Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

The Audible preview of 'A Certain Point of View' is out, and reveals something interesting, [sp]Yoda wanted to train Leia, not Luke[/sp]
Been watching The Clone Wars serie following the guide posted in OP but updated for up to Season 6. Finished the Mandalore arc in Season 5 with [sp]Maul and holy shit Sidious has no brakes. I wonder what is his plan with Maul.[/sp]

Just a heads up, that plot point isn't followed up in the series, but in a comic [sp]'Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir'[/sp]. The show was cancelled before it could be concluded in the series
It's a shame because his arcs are the best. SoD is inconclusive too. But at least we have [sp]rebels[/sp] and a new canon origin comic from marvel.
I'm just so fucking glad my favourite Delta Squad is canon. Such a shame that that's about it, they exist but nothing will be done with them. :saddowns: No episodes with them, no stories, no games, no movies, nothing.
Never say never

Well yeah, probably no more shows or movies, but they could still do comics, books or games
On the topic of Delta Squad, [sp]my little birds have informed me that in the alpha/beta/pre-release thing for Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA), there's some references in the code to Clone Commandos. Last I heard, we still don't know what that's about.[/sp]

It isn't what you think it is
The commando References in the alpha files were for the Clone Jumptrooper's files.
Why they called the jumptroopers 'commandos' internally, I have no clue.
[editline]18th September 2017[/editline]
A possible leak says there will also be ARC Troopers, the 'C' in ARC does mean Commando.
Finished watching Clone Wars series, pretty good 'ending' of the show I'd say, how it connects to original trilogy.

I'm trying to think of anything that conflicts with canon that happened in the game, otherwise I'd argue their appearance kind of confirms its events [sp]unless I've made a mistake on timeline and a certain member is supposed to be dead[/sp]
Either which way, I think the best thing to hope for is a good canon comic book about them.
Right now I think all comics coming out are canon, so if they get one it should be.

Preferably one that has a brief few page retelling of the game's general plot that includes any necessary retcons, then continuing from the games... I wanna say cliffhanger? It's been years, but I feel like there was one. It leaves a yearn for continuation nonetheless, and all we got was a shitty flip phone game.

[/QUOTE]that happens much later, during RotS, so your timeline is alright

It was a cliffhanger - [sp]Sev is left behind during final battle of Kashyyk when Delta Squad was shooting down a Separatist cruiser, where apparently Grievous was around too. You are ordered to leave, and you leave Sev behind...[/sp] :saddowns:
About continuity - it doesn't matter at all, does it? Game isn't canon afaik, because Disney purged it, right? So I was very glad to see that the Squad itself actually exists in canon universe and do hope to see canon adventures of Delta Squad and after that, the transition from Republic Commando status to Imperial Commando. It is probably quite dark, when you think about it.
I've also just read the Clone Wars comic about a certain Mandalorian arc ([sp]Maul[/sp]) mentioned earlier, a nice read. Any other good comics that you would recommend to read?
I always considered their presence as an argument for the game being canon, and iirc Disney often includes the purged stuff back into canon. A canon mobile game had the virus from Death Troopers.

Also the Darth Vader comics that started in 2015 are good shit
[editline]18th September 2017[/editline]
and ofc probably gonna wanna check out the [sp]Maul[/sp] origin comic that started this year
[editline]18th September 2017[/editline]
HOLY FUCKING SHIT IN ISSUE 2 OF DARTH MAUL (MAJOR SPOILERS) [sp]Cad Bane and Aurra Sing are apparently hired by Maul to help[/sp]
Considering this takes place before Phantom Menace to my knowledge thats pretty big imo
[editline]18th September 2017[/editline]
There's also flashbacks of (Rebels and comic spoilers) [sp]Maul and Sidious visiting Malachor, a locale Maul returns to in Rebels[/sp]
LucasFilm purged it not Disney, it was decided even before Disney bought them. Pablo confirmed this.
I need to start back into some of the comics since I'm through my 2 audible credits by like start of week 2 every month. Any good digital place to get them from?
Finished Darth Maul. Disappointed to find that it was apparently limited to 5 issues. I was ready for a longer serial of canon Darth Maul stories.
Phasma is this weird walking disconnect between the marketing department and the writers. Lots of promotion and hype, and the writers have either no idea what to do with her or no interest in doing anything with her in the movie itself, and she gets upstaged by TR-8R who is pretty much the polar opposite of her.
You could probably have gotten away with her doing little to nothing if she hadn't been promoted so much, the character of some minor character high-ranking officer who has given themselves dumb shiny armour who gets humiliated and comes back as somebody more important in the next movie would've been fine if she didn't have "weren't you supposed to do something cool" hanging over her.
And her special snowflake armour will forever bug me. Nobody else is that shiny, what lets her break the aesthetic? At least spend ten seconds contriving a justification for it. Her status as blatantly just there to sell action figures annoys me and normally I couldn't care less.

She has a bigger role in TLJ, plus she just got her own novel and has a comic series currently.

"Son of Dathomir" had some of the best Grievous moments ever.

Comixology is your friend.
As far as current Star Wars comics go, Darth Vader 2017 has been great so far, but Soule is one of last Marvel Comics' top writers left so that's pretty much a given. From minis I'm surprised nobody mentioned Lando yet, arguably the best one so far.
Everyone should read the Kanan book as well. Great look into what GFFA looked like right after the formation of the Empire.
The Kanan book as in A New Dawn? That one was pretty solid.

He's referring to the Marvel series, Kanan: The Last Padawan (Issues 1-6) and First Blood (7-12). I've only read Last Padawan but I'll happily recommend it too.
Ah, wasn't sure between the two. Also on my list to check out.

The current run of marvel Star Wars comics is (mostly) on Marvel Unlimited subs. Couple months behind on a few issues (Darth Maul #2 and onward isn't there) but in general it's quite a bit. Probably cheaper than buying the issues 1 by 1
Lando is great and I love it

Star Wars has a real knack for introducing cool characters and then killing them off or humiliating them in the same movie.
TLJ has finished post-production

[QUOTE=usaokay;52708131]Great. More time for the VFX artists to create duracell and Ford commercials starring that penguin alien and BB-8.[/QUOTE]
Hey now, my only source of high-quality sequel-era space battles for a long time was from a fucking Jeep commercial:
