don't worry i'm sure their 20 dollars a year online service will have all of these major flaws patched out for a seamless online experience
For some reason at WalMart, Pink and Green Joycons are 24.88 dollars. I can't take advantage of this because I'm in Australia, but those in the US should take advantage of this while you can.
I went to two Walmarts and they were out Oh well, to be honest I don't really need them so maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
So I'm thinking of buying a Switch, as Amazon Australia just started up, has them on sale, and has a promo code for $20 off any purchase. Just wondering if there's any accessories and games I should pick up, as I'm pretty new to Nintendo consoles outside of Fire Emblem and Pokemon!
A glass screen protector for your Switch's screen is a must.
The Amfilm glass protectors are really good and cheap. Also if you're gonna mostly buy digital games get a 128gb Micro SD card.
get a carrying case, and maybe a decent screen protector. in terms of games, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Zelda BotW, and Xenoblade 2 are worth picking up for sure.
Right, screen protector is a good idea. Will give those games a look too and try find a decent case as well. Thanks!
Physically buying has no real benefit other than the fact that you don't have to (usually) download much, so if your internet sucks it's the best option to play immediately. Here's a sale on carrying cases if needed
depending on where you live and what stores you have nearby, buying games physically can sometimes be cheaper - i've found that the Target in my town usually has new switch games for slightly less than the retail price
Alrighty, thanks for the help everyone. Think I might try picking up Splatoon 2 and Breath of the Wild to start with, and probably grab Octopath when that comes out! Thanks!
I'm actually really interested to see how Nintendo will tackle it. Nintendo is very japanese-themed traditional in their working culture, as explained by a Splatoon dev in an interview. They don't look what the competition does and do their own thing (with all its up- and downsides). So we might see a unique approach towards the online service when they announce how exactly everything will go. Or it's going to be dumb. But I think it will be half good and half dumb, as usually when it's online stuff with Nintendo.
Hey, can anyone help me with this? My switch isn't connecting to the TV, and I have no clue why. It's clearly connected, but nothing's showing up. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1880/1d2a6ad3-4d2c-4fc4-bd5a-84dca461ca44/20180630_171959.jpg Is my dock faulty or something?
Have you tried a different HDMI port if your TV has one, or a different TV overall? It might be your dock but from my own personal experience it's more often then not the TV's HDMI port that is faulty.
I've tried with a couple ports and two TVs and the result has been the same.
Maybe try adjusting the resolution in settings>TV Output then, in portable mode. Are your TVs 720p ones, cause if that's the case that could explain why it's not displaying the image properly. Otherwise you might really have a faulty dock.
Have you tried this possible solution below? Ok folks, I think, I found the solution to this common problem. The solution is not obvious: The dock ONLY works, if the cables are inserted in the right ORDER: Take the switch out of the dock and detach all cables from the dock, then: 1st: Plug in the dock power cable (power adapter is already plugged to wall socket) 2nd: Plug in the HDMI cable (already connected to the tv set, tv set is on, hdmi input selected) 3rd: Insert the switch into the dock => The green light goes on and it switches to TV HDMI Hypothesis: The dock-firmware crashes when the HDMI is connected to the tv before the dock gets power from the power adapter. Furthermore the insert-event of the switch into the dock is needed to turn on hdmi in the dock. So the switch must be out at the beginning. Well, I tried all that stuff so I guess I'm buying a new dock. Thanks for the help though.
Mario Odyssey speedrun has just started at GDQ: https://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

Yeah just tell me when snake and ice climbers go up for pre-order.
Reminds me of seeing this custom around the time Smash U came out. Wonder how the real deal will compare? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/83/a5/c9/83a5c9dde600788f1d4b8a98b5c627aa.jpg
I found that pick up and play games suck as Mario Kart and Puyo Puyo Tetris work better as downloadable titles, like if you want to bring them to a friend's house or just waste a few minutes like you would a mobile game. Games that you'd commit to for days at a time like BOTW or Odyssey would be better as a physical release.
Also if you get DOOM, get that digital, as it's really well paced for shorter sessions. Missions are less than an hour each, yet get intense enough to be satisfying, and the arcade mode in particular is a great time killer.
I'm already seeing used copies of Mario Tennis Aces pop up, what the hell.
With how focused it is on multiplayer, there was bound to be a ton of people not interested- especially if they thought it was going to be more like the old games. I don't think that will affect sales, though, just a side effect of the kind of game it is.
Why is that surprising? People trade in games for a variety of reasons no matter if they just bought it or not.
For me it doubled my need of ac Delfino Kingdom dlc.

that price is out of whack amazon tomfoolery. in the US they cost $80 (60 gbp) for the dock+charger+hdmi cord
