The TF2 Facepunch EU Server is looking for a new mod to do more frequent game events. The Server is kinda rotting away and both me and Nebrassy can't do game-events for a variety of reasons. If you have interest, hit either me or Nebrassy up on Discord. All the qualifications you need are: You need to have a brain You need to be a known Reg @ FP. Both me and Nebrassy feel alright with you being a mod. Thanks for your attention.
At least last year we had a blog post by this time.
Do you think they'll tell us when they stop doing content adding updates?
We'll probably notice it ourselves, given however the game is still printing money I doubt it.
That sucks, TF2WH was by far the best trading experience for awhile, aside from the slow bots. I especially had a lot of fun collecting trash renames since they were easy to find and practically free, so to pay respects I'm hosting a 3 day long raffle including: The top 3 worst renames I've found, https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/f4022852-4069-4815-9e58-d1f01dfd475a/not.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/69cadc34-b08d-4a3e-99f8-79084d3cce4f/die.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/f183221d-9075-47b9-8d15-7fd315185e70/anus.png A rename I just bought with my remaining credits (its name is the raffle password btw), https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/a815860f-a133-49cf-adf3-6c0c149357c1/flamer.png Along with a full color Flair! I found on TF2WH that is by far the best decal item I've seen in TF2. https://youtu.be/M_UR201plc8 https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/88f3c07b-ecee-4555-adc7-3fe57cd97f0f/Pog.png BONUS SHIT RENAME: Reply in this thread with your best explanation for what the fuck "Chicken Flock Juice" could mean and I'll trade this directly to the one with the best answer! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1888/b7175f53-56a6-46fa-af9f-08908eb7fb03/Chicken Flock Juice.png 3 day raffle entry period, 3 day Chicken Flock Juice entry period, enter here if you want some sick Alf pogs or an awful rename that isn't Chicken Flock Juice.
couldn't you save this raffle thing for the rename thread instead so actual discussion can still happen (as rare as it is)?
Well, this thread’s kinda over until something happens to speculate on. (“General discussion” usually means trying to quarantine random crit posts and complaining about how valve sucks and doesn’t play the yame
It's been nearly ten months and the Dragon's Fury still causes stutters since it shoots over 500 fireball sprites every time.
TF2WH played a big part in enjoying TF2 for me and many others so I don't see any problem posting the raffle here. But I'll change the reply contest part to not clog up this thread, sorry.
Gunboats = Blast jump distance traveled, rocket jumper/sticky jumper would track consecutive rocket jumps achieved or something similar, and booties/peg leg would track distance charged?
they'll NEVER admit they are no longer interested in tf2 because that'd be a company failure and oh boy is that shameful!!!
How would being no longer interested in a now 11-year-old game be a company failure? As big of a success as the game is, I think that it's undeniable, even with all the updates, that the game's zenith has been reached multiple times at this point. All 9 Class updates being released, all 9 Meet the Team videos being released, the release of Mann vs. Machine, the End of the Line community video release... It's not like there's still a whole well of opportunities for workers at Valve to sift through. I love the game to death, but even with it being as big of a success as it is, I'm not surprised in the least that development has slowed as much as it has, and as much as I'd love for the comic series to actually fucking wrap up some time this millennium and the fabled Heavy update to be released, it's not realistic to expect it any more than at all, which was proven with Jungle Inferno. I know this game means a lot to a lot of you, I really do, it means a lot to me too. But there's a LOT to it that some of you take for granted. I've seen games that were successes waiting to happen completely shot in the foot by foolhardy dev teams. I've seen games with potential oozing out of every mechanic die for no good reason other than "the devs didn't care enough". I've also seen games with huge supportive fanbases continue for years without updates (looking at you, Melee), as well as get shot down by developers because the money they could make from it wasn't "all of the money in the world". TF2 is, if anything, a gaming juggernaut. It's not going to go down in history as one of the most influential games ever, up there with games like Super Mario 64, or Doom/Quake, or World of Warcraft, or GTA III. But it's been 11 years, over 200 updates, hundreds of new weapons, and hundreds of new maps, and the game is still one of the most played on steam. What am I trying to say with this needless and self-indulging diatribe? Chill the fuck out and be patient. I'm not saying "be happy you get more than nothing", but all this naysaying when the devs have all but confirmed that more updates are coming in the relative future is doing nothing for the community. Play some other games while you wait. Pick up some new games while the steam sale is on, try out some similar games. Break out some old games. I've been having a blast playing games like Enter the Gungeon while I wait for the new update to hit. Would you rather waste this time here, pressing f5 until you break your keyboard, hoping for the tiniest inkling of a new update, or would you rather be spending your time enjoying other things life has to offer while we wait?
