Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

So I've never watched Rebels before, but the inclusion of Thrawn in Season 3 has convinced me to get into it. I've heard that it really doesn't start to pick up until Season 2, should I still be starting from the beginning?
Yes I have seen most of Clone Wars, not every episode but enough.
Except for EP1, which suffered from all above PLUS a terrible story.
That's EP2. Episode 1 just has a boring story. It makes sense, it's an adventure, but its boring and no one cares as a result. Like for real, trade negotiations?
Honestly EP1 is the only one of the 3 that I genuinely just can't stand. The other two had plot issues too, don't get me wrong, but at least they HAD A PLOT AT ALL.
What plot is present in episode 2? Anakin's hatred of sand? Padme still loving him after admitting to murdering women and children? Obi-Wan having to ask children what to do in his detective plot (especially since it was so fucking obvious, just go there jesus christ)
Like fr TPM is much better than AToC. AToC is a mess that makes no logical sense, and the "attack of the clones" lasts for about a total of 5 minutes.
Though honestly the biggest issue with the prequels is the fact that TPM was set so much earlier than the other two. Like, had the clone wars actually begun at the start of The Phantom Menace, with Anakin already a Jedi, you could have had a much better arc of 3 movies. But instead they decided to set it 10 years prior to AToC. And that fucks it all up. Not to mention throwing away a villain in the first act of a trilogy, maul was wasted.
At least TCW redeems so of that mess.
Like my ratings for the prequels go as follows: TPM - 4/10, AToC - 2/10, RoTS - 6/10

Finish up TCW then watch Rebels from the start.
Agree the start was all over the place but it came together well in the end. The people dying too fast part I guess ties into the fact that they were hardly developed to begin with so that probably didn't help. But hey I'll give credit where it's due, you wouldn't expect a Star Wars film to kill that many people that quickly.
Girlfriend's mom was crying pretty much from [sp]K2s death[/sp] onwards to the credits because she had zero clue that they'd [sp]KILL EVERYBODY[/sp]

I dunno if this has been posted before, but it's a funny little story.
While we are discussing Rebels, anyone even remotely interested in what happened during the first year after Order 66 or the character of Kanan has to read this.
Thrawn was one of the only good things about Legends.
I liked the whole Remnant arc with Daala and Pellaeon fucking over all the warlords. But then again it's been a long time since I read those novels so maybe they're worse than I recall.
Thrawn was one of the only good things about Legends.
I just want Republic Commando, KotOR, and the Jedi Knight series to make some sort of return.
I think the two holocrons [sp]combined[/sp] in Rebels is entirely illogical and works contrary to what we know about the force/holocrons
Contrary to what what lore? We know very little about Holocrons in the new canon.
Even in the EU Holocrons were influenced by the force, Sith Holocrons could corrupt jedi.

Delta Squad is technically canon from that short little easter egg cameo in the Clone Wars series (thought that's literally it). Revan will probably be made canon at somepoint, it would be pretty easy to do. Kyle Katarn though, I have no idea how they can fit him in at this point.
Kyle Katarn though, I have no idea how they can fit him in at this point.
Non-Jedi Kyle would work fine.
Hes just a smuggler.
[editline]28th December 2016[/editline]
Jedi Kyle could work too, since he doesn't discovery his force sensitivity until after ROTJ, but then he'd either have to die or go into hiding when Luke's Academy is attacked.
personally I'd rather have kyle be not force sensitive, or atleast not be a jedi in this continuity.

At this point, I think they should retcon Kyle into the Old Republic, and make him Revan because to hell with SWTOR.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that when I saw them I was confused as shit and thought I was intoxicated or something

Agreed. Maybe he could be one of the Rebellion's last remaining mercenary agents after Rogue One. Stealing the Death Star plans is only a small part of Dark Forces, the rest could be reintegrated no problem.

[sp] Grab these reusable, manufacturable two artifacts, Use the dark side here, light side here, unlock a secret of the universe[/sp]
Bit of a stretch.
(and maybe an exploitable cheatcode)

It is probably forbidden to do.

Yeah, you just need a Sith and a Jedi working together.
Sounds easy.
Yeah, I forgot to mention that when I saw them I was confused as shit and thought I was intoxicated or something
Dave Filoni was a big fan of the games.
The Trandoshian slavers use their shotgun from that game as well.

because repcom is hella awesome, and should be fully canon.
that would explain why it sounds like someone is dying every time he leaps in Battlefront
interesting how they use the scream in battlefront, despite wanting to keep the continuity of the original trilogy intact.
Yeah, you just need a Sith and a Jedi working together.

You don't need to be a sith/jedi to use their respective sides of the force.
Did anyone else find it ironically funny how [sp]Jyn saves that one crying girl from a swarm of blaster shots, only for that girl along with everyone else in the city to get obliterated by the Death Star laser anyway?[/sp]

[sp]According to one of the sources she escaped[/sp]
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might actually prefer Michael Giacchino to score VIII/IX Instead of John Williams. I absolutely love Williams, but TFA's score was dull, compared to Giacchino's brilliant Rogue One score. Maybe some sort of collaboration between the two would be fitting.
[sp]According to one of the sources she escaped[/sp]
they probably decided to book it when the Empire started shooting

don't forget, TFA's score was the result of maestro williams having some health issues during composing/recording, and the constant need of "REMEMBER THIS?", so ultimately the music suffered from that. i'm sure 8 and 9 will have better scores that aren't just constant repeats of either the main theme or the rebel alliance motif.

TFA's score was lambasted for not having enough returning themes from OT and PT.
Williams didn't want to do "just another SW score" and that combined with his health issues gave us a less memorable score overall, but there was still a bunch of rememberable themes in it.

Starting to see things like this gives me massive respect for Filoni, he seem's to have struck a fantastic balance of creating content as a producer but also as a fan, without going too much in either direction. Good on him for doing that.

i have never heard this before. apart from the main theme and the force theme, there shouldn't have been really any returning cues.
