Did they just nerf the one thing in the entire game that makes him playable? Really?
Surprised they didn't give him more armor. His ability to die quickly turns a lot of people off from a really good CC frame.
He's not a really good CC frame though
Vauban has always been inferior to Limbo and even Khora now in terms of CC. He was better on interception thanks to his augment but with the change he can't even do that anymore.
On devstream they said that they couldn't reliably repro the bug, and by the looks of it players couldn't help them there either. So remaking the ability was probably a last-ditch solution.
They already reverted the change and added that on top of it. It was never necessary to make it in that state to begin with. DE clearly doesn't have their head in the right place here. Vauban desperately needs a large buff or change.
Vauban's still being quickly power-creeped out. These changes did basically nothing to help him survive in modern Warframe.
Vauban's Passive has changed! Vauban's new passive: "Deal 25% extra damage to incapacitated enemies".
Whether by Vauban's own CC'ing abilities, or the abilities of others, Vauban can amplify his damage against the incapacitated!
This is an okay passive. It's better than his previous one, but it doesn't really affect the tides of battle too much. A nice little damage boost. There was one suggestion that I saw somewhere where Vauban was unaffected by launchers' self-damage, which would've been a really cool and powerful addition that would fit Vauban's engineer theme. I don't have much of a problem with this one tho.
Tesla is now ‘held to charge’ for increased Damage & Status Chance.
This is useless. Tesla already does fuck-all damage. Charging it only gives it slightly-more-than-fuck-all damage. Chargeable abilities are not useful in most scenarios, and just exist to be an annoyance. The only frame that I can think of that has actually useful abilities when charged up is Hydroid, and that's because the non-charged-up versions are still plenty useful. Charging up exists as a consequence of your time in order to gain more in another attribute. But in this case, charging up is not worth the time. Tesla either needs seriously scaling damage, or must be removed.
Repelling Bastille Augment now pushes additional enemies outwards every 4s.
The augment has finally been fixed after years. But it's still overwhelmingly meh.
Vauban needs a rework. His 1 and 2 are absolutely negligible in 98% of missions. His 3 and 4 are the only abilities that see use, and they're slowly becoming less needed over time as more frames come out that just do Vauban better. This is worsened by the fact that both versions of Vauban are pretty hard to acquire in their respective levels, which just makes it not worthwhile to get him.
I think Vauban's tripwire is a slept on ability. The thing stays out for a long ass time, you can have multiple out at a time, and enemies falling all over themselves is not only useful, but hilarious.
No, it's a buff.
I feel like Vauban would see more use if the game had enemies that actually warranted CC and couldn't just be steamrolled with AoE spam. A big fancy toolbox is useless if all you're doing is hammering nails. If Warframe was a tower defense game Vauban would feel right at home. But even Warframe's Defense missions are more efficiently solved by AoE spam.
