I've successfully solved it. Installing the 4gig mod just... solved it.
However, as I played, a pretty horrible sound delay bug crept in, caused by VATS, I assume.
Sound delay? If its during VATS only its because the calculations are super slow in Bethbyro.
Sometimes I wonder if I'd enjoy Fallout 2 as much as I have in the past if I didn't play it like an exploity-smartass. Pretty much every single one of my runs of Fallout 2 always starts with the San Francisco Navarro run. Power armor at level 2-3 is such a hilarious early game breaker, but since I play a melee and
unarmed character, it feels almost mandatory, otherwise you'll get torn apart by even a damn hermit. Just to see how how viable unarmed was, I put the game on hard combat and for the first time, I actually ended up dying in Arroyo to the spore plants because I just kept fucking missing.
And it wasn't like I hadn't specced into Unarmed, I had modest strength, but very high agility, but I was still missing an obscene amount of times.
If there's one skill I'd invest into just to get through the earlier areas of FO2 is unarmed because later in the game that skill is required to succeed against unarmed only events (New Reno and San Fran) and the modified Power Fist makes fucking shit up a breeze than the Super Sledge which has the tendency to knock your opponents across a football field. I'd try farming for levels at Arroyo's hunting grounds, gather some xander root and broc flower for healing powder, try to kill geckos, retreat, go to doctor to heal, wait a day or two for geckos to respawn, and repeat.
I feel like Unarmed has always been a sort of running joke for the series (at least the west coast games) with how surprisingly OP it is
What was the background to that isometric screenshot of Fallout 4?
I didn't have any trouble with an unarmed only run of 2, maybe your special wasn't so hot? iirc Perception does effect your unarmed, and you're always better off keeping it above 4 for the Awareness perk. You can reliably get through the boxing and kung fu stuff without putting a point in unarmed, you'll want to just use called shots on the head and hope for a crit, or if you have jinxed you can count on them having a critical failure and instantly losing.
It does fall off in endgame compared to, like, the avenger minigun or gauss rifles, but it's not as bad as throwing only (which is only possible because pacifist runs are possible, lol)
Something interesting. Bethesda took some inspiration from the Fallout Bible (which Avellone says is non-canon) Vault 106 is directly taken from it (was also in a cut part of F2)
I always figure that he did infact invent jet but..
It's the jet that we know today, Jet from the pre-war times was either less potent or wasn't refined enough.
you can play them either way around and still appreciate both games.
Where the heck do I got for the DLC? I've just started a playthrough with DLC.

other games and dlcs are irrelevant
Opps Sorry I meant fallout 4
What part of "Other games and dlcs are irrelevant" did you not understand?
So I finally gave up and reinstalled New Vegas. Again.
I preserved my previous mod configuration and all the associated files, but I'd like to improve on it still and could use some help.
This is my current configuration

In particular, I'm currently looking for:
Mods adding new weapons, armors and apparel, especially ones with a western feeling (dusters, hats and eye patches are especially welcomed).
Mods further improving the game's gunplay and the third person camera.
Mods adding DLC-like user created content (as of now I set my sight on For the Enclave, The Frontier, The Rockwell Series, The Someguy Series, New Vegas Bounties, Russell and a World of Pain).
Mods tweaking the various factions and general immersion/roleplaying.
I want to say in advance that I'm not interested into survival mode and other difficulty-enhancements mods, as well as TTWs. Also, keep in mind I'm using a controller.
Also, feel free to discourage me from using any of the mods listed above
yeah, i've never really been able to get through fallout 2 since the start sucks so fucking much
it's a shame, i absolutely love fallout 1 and was really eager for more like that
also sucks since whenever i've mentioned that i don't like fallout 2 people seem to act as if i'd just spat in their mother's face or something
I mean if you've never really been able to get through the start, which isn't all that long, then you really shouldn't wonder why people take your opinion less seriously whne you say "I don't like fallout 2"
You don't really got the fully picture if you never finished the introduction, so you can't unilaterally say you don't like it in it's entirety.
What level are the NV DLCs recommended at?
15+ for OWB, 20+ for Dead Money, 25+ for LR, and I can't remember for Honest Hearts.
Just go through all of them at level 25 if you want to be sure.
Ideally.
What would a proper end game goal for Fallout 76 be?
It depends have you maximized your play through? Ideally i'm usually about level 40 by novac.
As such i'll often do the DLCs on the way there in the order they appear along the way.
Road, OWB, DEAD, HH
Doing Lonesome Road so early is strange IMO. I always treated it as the last stop before Hoover just because it feels like it has such a sense of finality because it ties directly into your PC compared to others
The New Vegas DLC were originally released in the following order: Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road.
My advice would be to play them in that order because, aside from their individual plots, they serve to increasingly build-up the character of Ulysses (Lonesome Road), so playing them in a different order could cause some "continuity errors" or make parts of later DLC look odd to you
Not like it ultimately matters because Ulysses is awful no matter how much you know about him prior to approaching LR.
Yeah but at the very least you get some context, making him more ... fairly ... bereable
Just blast through LR, ignore/deny everything Ulysses has to say, tell him to fuck off with high speech and stop his dumbass plan.
Whao now I get Ulysses was ultimately a let down but where did this whole "ignore the ultimate conclusion of four DLCs of build up" thing come from.
I always thought reception to Ulysses ranged from lukewarm to generally negative, not this universal consensus that he's flat out awful. I mean, to me, he's far more interesting and memorable than most if not all of the characters in Fo3/4, even if I do most consider him a cringey, messy bloated character in general.
I genuinely liked Ulysses as a character.
Fight me.
Honest hearts, old world blues, dead money then Lonesome road has always been my order of doing them.
It made more since in my mind.
HH first because it doesn't involve Father Elijah, Christine, but it does take some time to develop the motives and ideology of the Legion and more importantly is our first (timeline wise) mention of Ulysses, he went to new Canaan after you blew up his new home, did the white legs stuff, retired back in the Mojave in Wolfhorn ranch and then went and did the stuff in Old world blues
OWB next, following his trail, you find out about Christine and Father Elijah, and at then get your first true hint at LR
DM you wrap up the Story with both Christine and Father "Sealed up for all eternity" Elijah And get everyone there giving you hints about LR which is why it's last.
Bit hard to keep track in-game of which mysterious signal/clue is which among the DLCs, to be honest, at least at the start.
Also, the sound delay bug is less annoying now that I edited the .ini to allow audio threading, but gun (and other) sounds and dialogue still occasionally start to get increasingly delayed, and it's only temporarily fixed by pressing escape then going back in-game. Anyone knows a fix for that?
Even if Ulysses was a sonichu-tier character, I still couldn't ever hate him because of how damn unique it is to have a character who has been stalking you be the 'final boss' of an entirely different, expansive plot thread.
You see hints of him in the main game, and throughout every single DLC, until you ultimately face him down. The forced Courier V Courier motif is awesome, and the fact that even when it's a bit sloppy, Ulysses pretty much manages to be a natural foil to 99% of Courier's is a pretty admirable feat of writing, even if it does cause most dialogue to boil down to the bear and the bull lines everyone likes to meme about.
Also, Ulysses has the best memes in general.
