barely even trying. Really shows you just how scary he is.
an interview with Dave Filoni on the episode

So I just watched s3e20 of rebels.
It's better directed than rebels normally is. Great cinematic shots rather than the usual stuff you'd get from the cartoon.
I can't help but be disappointed in the story. [sp]It would've been great if it appeared after the clone wars, where Maul was a mad dog, but I feel like they squandered the development he's had in rebels. The bit at the end where Erza brings the ship back and the crew are pleased to see a sign of maul's passing felt like A piss on the coffin. Erza interacting with the base staff was interesting, but I felt like he was an interloper in the finale between two longer running and more interesting characters. [/sp]
Also, Wouldn't think you could break a starfighter's window with a strike. Woulda thought they'd make it out of tougher stuff.

Seems to me he's enjoying it a bit too much, and a bit of showboating.

If there's a fight scene with Luke in the future installment of Star Wars I would hope it would mirror that scene wherein Vader is an unstoppable force, Luke would be an immovable object, using little effort to defeat hia foes.
Woah what
There's some discussion about it on this podcast at around 31:30

I'm just really glad Rogue One included that Vader scene. His sheer power and fear was never actually really ever seen until now, and even getting that small taste was enough.
Vader's hallway is something they should look to when doing jedi, but not outright copy, Vader's hallway is very 'Vader' with the movement and very sith with the enjoyment of the brutal-lethal. But they should show how scary jedi can be, though it doesn't always have to be so malicious. Using the force for offence always seems great, I think they should use it more (bonus points for environmental hazards)
Good think there are so many droids for pg-13 jedi to horrifically kill, amrite?
The model of Luke at the end of last weeks Rebels episode was just Ezra's model, since he was so far away there was no reason make a new asset.

holy shit thats awesome

haha I just realized on the desktop version of Spotify for Star Wars music that the playbar is Luke/Anakin's lightsaber. That's awesome.

currently trying to figure out which version of Rogue One to buy. I like the Steelbook version from Best Buy (Stormtroopers <3), but the Target One comes with bonus content (again...) and I like Special Features.
Decisions decisions, what do you guys think?
[editline]20th March 2017[/editline]
fuck it im getting the Best Buy Steelbook version
I'd wait until the end of the year, see if they release another edition like they did with TFA.
i need it sooner rather than later and i have disposable income. i cant wait to the end of the year to see it again :v:

I swear if there aren't Clones I'm going to be fucking livid.
I'm almost certain there won't be Clones. No way. it will be OT and ST.
If they could only do one Era for the last game, what makes you think they'll be able to do two new ones for the new game?
Clones from Battlefront 2 > anything OT in Battlefront
I'm almost certain you could tack on sequel trilogy,so far, as an afterthought.
Reskin TIEs, X wings and E11s
Add a the new rebel rifle.
Do a different stormtrooper.
Phasma's a reskin, Kylo is rather simple, The new young cast are worth doing.
New stun-thing combo, I guess.
Put some snow in a forest, do another desert, add some dramatic lighting to imperial stuff.
And you're done.
There's so much recycling for you to do.
Plus, since they got that tech that makes models out of photos, getting movie stuff shouldn't be terrible.
It's been my running idea that BF1 would capitalize on OT because of TFA coming out around that time, BF2 would skip back to the Clone Wars, and there would be a BF3 that would coincide with the release of EP9 which would be entirely themed around the sequel trilogy, similar to how old BF2 came out around the time of ROTS and featured new clones and maps and such from the new movie.

It has already been confirmed that the ST is in BF2

Not all of those are simple reskins or "Recycling"
The TIE Fighter and X-wings are different models, the X-wing almost completely.
And it isn't as easy as scanning a model, it needs to be made game worthy. The scanned copy is just the base they build ontop of, they need to optimize it, texture it, fix imperfections.
We haven't gotten any big clone war era stuff for some time now. New era SW seems really focused on fleshing out the civil war and putting the Clones and Droids on the back bench. I doubt we'll see clones in BF2 because of this.

The funny thing about Clone Wars era is that they'd probably has less of a load to work.
Make Phase 1 and 2 Clone armor.
Add paint.
???
Clone Wars.
Same applying for the droids.

It's not all just about the models themselves though, it's also how it's basically the same things but with a few changes. You've still got some form of X-WINGS, TIE Fighters, Star Destroyers, Stormtroopers, E-11s, AT-ATs etc whereas with the Clone Wars, things were all vastly different. From a gameplay perspective it seems there would be hardly any difference between the two eras, and what you could include for the ST is quite limited in the first place.
Including the ST just seems like a bad move to me. Sure it's the most recent Star-Wars setting, but in terms of content and equipment it just doesn't seem to have as much to it as the Clone Wars did. If they did what they did for the OT in the new Battlefront where it's no classes, 4 ships, and 3 vehicles then they could have enough there i suppose, but that lack of content was a huge complaint with the game.
Where was it confirmed to be in the game?

Ok this quote isn't a direct confirmation, they could use the new world in old eras
http://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-battlefront-2-will-release-in-2017/
Speaking more specifically, it looks like another Star Wars Battlefront game will release as soon as 2017. "Next year we’ll see Star Wars Battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off [and] not just the historical movies that we used before," Jorgensen said.
But, they also showed sequel era concept art in that future of Star Wars games video last year when talking about Battlefront.
https://youtu.be/yrIEW7woFFo 55 seconds in.
The game is coming out very close to Episode 8, LucasFilm might allow them to use the new designs from that movie.

That quote seems extremely unclear about what it's talking about. The way i'm interpreting it doesn't suggest he means just the new trilogy. He says the new game will be better because they can use content from the newer movies now rather than just being limited to the original trilogy like this game was, he's saying the "historical movies" were what they had to use for the first game, so that suggests even the prequel trilogy counts as the "new movies" in this context otherwise they could have used those if they were part of the "historical movies".
What's the concept art your referring to, though? 55 seconds in is an X-wing animation, but isn't that one of the original versions?

I really hope they come up with a more original name than BF2, because when I hear "Star Wars: Battlefront 2", it makes me think of Star Wars: Battlefront II and not whatever half done mess of a product they're going to rush out to cash in on the release of Episode 8.
star wars: battlegrounds