not that I imagine you're responding to me but either way this "wow real life" talk has zero business on a internet forum specialized into said videogame which people clearly come around to look for said news. At any rate, we all know TF2 isn't a failure. But valve is full of big egos who will never admit their wrongs in any meaningful way so they'd rather stay silent forever than do so.
Not Eric or Dave, they've been working on this game 11+ years. (or more cynically they're the only ones who can work with the spaghetti code and they're training Jill to take over so they can retire)
Just because this is a forum for the videogame doesn't mean its userbase has to devolve into becoming unhealthily in love with it. It's like (kind of a shoddy comparison but bare with me) how on tumblr, echo chambers result in this perceived notion that being mentally ill is okay, and it's better to complain about it and revel in it because there are people there that support it, instead of getting help and leading a better life. It's an unhealthy attitude to have. Just because Valve has been notoriously shitty and TF2 has been its whipping boy for as long as it has doesn't mean it's a healthy attitude to be constantly pessimistic about the game, just like it isn't healthy to constantly wonder "is it today? is it today? Is it today? is it today?". I also think it's fair to assume that kind of attitude with so many posts being about "so what do you guys think? this week? next week?" It's not as bad as I'm making it out to be, obviously, but I'd rather help people realize that eventually it could lapse into that, over just letting it "run its course". It's not like we have much else to discuss anyways.
its been almost 9 years since i started playing tf2 and i have yet to find something that can genuinely be enjoyed as much as this is. the closest thing i have found so far is splatoon, but even then its hardly anything like tf2 can offer, even in its current state.
NECA has announced that they will release the rest of the TF2 Figures in October this month! Team Fortress 2 – 7″ Scale Action Figures – Series 4 RED | NECAO.. And they don't look like they were made by a chinese child labour company, hooray! https://i.imgur.com/YjINMLt.jpg Took em like 4 years but what can ya do? https://i.imgur.com/8bk93PN.png
its unncanny to see the sniper without his glasses.
Medic looks like they put his head through a trash compactor. Scout looks pretty accurate
TF2 is the only PvP multiplayer shooter I can currently stomach in today's climate. I'm closely monitoring Quake Champions to see if that game is worth investing time in.
Scout's got the thousand yard stare on him.
Interestingly enough the sniper has a watch just further pushing the watch conspiracy https://i.imgur.com/5y58Eg2.png
For some reason sniper's shoes make me think that its not comfortable to run with them on.
You can, but you would have to decompile the model and recompile after modifying the QC, so it's a no-go for anything but community servers. In the model's QC you can find a section like this: $LOD 9 { replacemodel "c_crusaders_crossbow_reference.smd" "c_crusaders_crossbow_lod1.smd" } Where 9 is the distance from the camera(?) in hammer units at which the new LoD will pop in.
There are console/launch commands that disable LODs entirely, so no matter the distance, the models will always be the highest quality. I don't remember them but they shouldn't be too hard to find, I'd imagine going to the Tf2 wiki's various console command pages should yield some results. You're under the impression that the Sniper runs?
A long time ago, I got traded a normal invis watch that was renamed to "make like the french and RUN!!!". Also, interesting survey. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238427/35bc93e0-39f9-455a-acee-af8b2cdcb5e9/huh.png
where's the "leave" rating
I don't think it'd be too taxing to turn it on, unless you've already tested it and can confirm. I'd imagine the hurdles the game already has to jump through on modern CPUs would be the bigger obstacle - if you can manage to run it at such a high FPS now, and since a majority of cosmetics these days don't have LODs implemented anyways, then it should probably work fine.
