Beat the second boss and now I'm hopelessly lost as to where to go next. This is a sequel to La-Mulana alright.
The better La-Mulana experience is reaching a new area and struggling to find the grail point while low on health and paranoid of traps.
I've been kinda struggling to figure out where to go for most of the game so far. The early game seems to give a ton less guidance than the first one did. I'm not even sure what the hell my current goal is other than "explore the ruins more," lol.
I've only beaten one guardian myself though. But I've explored parts of around 6-7 fields or so. I also need to stock up on shuriken so I might be able to beat that stupid dragon miniboss at the top of Yggdrasil. I always run out of shuriken and it doesn't seem possible to melee it at any other point than its swoop attacks which is a good way to get your shit kicked in.
it's really reliving to find the darkside warp program
I really have no idea how I'm supposed to beat the miniboss atthe other end of the Corridor of Blood in the ice field. Can't get a single hit on them.
I've beaten two guardians, have three ankh jewels, have a third ankh available (can't survive the intro, it's the one in Annwfn), know where 2-4 others will appear (two for sure but I think I know two others), and still have no freaking idea where to go. Every time I make progress I feel like the game will finally start opening up but it just feels like dead ends wherever I go. For reference this is my current equipment. (I also have the snapshot app and four mantras despite not being able to use them.)
Also I absolutely freaking despise Icefire Treetops. It's the most dickish field by far and I'd honestly rather play Hell Temple than that shit.
I also found a dev room sort of thing. I have no idea how it works though. I'll jsut link the screenshot:

It's in Icefire Treetops just below the entrance room. You have to enter it from the left in a room with a shit load of vases. I have no idea what its purpose is though. I have three of the apps associated with those doors and even equipping just those apps and entering the doors does nothing.
I don't think you can at the moment. I'm not sure what all equipment you have but for me even the pistol does nothing. On a side note did you discover that the Corridor of Blood leads more places than just the ice place?
I figured as much, but I only found the entrance inValhalla.I don't know if there's more entrances in other fields, or I just gotta some nonsense to change where the door goes. I haven't played much but I do have the Fortress'sAnkh, just need to find the Guardian.
A tip on discovering other entrances: Don't warp out of the ice area.I suppose it's probably the logical way to go about things seeing as the lper I'm watching also didn't discover this detail. Though I'm not sure the other areas are all the useful right now anyways. One field does have a costume you can easily obtain but the other one I recall being to, despite exploring the majority of it, didn't actually help me progress.
Speaking of lpers, this is the lp I'm watching if anyone's interested:

and his La-Mulana 1 lp (which was actually the reason I subscribed to him):

I accidentally made a fair amount of progress today. On top of figuring out how to finally survive the intro for the third guardian (overlooked the boss room literally spelling out what I needed to do somehow...) I ended up solving an important riddle regarding the Corridor of Blood and then accidentally my way to the Feather far earlier than I should have been able to. (One item gets a second, gets a third, gets the Feather according to the stuff I have logged in TexTrax.) Turns out that the way things are laid out in the room you can have an enemy knock you up on to the platform like I did on accident.
Doesn't actually net you a whole lot though. Mostly it's just a convenience for getting around. It netted me a health upgrade, one mantra (which I got early but the guardian I beat unlocked the ability to reach, lol), and then I accidentally stumbled across the Bronze Mirrorwhose description suggests it actually won't be useful for quite a long time.
So far I have to say I'm really not enjoying La-Mulana 2 even though I want to. The devs seem to have largely focused on the wrong things. Tedious as fuck enemy setups and annoying traps aren't what made the game fun, solving the puzzles was. And in that regard the game suffers from far more severe information overload which frequently results in you wandering the ruins repeatedly until you found the one relevant thing you overlooked only for that to not even result in immediate progress because now that you did that you have to repeat the first step again.
I'm currently stuck needing three items for progress. I think I know where all three are but I can't obtain them. Two of them appear to require the other one. And while I've verified I'm on the right path for trying to obtain that one I have no idea how to actually accomplish that. I've spent like 8 hours recently just wandering the game talking to every npc and reading every tablet and have yet to find anything actually useful.
I did find my way into a new field but it's somehow even worse than Icefire Treetop and after dying my way through there I still don't seem to be able to actually accomplish anything. It takes some real effort to make a field worse than that one though. I suppose making it unnecessarily tedious to reach, not allowing you to warp out, and cutting you off from the grail points while making it abundantly clear you right by them and would be able to easily reach them if the devs weren't dicks doesn't really help but then there's the nearly invisible spikes because they blend in, the unnecessarily irritating to fight enemies, the ridiculous durable enemies, the rooms that are guaranteed deaths, one of which you get literally no warning whatsoever for, the constant poison lava pools that enemies are very likely to knock you into because they're in difficult to dodge locations, and the required poison lava bath to advance.
The further I get at this point the less fun I have. I just end up leaving the game feeling like I've accomplished nothing actually worthwhile no matter what progress I've made (acquiring six items, beating one guardian, and exploring two entire fields in this session, for example) and just feeling incredibly frustrated by the constant roadblocks compounded by the enemy/trap setups which are laid out specifically to be as annoying as possible to deal with.
