I hope they put the pazaak game that solo won to get the falcon. and i hope they show the fact that both sides were cheating
Sabacc not Pazaak.
I've got the worst sinking feeling that Han Solo is gonna be like an upstanding hero in this one, even though he's supposed to be kind of a huge scumbag to everyone but Chewie until he helps Luke blow up the Death Star.
Call me pessimistic, but it feels like everything we've seen thus far indicates that the people making this are completely missing the point of his character in ANH.

Nah, I doubt it. They fired the original people because of that.

So far I plan on having low hopes for any spin off film that has episodic characters in it.
I had good hopes for Rogue One because it was entirely original characters.

It's also going to be incredibly difficult for me to watch a movie with someone other than Harrison Ford as Han Solo.
To me, the character and the actor cannot be separated.

That's one of the things that has me so skeptical. They booted Phil Lord and Chris Miller, two guys whose entire Hollywood resume is "we take really bad studio-driven ideas for licensed films like 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie and turn them into pure gold". Like, they were probably the perfect people (aside from maybe James Gunn) to take this project on, and they get replaced with Ron Howard literally WEEKS away from wrapping production, reportedly because their take was more of a lighthearted space adventure/heist film with some comedy and not the serious dramatic story the executives at Lucasfilm were looking for.
It's that sense of disconnect between what the studio and filmmakers' interpretation of the project, coupled with how all we've really gotten out of it is a lot of generic "REMEMBER THE KESSEL RUN? THIS IS THE UNTOLD STORY BEHIND THE SMUGGLER" style hype that has me concerned.
Not to mention how Rogue One was kinda lackluster, despite some cool elements.

I'll be immensely impressed if the dude they got sells me in any way beyond "oh look it's a 20-something dressed up as Han Solo for Halloween".
Why would you make a Han Solo movie serious.
Why would you make a Han Solo movie serious.
Because Star Wars is a serious franchise? Not really known to be comedies :v:

I seem to remember every movie with the exception of the prequels having their fair share of comedy moments. Star Wars has always been a lighthearted space adventure with a little bit of drama sprinkled in.

Who said they are?
The original directors were trying to make Han Solo a comedic character, which he very much isn't. Sure, funny things happen to him (almost always when his suave rogue act falls flat) but that doesn't mean he should behave like Star Lord.
I've got every faith in the world Disney will deliver here. They won't ruin Han anymore than Rogue One ruined ANH. They get Han. He was spot on in TFA. Even down to little lines like "move ball".
They know he's a swindler. You get that entire sequence where two groups he previously conned catch up with him and he tries to lie his way out (badly, like we expect from Han).
We'll probably see him meeting Chewie and Lando and [sp]Maz (some merch guys accidentally revealed Lupita is in the film)[/sp]. You'll see the first time he goes in the Falcon. We'll probably see the time a job he did for Jabba went wrong (and he got the bounty on his head). Despite that they film-makers have stressed this film is not a case of "and this is how he gets the Falcon". It's a story that happens to have these elements in.
I'm sure the film will be amazing. I'm just not at all excited to see somebody else play Han. I'm quite nervous about it. But unless they could pull it off they wouldn't do it.
Dan, you are probably the most optimistic person in the world for this film :v:
Are there any articles from industry professionals that go into how Force Awakens matches the look of the original trilogy?
I'm talking about not-obvious stuff like lighting, framing, camera movement, location design. There was surely an effort to match it to stuff done in the late seventies

What about everyone else?
Theater promotions starting to appear for Last Jedi. I wonder if there's a hidden meaning here:

Luke is Snoke?
that's obviously luuke skywalker on the left
It's also obviously Luke on the right.
I think it's more hinting that Dark/Light are part of a whole, and gray is the balance.
Though that seems to be the thing everyone is saying.
It's also obviously Luke on the right.
He was joking. Look up Luuke Skywalker.
that's obviously luuke skywalker on the left
Luke is shown towering over everyone, Bigger Luke confirmed for TLJ.
Pablo keeps saying there is no such thing as gray Jedi, so I doubt it’s that.

Luke and bigger luke team up to fight: Bigger Luuke

Snoke was Bigger Luuke all along.

That's probably some editing fuckery [sp]With Rey looking like she'll kill Luke[/sp] But if it isn't, Jesus fuck.
Pablo keeps saying there is no such thing as gray Jedi, so I doubt it’s that.
I could honestly see this being semantics though.
Yeah there's no grey "Jedi", but Rogue One established you don't need to be a Jedi to be a Force user.
So there could totally be morally grey Force users who use lightsabers, like Jews for Jesus or something.

[sp]The Falcon gets its sensor dish blown off again. Guess that's just what happens when you let someone other than Han fly the damn thing.[/sp]
Who is it that says [sp]"Darkness rises..."[/sp] in the new trailer? Is it Snoke?
