I appreciate you sharing that. I'd previously thought the best way to counter Vaccinator was to go for a charge crit as Demoknight, but I knew that wasn't likely to work against a Scout pocket. Still, though, it says a lot about how broken Vaccinator is when your best way of countering it is to be a Huntsman Sniper or Demoknight, or just use another Vaccinator. It depends on the situation. It can occasionally work if they aren't expecting it, but there's also plenty of other factors such as distance, or if you're able to bait them into coming closer. I like to at least have it as an option, even if it isn't always the right call.
Also you have to be incredibly close to even come close to the DPS you'd have at medium range with the Minigun, and at that point why not just use the Minigun?
You're assuming you'll already be revved up. If you're not, it's suicidal to rev up when encountering a Demoman if he has any means of cover remotely near by.
Of course I'm assuming I'll already be revved up. Heavy isn't a hard class: You don't engage, you let them engage on you. You should only be not revved when you're moving to your next position to hold. It's why so many cocky pub Heavies get fucked, especially by Snipers. The only time you should be pushing without a fight already happening is when a Medic wants to uber you and is smart enough to know to do it before a Sniper or Spy could ruin your push.
Obviously it is better to use the minigun when you can, which is majority of the time. It's your primary, after all. The shotgun, on Heavy, is only there as a backup when something is going wrong. You can do just fine with or without it, it doesn't play a huge role in how you play Heavy.

UFO Defense is a whole different ballpark to modern XCOM. In modern XCOM you can evade losing ANYONE. In UFO you can't.
Are they really? When I use vaccinator, I take full damage from an arrow. I always noticed that huntman and melee are the best vaccinator counters.

Rule of thumb for resistances is that if you are unsure, its probably bullet.

Pomson is bullet damage now, learned that the hard way when I was fighting against 100% Res. Bullet Vaccinator bots and was doing zero damage.
Kind of wish the energy weapons were considered "Energy/Fire" so that fire would have more importance on Vaccinator...

every single non-reskin laser weapon should just count as their own type of damage and therefore counter the vaccinator, including the cow mangler once it gets a nerf for competitive

Valve, if you're not going to release anything until October again, would it at least be possible to provide us with some morsels of information as you did last year?
I doubt they will ship a non Halloween major update in October again, it makes more sense to spread them out so they can have a full Scream Fortress and make money on those crates.
