I play in arcade which simplifies gun aiming (you just get the range, not the offset business), but I was having trouble getting a 'feel' for what is the appropriate lead ranging for various target-and-self-in-motion scenarios and was just spraying and praying. I still suck at gunnery, which is why I didn't highlight any clips of that in my video and the one time you see me shooting I suck and miss a lot while engaging in a turning battle.
But where I was falling down was not knowing about some keybinds and options that were added in, like Q for tube selection and predictive firing arc UI (in arcade at least). That video on aiming also taught me about the drop-down to default what your AI gunners are set to target, although I'm not sure I have any boats where this is relevant, yet. I think I might start to do better now that I've had someone give me an actual explanation on things. (Or maybe I'll just continue to suck lol)
Very informative video concerning the two biggest nemesis of the second World War.

War thunder used to have weak amour the King tigers because the poor quality of the metal back then.
They removed it not too long ago I think

This post was brought to you by the long schlong gang. Effects of the sale are apparent.
While you're all playing with those I'm just here in my G-5 (ShVAK)

Literally a straight upgrade from the vanilla G-5, and given that a lot of the other starter boats have much more potent guns (cough ls3 cough), I think it should have been somehow incorporated into the normal non premium tree.
Im suprised no one has blown up about the whole "premium ships that are straight up better reserve boats" deal.
Like the German one gets a 20mm cannon at 1.0.
Also im in a love hate relationship with the 88mm barge. On the one hand it delets anything but on the other hand if there is even the slightest bit of a wave the thing is impossible to land hits with reliably.
Setting the guns to use time delay shells and then letting the gunner takeover is hilarious though, just lock it to air targets, sit behind an island and go get a coffee. Come back to 3 or so air kills from doing straight up nothing.
Jokes on you, I used my magic "decrease speed for more range but actually increase it" torpedo mod to 1 shot you from 30km away. Get owned noob.
Sit behind an island
i literally got stuck on in water. the land collision was up then i lost my ship due to ship ran aground in water.
I run aground more often than I should. The Flower class is a fat fuck that catches anything and everything.
Better than accidentally hitting a boulder on the side of an island and literally phasing entirely inside it. Happens a bit too often in the G-5. (You can't get out of the rock but you can shoot out of it.)
I'm tired of gently tapping a rock at 10km/h in ships and completely severing half of my crew's spinal cords from the impact...

My experience with the French so far...
What BR? Early French are a total nightmare, but get exponentially better later on.

I don't think youtube is ever gonna get done trimming this so here this is. Got a calliope test drive, gonked the tank + backup on some nerds and got some kills. Only had reserves left and this happened. Also, pardon the wack ass format and whatnot as well as the god awful compression. OBS is on it's period rn.
4.7 for tanks, 5.7 for planes. I bought the Narval and the auto-loader Sherman on the sales to begin the grind on French tech trees.
I'm not having trouble getting kills, getting on top of the scoreboard or anything, its just the Tank teams (both Germany + Russia and the Allies) I get put with are so incompetent.
Axis stomp Air battles most of the time because Allies don't climb and are filled with bombers that get shot down by Ta-152s and Do-335s.
I'm probably just really unlucky...
protip: the vt fuze shells have no tracer so you can shit all over people without them even knowing where they're being hit from
also don't get the rocket launchers cause they're bugged atm and slow the turret traverse for some reason
Has anyone else had a god awful time trying to use the reserve German boat?
Like it disintegrating from being looked at wrong to the gunner not being able to aim at all or not aiming where your cursor points.
Run whatever belt has the most HE. That little demon (LS3) will rape anything around it's BR if you just spray down the hull.
Can someone explain me why I didn't get survivor?

I think you need at least 5 player kills, you only got 4 so you get Bulletproof instead
I swear I've gotten survivor before without getting 5 kills

Frunze, 1940 ("Schastlivy" type) exchanges place in the research tree with the Pr. 159.
Just in time!
reeee, gotta unlock the shitty frunze before i can get the the crabby crabcrab now >:C
You know there's an awful lot of sub hunters in a naval game that has no submarines.
Also:
The MPK pr. 122A has no right being as good as it is. It's literally just a 76mm gun and a shitton of 12.7's glued onto a fishing boat and yet the gun is still able to rip every thing that rolls it's way a new asshole. Also holy dick it's literally the reason I learned how to manually run the AA gunners because the AI is useless on this boat.
with depth charges that server no purpose other than suicide devices? Yeah.
Uh on those tech tree changes the german S-100 (1944) just vanishes. Where did it go....?
