don't forget pinion ads which interrupted your game every time you died
So annoying seeing people criticize Casual in r/tf2 and not even bothering to see if things are improved. I literally just saw "Casual sucks. It still has no autobalance."
The email I wrote already mentioned this, but if I recall correctly the old quickplay-system - after setting valve servers to be the default - had a filter for community servers, right? Any community servers with extreme modifications would not be included. Another thing I suggested was a "quickplay-like" option for community servers that would coexist with casual and competitive. I personally find it difficult to find a solution in drawing a line between the "10x hightower no cart deathmatch MADNESS" servers, which are striving - and the simple, vanilla community servers, which are essentially dead, if they don't have a regular playerbase that is 100% dedicated to the server (Ex: THG). I have doubts in a community-enabled rating system, primarily because it could be easily abused. Bots? Streamers? Witch-Hunts? Couldn't this backfire into only enabling the "over-the-top-modified" community servers, as they are the most popular atm as far as community servers go?
what I had in mind was something like, a new browser, a vanilla tab where the server owner must ensure that there are no game changing mods on the server, an option to report servers and any erver breaking the rules gets blacklisted, but that will require valve to curate everything, and after that comes a "custom" tab for other stuff, with better filters, and also a quickplay like system for vanilla servers
imagine using the boston basher and successfully landing a hit on a deadringered spy only to see the bleed stop after 1 second thanks to valve's stacked junk balance that makes zero sense anymore.
what is jill's email anyways? i wanted to email a tf2 dev to ask a couple of questions, and he seems like the best bet for actually getting a response.
His first name and his surname's first letter + @valvesoftware.com. His name is John Schoenick.
Are you subbed to HLDS? The last update was pushed out by him - so finding his email shouldn't be hard. Please though, only send emails you actually expect them to answer to. "When is the next update?" is probably something that will be filtered to spam :V

Like any automated and barely-regulated system, the workshop has always had bad actors push "content" onto it.
hmm at least it's already gone
epic call-out my scro, sure showed him!
so it would be "johns@valvesoftware.com" correct?
Spy buffs like that are easier than fixing Spy's bugs and inconsistencies.
Yep, just make sure to delete the email from your post so no bots find it.

But now Jill's email is in your post!!!!!!
It's taken down for I assume good reason but for those who didn't see it, what was the item?
"totally not a scam link" for free unusual give away
Oh that's boring, I was hoping it was gonna be something like really far out and just not ok for steam
Valve has no concept of quality control.
They used to, now they are steadfastly dedicated to keeping company size small by automating everything.
I still get a chuckle out of the updated Valve website... https://i.gyazo.com/fa7896b30b55b79b2080c609116c93a8.png If only.
The Lab, Artifact, Moondust, In the Valley of Gods. No matter much you hate these games or don't think they're real games, just vr tech demos or walking simulators or Hearthstone clones, Gabe didn't lie when he said they're making games again.
The Lab was a tech demo at best. Artifact is a game, not the game many want though just from seeing the general opinion. Moondust is another tech demo. And sure, In the Valley of the Gods looks interesting. Personally I know what I'm looking for in a game, substance, depth and not just a walk from A to B or to show off tech. I'm not asking Valve to return to their old ways, just for something new that I wouldn't already get from another developer.
Those games (besides In the Valley of Gods) were created since that's what the devs personally wanted to make, they make games when they see a reason too. Gabe himself literally called Artifact the Half-Life 2 of digital card games. We can only hope a cabal boss suddenly gets a taste for single player fps games.
Unpopular opinion: fall damage and slower backward speed don’t add much to the game, and might as well have been absent at release.
Thing is: backwards speed decrease has been broken since release. People subconsciously bypass it by going backwards diagonally: pressing W and A or D. It working would be a good thing: it would buff pushes.
I agree with the slower backpedaling speed, but I think fall damage adds to the challenge of getting around the map, and makes you think more about the routes you take. It also makes for hilarious "crater" moments when you frag an opponent with a deadly fall. I do think there should be some kind of item that negates it, though (other than the PBPP).
Fall damage makes rocket- or sticky-jumping a bit riskier and allows for more deep Soldier rocket-jumping - if you have Gunboats equipped and can time it right, you can take less damage by cushioning your fall with another rocket jump. Also it serves to reward popping enemies high into the air, so even if you can't hit an airshot, there's still incentive for aiming at the feet with high-knockback weapons.
