This year's the year!
surprisingly questionable
either way we have plenty of new game releases for 2018 to tide us over, me personally, im waiting for artifact so I can finally quit awful hearthstone
Eh, I enjoyed the Update. Like Meet Your Match, it was really innovative. Added a FREAKING Jetpack (you know you didn't expect that, nobody of us did), made Pyro flames consistent with the visuals and fixed mojo, a beautiful SFM, and YETIS. Not to mention the completely new contracts, and 5 new maps. And I really enjoyed the universal inspect.
I mean, let's get a general image here:
[DISAGREE] For this month
[AGREE] For August
[LATE] For later this year
[BIG WOOP] For not this year at all
I think this month because im fuckin stupid. But in reality its probably going to be august. The TF team is really missing out on kids who are off school and looking to play something new. A fresh new update would attract some new players probably.
I doubt a new update would attract "kids who are off school" unless it were on the level of Jungle Inferno, promotion included. Fortnite is incredibly huge right now, and it, Overwatch, and Rocket League all have a good grip on the youth especially with summer events
disagree. JI saw tens of thousands of people launch the game for the first time in a while. A good update, at a better time of year, would without a doubt attract new players. Especially if it were to make it onto the steam store front.
You could make the "well other games are more popular atm" argument for literally every month or year.
I wanna be optimistic for this month given Jungle Inferno was meant to launch in Summer but eh
Honestly being facestabbed by a spy as you're looking at him is one of the most fun things I've encountered in this game.
In fact, it's so funny I forgot to laugh.
Or enjoy it.
Or want to play in the same match anymore.
Maybe one day this game will have lag compensation that won’t favor bad players who adjust it for cheap kills like that.
The spy as a class needs to be rethought too so that it isn’t an exploitable gimmick at best, and an overly situational one trick at worst.
Did anyone on the inside make any kind of hint or indication that there was even a Summer Update at all this year? Because the closest thing we got around this time last year was the Rainy Day Cosmetic Case, that's it.
Y'all are setting yourselves up for disappointment, annual/seasonal updates that amount to more than a new crate hasn't been the precedent for a good long while now. If anything, we should be anticipating a "the Heavy update is in development, here's a preview of some balance changes" post, since they gave us a heads-up last year before dropping Jungle Inferno in October. And that's assuming they've even made any real progress on a new Heavy update, considering they "announced" the Jungle Update back in November 2016. If they're putting in roughly as much work in on this Heavy update as they did Jungle Inferno (and if they're tying it into a community contest again), we've got at least a year.
Part of me wants to believe they'll just drop it one day out of the blue, but given the direction the TF Team has taken regarding major updates in recent years, I just don't see that happening.
I'm thinking it will drop earlier because the team gave us no information whatsoever going in. Meanwhile, we had a cornucopia of factoids coming from a variety of sources at this time last year, partially because the team probably realized the release would be late.
[Diamond] For "whenever it comes its ok, even though I still enjoy the game and its still fun to play it, I can live without the need for an impeding update because i'll enjoy it whenever it comes. cheers"
I don't even play the game right now because someone bought me Dead by Daylight. And still I enjoy TF2. My enjoyment of TF2 is only vaguely related to the game itself. Life is TF2. Existence is TF2. TF2 is never not. TF2 is the game I always return to. Go away with your updates, I don't need them. I merely need update speculation.
That is not correct though. Annual/Seasonal updates are, and were still a thing - because Jungle Inferno was never supposed to launch outside of summer.
The reason why people are expecting a Summer Update is because, if you view Jungle Inferno as a Summer Update given it was planned for Summer, there always was. Because Summer is cash season.
As far as actual content goes It's not like people(atleast me) are expecting another Jungle Inferno, toh.
As much as I disagree with the idea that people should be asking about the update every day, I have to agree - Summer updates have been consistent in TF2, and the only reason JI wasn't a summer update was because it got delayed. It'd be silly to think they won't do a summer update of any kind.
As I read that last sentence, I was struck with the horrible feeling that you might eat your words.
Something about them reminded me of a post made not long before Day 4 of the Uber Update, saying how ridiculous it would be for TF2 to go free-to-play.
Hey guys, so while checking SteamDB for something, i've noticed an abnormal drop in player numbers today, at like 5am or so
https://i.imgur.com/NzEMJNw.png
It's probably nothing major, but it's really weird - considering that the player numbers at the same time of the day in previous days didn't drop so hard - perhaps Jill deleted some more idling/achievement bots? Weird nonetheless. See for yourselves anyway https://steamdb.info/app/440/graphs/
obviously this is prep for the update this week introducing a metal sink
Here's hoping it involves that one "New Zealium" weapon idea people have been tossing around.
new zealium? like silver/chrome weapons?
that actually sounds much much cooler than blinding gold australium
there'll never be shiny or add-on stocks again because that would require a mvm tour.
If you enjoy the current laggy as fuck TF2 interface and UI, there is something seriously wrong with you.
Laggy interface...?
The client hitches when opening things for the first time. Like the find a game dialog, class inventorys etc
Ah, that. I use a SSD now, so I have forgotten about that.
It's usable and doesn't break too much, but there's a lot of room for improvement. The root menu is in the TF2 style, but the options, console, and server browser are in the old Source style. The advanced options aren't, though, just the normal options. Plus, anything 3D in GUI elements lacks any anti-aliasing, except when forced in your graphics card's control panel. Even more annoying is how loading screens still have wild and uneven framerates, something that's possible to mitigate these days. There's also quite a few odd design choices as well.
The whole thing could best be described as "chaotic," and actually pretty fitting for TF2 in a meta sort of way. It still desperately needs streamlining and optimization, and Panorama would help with that, but TF2 will probably be stuck with VGUI2 for the rest of its days regardless.
Advance options can be accessed in either the original source format (advanced... in video or multiplayer, can't remember which tab) and the updated format. And yes, it is endlessly confusing.
Any engine improvements from CSGO would be welcome, really.
But if talking about Panorama itself, it could just put an end to all custom huds, especially with Valve's strict policy, and if not, then just all old huds will stop working.
tf2's interface has never lagged out for me idk what you are on about
if you wanna change something, change the default settings for the game because having to give a friend thats new to tf2 a custom autoexec is p stupid
