Thanks for the help with shooting ideas my way everyone. Also, another quick question. I never ended up playing Fallout 1 & 2, but realised I could pick them both up for $5 on Steam at the moment. Is it worth grabbing them, and is there anything I should know before jumping in?
Just remember that they are old. If you don't like turn based at all you're in for a bad time. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Fallout 2 definitely is harder though. A lot of people I know won't touch them on the basis that they're old and turn based. Maybe consider trying to play some Fallout 1 within the refund time. If you don't like it, refund it. Do like it, pick up Fallout 2.
So today I "met" the first major user-created content I installed inside my New Vegas, the infamous Willow companion mod https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225139/9c6c43d4-894c-4e99-b7ab-468bee38d879/20180624230751_1.jpg Gotta say, the girl kinda sticks out like a sore thumb (did you notice the Hello Kitty necklace?) and has a far less colorful background in comparison to the vanilla companions, but the voice acting is good, as are the several companion quests you get for her, which mainly revolves around tutoring her into becoming a badass adventurer in her own right. ... Please, don't hurt me
Two things to remember: There are extensive user created patches to both games you can install to fix major bugs and restore missing content, though the games are big enough as they are and pretty stable out of the box. You can run both games on android. I'd use a tablet. Despite the limitations of technology and perspective, there's so much more you can do in the original Fallouts compared to the new ones. Fallout 2 was advertised as the game where you can get married, rent out your wife to a porn studio and then get a divorce. That's literally something you can do in the game.
Today on things i'm finding out. I did not scrap a radiation barrel at the starlight drive in but I was able to somehow move it and the radiation point would stay there so I just made a giant circular fence around it as an interesting build restriction. It uh, it killed a brahmin and one of my npc's keeps falling over because they were in the water for probably long enough to kill them.. https://horobox.co.uk/u/aaSUW4.png
And yet that's where you chose to put your water pump.
Playing New Vegas for the first time over the last couple days, and I was thoroughly enjoying it. Some many great quests, I really like the humor, and the gratuitous violence is always fun (had to get Bloody Mess). Then this last night I finally went to lucky 38. And holy shit, the story is picking up and I absolutely LOVE where it's going. What a great game.
Have you net Fisro?

I just pave over it with foundations as power restrictions aren't a problem with fusion generators.
Oh hey, I remember that HK-47 mod, I think I even posted about him years ago when he was released.
Nothing new, all of this was shown at E3.
"gameplay video" my ass they didn't even show the actual gameplay bits from E3

What's with this game and the video coverage that promises to be a gameplay demo that is very much not a gameplay demo? Like the video that was labeled Live Gameplay Demonstration but was just a screen replaying footage from the E3 trailer in the background while Todd & crew were interviewed about the creation process?
Clickbait Same reason so many LP channels label E3 demo videos as LET'S PLAY GAME PART 1 E3 DEMO and then rename it down the line when the game is actually out.
In total Fallout 4 has 37 (28 if you count the Deliverer as seperate) projectile/energy weapons. 76 logically shouldn't have the Institute laser, laser musket or Broadsider, so that's down to 35, and we've seen three new weapons so far, mystery SMG, MG42, and the flintlock pistol.
I think the M2 Browning was in there as well?
Also the new heavy weapon that looks like it'll be a lightning gun.
Forgot about those two, the flintlock pistol may have been cut from 4 since it's with the the revolutionary theme.
I'd kill for just an hour of unedited gameplay footage. Show me the character creator at least so I can tell if they added anything new.
The glass on the pip-boy cabinet looks really good compared to how translucent materials generally look in Fallout 4.

My impressions are much the same, but I still need a solution to the weird sound delay bug I struggle with, unofficial patch or no
I cant be the only one here who thought having a psychic old druggie basically just tell you what you need to do is NOT a good plot idea, right?
Mama Murphy would have been cool if she was acknowledged as a straight up Psyker (however the fuck you spell it) instead of drug-addled grandma with a melting face
Not like it's unprecedented with the tribal in 2 giving you hints in your dreams.
Yeah I wouldn't have had such a problem with her had she been wearing the Psyker helmet or actually had the premise explained in any kind of detail. Psykers are a thing in fallout lore but Murphy's abilities aren't presented as Psyker powers, they are presented as ~drugs magic just go with it~. I just think there are better ways they could have done a psychic character than dressing an old lady with an irritating voice up as a fortune teller, and having you fetch her drugs so she can tell the future lmao. Can you even ask her about the source of her powers? Why is it that all of the lore in fallout 4 seems to be delivered in the shortest and fastest possible manner with absolutely no time set aside for elaboration?. Every character acts like they are in too much of a rush to do any world-building, Even the Enclave are mentioned in passing as ~dangerous rebels~ with no option to ask Danse for further information on them. Sure you could argue that it's ~realistic~ for npcs to not share their life story with the player character- but this is supposed to be an RPG. You are supposed to talk to people as they are usually your primary source of information about the fantasy world you are exploring. Having everyone give you the briefest possible rundown on the lore whilst hand-waving any questions you might have just makes the game feel false and lacking in any kind of depth.
Apparently Fallout 4 has more dialogue than Skyrim and Oblivion combined, what is it all?
