yeah just identify the tank you can't see and aim at the weakpoints that are completely hidden in the split second you get to react in before they kill you, GOD you guys!
Objectively false. A player with camo has a direct advantage over non-camo in realism. It also increases your reaction time and half a second can mean the difference between life and death. Camo also obscures weakspots like turret, rings meaning it can become nigh-impossible to cripple certain tanks from the front. You are wrong.
I deeply regret not buying the bushes when they were first released
I use bushes to breakup the silhouette of my tank, if you are stationary with bushes facing front most people wont see you because they are used to finding the outline of a tank, if you dont see the obvious shape of a turret or hull you basically ignore it until something obvious like the turret traversing. By then its far too late and you will be damaged and unlikely to shoot back, if you are very unlucky and where looking at a different part of the screen you may not have even seen the firing effects. It sucks.
Holy shit fuck the HE slewing MGs of the American and German boats. I swear to god nothing kills me faster than a quick burst from those death rays.

Jesus fuckin Christ cursed image u got there.
Hoo boy, and here I though ground battles were spawn camp fests. Naval battles takes the fucking cake.
Yeah naval gets bad especially when the enemy team goes full CAS mode since AI AA gunners on boats can't depth perception and aiming guns at planes with the wonk offset camera is a nightmare.
It's not the worst when you have a gun boat with 3-4 high-caliber turrets but torpedo boats and other small crafts can do very little.
By pure luck my gunners have been regular terrors to planes. Running the British naval tree and having a Bofors and two oerlikons on AA is fucking orgasmic. But this fucking spawn camping though. It's not too uncommon for me to spawn and have some asshat meters away from me.
It would help if there was spawn protection. LS-3 and co are little demons. Every single one is rocking HE belts and us soviets have a lot of our early boats either unarmored or made of wood :/
Just got the M1 Abrams and its fucking stupid, pretty good. As a sidenote, is it just me or does everything at BR 10.0 give you like 50% of the rewards you would get if you were using a lower tier tank? I can get 16,000 Vehicle RP and like 13,000 Module RP a match playing BR 6.7 and 7.7 easy, but with the Abrams you dunk 10 tanks and 2 planes and you still only get like 6000 / 8000 RP...

The crew system in general is shit for naval (keep in mind I'm only running arcade right now). Visible deck crew more or less can't die (or at the very least don't need to be replaced like in ground forces). This means that if you have a turret with no armor plating and just a gun on a stick, it's more resilient to damage than a properly armored turret. Please note I'm not saying they should be able to die as that would make a lot of boats unusable. Some boats don't even start freshly spawned with full crew. IIRC Boats like the MO-4 (and OD200?) do this. They start in the ballpark of 90% crew. It's supposed to be that each hull segment has a certain amount of "crew" assigned to it in addition to the visible crew in Xray mode. In practice this is wildly inconsistent as torpedo boats can often have more or less the entire hull blackened while still operating at full capacity. Boats like the MO-4 however are even worse as they don't even have to lose a hull segment to get crew killed. All you need is the front most segment of the boat to get to orange alone and your crew is fucked on top of the already reduced crew count when fresh spawning. HE is stupid effective in automatics for taking out crew. Even against armored boats, low caliber shell spewers like the LS3 are able to obliterate crew behind armor.
whats the difference between the pr 123 cosmic omlets and the premium pr 123 a-11 steak sauce?
The hickory smoked flavor of 14.5mm mahineguns.
Honestly thought I had had a stroke when reading these for a moment.
Oof, I guess I was playing the SC-497 American Sub Chaser wrong. The Bofor on the ship fore is kind of a trap, you should broadside and instead use the 3 MGs as much as you can. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/b51231c3-251e-4e63-b510-e9d70e25a81a/bofornofor.webm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2ktxPSlOl4 I had my first actually good match in naval, after looking up stuff about boat aiming. I feel like I became a man today. I was so excited about that last torp kill I forgot to pump the boat out. Yes, arcade, I'm a filthy casual
can you share with us plebs
I googled war thunder naval aiming and the results basically taught me two things, one I didn't know about, and one I'd guessed at but didn't understand: Q lets you toggle between firing both torpedoes at once versus one or the other tube, and when in single mode you get a firing arc and a targeting prediction arc if an enemy ship is targeted (that's how I pulled off those lucky long-range shots) With guns and firing at moving targets, you have to lead your shots -- this I knew, but what I didn't know is that the game doesn't give you any kind of accurate aiming reticle for boats, unlike say airplanes, you have to lead shots by yourself. The reticles are only where you're trying to aim and where your gun crew(s)'s aim actually is pointing, but you have to predict where your target's going to be when the bullets arrive and adjust based on the tracers until you hit. This's already been said in this thread, but being in a fast little reserve boat is great for torpedoes against big ships since larger boats have slower, wider turning radii and have trouble with dodging accurately-aimed torpedoes once they can detect them, but stay away from their guns because they will murder you.
Managed to get my 5 naval wins in to get the free rocket-ship for soviets. Now to never play boats again because I found it painful every step of the way, it's just that I'm a sucker for free premiums.
RP Costs for FPE and Parts significantly reduced for Rank 5 and 6 vehicles! Only until March 1st 2019 as a 'trial'
afaik the only difference is that the a-11 has a hydrofoil at the front, which can make it harder to hit shit when at high speed because your nose will always be pointing up, but it lets you go a tiny bit faster (96kph vs 92kph)

https://youtu.be/17WVlVkKhDM Well that explains a few things.
this is somehow worst than arma 3's controls.
I don't know why so many people have issues with ship controls, it took me like 3 games to work out I needed to be manually adjusting the aiming range as a ship moved rather than being stuck with the auto range.
Funny that tankers and pilots have full-fledged basic tutorials in game, but helicopters and ships do not have any (yet).
