Kind of curious about this for a while. But besides Sniper Rifles, Rocket Launchers, Grenade/Sticky Launchers and Miniguns, what other weapons are classified as "Heavy Weapons"? Of those that may not be in the game, are any potential viable to be given to the Heavy as a new primary that could change up heavies play style to be different? I mean, being the Heavy Weapons Guy, it seems like it couldn't be unreasonable to give him different types of heavy weapons as long as they aren't ones used by other classes already.
Weapons that are too heavy to be wielded by baby men, weapons that require strong sovereign man to wield effectively.
that's alot of words for a post that means nothing in the end.
yes heavyweapons can get a new non-minigun primary. no he can't have another class's gun.
I never suggested he get other classes weapons at all. I was asking if there were any other weapons classified as heavy weapons that could work for heavy that aren't in the game or used by other classes.
yea?
regardless, the demolition class got a shield and a sword.
Any gun is heavy. The majority of them are made of metal.
Sure, but there's a difference between "Heavy Weapons" (a class of weapons) and "heavy weapons" (A weapon that has a lot of weight).
No shit?
Lord exor is that you
Yes.
only one not in the game, looks like that's gonna be our new heavy weapon
just fuckin' pick up a few mortars and point em directly at the enemy
Double-barrel minigun for Heavy when?

SMNC. That was the game overwatch was actually based off of, not tf2.
It had 6v6, the sprint soldier, the rocket launcher mobility babe, the monkey tank, the hurt/heal gun and everything, in futuristic fantasy.
Clearly, a blatant ripoff.
I could discuss SMNC and its amazing character/world design and its actual impact on games like Overwatch all day. i could also talk about how I have over 1,200 hours on a game that lived for about a year when I could barely get 30fps on it all day.
But at the end of the day, MNC/SMNC's Gunner has not only the Mortar weapon, but also the double-barrel minigun, both of which evade the Heavy's item list!

Looks like Demoman's cat is getting a new unusual.
I'd like a new Heavy weapon that de-emphasizes his effectiveness when paired with a Medic, but re-emphasizes his effectiveness when paired with everyone else.
Like, give him an AOE or passive heal or something more support-based, but with a downside that keeps him from being OP if he's being pocketed.
Not to compare TF2 to Overwatch, since they're very different games, but one thing OW gets really right is making the Tank classes fun. When you're playing as Reinhardt, you're always the center of attention; you go right to the front lines and heroically absorb damage so your other team members can do their job. It makes you feel important in the grand scheme of your team comp.
Heavy, meanwhile, is a relatively thankless job. Whenever I'm on offense on a Payload map, I basically just end up pushing the cart by myself while everyone else rushes ahead and racks up kills. On a good day, Heavy makes you feel invincible; you and your team roll into a choke like Upward final as if it's nothing. You face in the general direction of an Engie nest, sneeze, and watch the killfeed light up. It's an incredible feeling. But then you also have games where more than half of your playtime is spent sitting on the cart by yourself until playing Heavy just isn't viable anymore because no one wants to check the enemy Sniper.
Which isn't to say that a Heavy should be a jack-of-all-trades class that kicks all kinds of ass in any kind of weather, but as of now I'd say he's the class that relies most on the competency of his team in order to succeed (at least Engie has tools like the Gunslinger and Rescue Ranger). TF2 is a team-based game, so any item that encourages mutually-beneficial team play would only have a positive effect on the meta.
Imagine if the next major update hits and it has nothing to do with the Heavy.
I think some users might go ballistic.
The best way to expect things from TF2 updates is to not expect anything at all. It's better that way.
"Don't worry, Engineer fans! We only left out the Heavy!"
How about a Heavy primary that:
Does not require spinning up.
Has a magazine size that is smaller than Heavy's reserve ammo (this is to say, requires periodic reloading).
Has a non-trivial reload time.
Slows heavy down when firing (but not as much as spinning up a stock minigun does).
Prevents some/all/most overheal.
I'm intentionally leaving numbers out of this because game balance is not precisely my forte. I'd love a weapon that allowed for a roaming Heavy playstyle. I did intentionally leave out the damage/accuracy ramp up mechanic. The main one reason is that I think it's bullshit and always has been. If it must remain in then for the above weapon maybe full damage after half a second of firing? I think overheal reduction/removal is a sufficient trade off for the stupid ramp up mechanic. I am completely biased on this subject.

Holy fuck so that's what NewPunch does when one posts a link to a Wackypedia page. Something like the PK is what I had in mind for the model. Heavy could call her "Masha."
Well I guess it's official. Valve decided to kill the summer updates, and instead only want major updates which will happen earliest in like September. Dark years are ahead of us.
We should start a movement. How about this?
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Gib heby update volvo
fuck no.
you are aware we are still in summer right
I can't wait for people to spam every single website and corporation in existence, throwing massive amounts of shit at Volvo, only for Valve to come out with "Sorry, we're working on it."
For all the fuss about cosmetics and how they blend with the art style,i can atleast tell people apart and helps me focus people i really dont like confronting today.
Knowing Valve, I seriously doubt they would do anything for TF2 in late July or August. Pretty sure they just said "Screw it, we're gonna take the summer off and just make an update when vacation is over." I just really lost all faith in the company tbh.
