Totally Accurate Battlegrounds - I can throw a "Fuck you!" at my foe?

So, I hear they put out a minor cheat fix... but has it actually fixed the game for anyone? I saw on the update comments on Steam that people were complaining it did nothing.
it didn't do anything, it's some kind of shitty bandaid fix that is in no way comparable to a real anticheat like EAC or Battleye.
Keep in mind, it is a gimmick game, I wouldn't expect it to have the long term appeal of competitive games in the genre, though yeah, cheaters definitely aren't helping right now.
to be fair they stated it was pretty much a joke game, i didn't expect them to update it at all post-launch
It could be live till the original game is in fashion, I am pretty sure about it.
Played about three matches after a few weeks off, they did a pretty great job optimizing the game compared to launch. The addition of a ton of vehicles is nice (I love the bicycles).
also holy shit the 1-handed shield is OP as fuck lmao

Have they fixed bikes though? Every time I've ever gotten on one, it has resulted in hellish desync
Haven't had any issues so far.
Put together a TABG video. One of the first videos I made like this so I would love some feedback.

The devs have kept updating this (apparently they added more anticheat) and I guess there's still players, since I had no problem finding a match earlier today... but I can't help but feel like this game's best days have already passed. Which is a shame, because I vastly prefer this to stuff like Fortnite
They fucked their chances by not implementing proper working anticheat fast enough, instead using their own solution which barely works.
I think that another reason for decline in player base is that majority of Landfall Games employees went on vacation during summer, right on the game's peak of popularity. That meant no updates and no new content, also rampant cheater problem.
The cheating was probably the least big problem, seems more like everyone got sick of battle royale games.
also the game had little staying power. every other popular BR game had some sort of progression system and rewards for playing.
it's rare nowadays for a game to have a consistent playerbase without using some sort of carrot/breadcrumb system to keep players engaged.
The cheaters were what turned me and my friends off to it, I think we could've waited out a content update for another month or so if the game hadn't become incredibly unfun to play because of cheaters.
They should had kept it free to play, too.
if there's one thing i gotta say it's that the presentation is very boring. understandable, i get it, it's not like menus is what they should be working on at this point. still, i'd be lying if i said it didn't bother me that the game has this super gloomy vibe to it, and i imagine it turns new players off
Honestly, most of that likely isn't a factor. Its just that there are two major powerhouses: PUBG and Fortnite. Most people are Fortnite players which, having microtransactions and a massive community, makes it a hard-to-escape commitment. On the flip side you have PUBG. A large portion of its community are holdouts who don't want to go to another game like Fortnite and therefore aren't going to budge at all, and it has microtransactions as well making it a commitment. Last you have the disinterest group, who don't really care and are more casual, they're just going to go with whatever they hear about which will be either Fortnite or PUBG in most cases.
TABG is simply a small, fun game that can't hope to rival the monolithic industry presence of Fortnite or PUBG, and there group of uncommitted potential players isn't really growing.
TABG can still find its niche as the fun game you can play to fuck around with friends / blow off some steam - the whole premise of it is so absurd there is no point in caring about your performance, unlike PUBG or Fortnite which recently god their own pro league tournaments
IMO they have to up the ante on the fuck-around factor, more silly cosmetics and weapons - there is something to be salvaged here
The saddest thing for me with this game is when they finally added aus servers i got to sit in a lobby with 2 other players for 10 minutes before giving up hope of playing at a decent ping.

Hi! Thank you who participated in our first community test of the new brawl mode, we’re super happy with the feedback and are working on the necessary changes. We aim to have another test soon, stay tuned on social media/announcements!
We are also hoping on going free to play (F2P) in the future because of these reasons:
- It’s currently hard to find a match with fifty people as was intended, F2P will help bring in new people.
- The server costs are very high and an F2P update will extend the lifetime of the game.
Don’t worry. We will make sure that the people who got the game before going free will have something unique and cool to make it worth their while.
In order to go F2P we need to finish some major things, this is what we’re working on:
- Finishing the Brawl mode
- Streaming: Behind the scenes, we’re working on a streaming tool that will optimize the game for better performance. This is a bit of a gigantic task but we believe it will be a major lift for the game. It will hopefully lead to less lag spikes, it will optimize the rendering of the world and decrease the workload of the CPU.
- Cosmetics: To be able to go F2P we need an in-game store for cosmetics, we’ve come some way with this but it needs more work to make sure it works correctly.
These things need to be finished before we go F2P to ensure it goes correctly, we will not do so unless these things are in place. Thank you all for sticking with us for this long <3
Going f2P soon, big game optimizations. MTX in the form of cosmetics
But does it have proper anticheat yet? You can't go F2P without hardcore anticheat since it'll get utterly infested by hackers that just make new steam accounts.
It should had stayed free to play from the very start but it's nice that they are still working on it.
Just played a few rounds, I haven't seen anything yet.
If you're looking for players, I was able to find a 20+ player match every time on NA West btw
