Yes? It's literally been part of the Franchise. For more than 10 years. That and they removed the 5 man squads just to make space for battle royale. The lack of kit switching makes me want of avoid buying the game now. I thought one of the main appeals of the franchise was the sandbox "play it your way" aspect where they give you more options. This is restricting my freedom, not improving it.
The destruction in this game is absolutely ass. Why can't a tank roll over a car? Really throws me out of the experience imo.
A dev confirmed that cars would be crushable, guess they haven't finished the destructability.
Upgraded from a 980ti to a 1080ti. Going from 90-100 fps to locked 144 in bf1 with 1080p UW is so damn nice.
lol i never see anyone even mentioning kit switching or even really use it, and yes i have been playing bf for the better part of over 13 years now
Lets be real, the only time people swapped kits was to switch off a medic and rez them.
You weren't playing the games to their fullest potential then. I've been using extensively it in every single BF game I've played.
no, i mean i have literally never ever seen someone else express anything about the kit switching, i know it exists and i have used it myself but i prefer to play with my own setups, literally the only times i would ever use kit switch would be to drop ammo and meds in hardcore
I'm actually looking forward to trying a lot of the mechanics that Levelcap dislikes because they slow down the game. Battlefield has been trending faster and faster with each iteration and I'm really happy that they're slowing the game down a bit. The gameplay he's talking about where you're thinking about where you get health or if you just push on because it's quicker is exactly the kind of gameplay that I miss. There are definitely real problems he mentions though, and the progression system looking like it's just pure upgrades to weapons/vehicles makes me very nervous. I really, really don't want weapon upgrades to just be pure upgrades. It will never feel good to be killed by somebody who is using the same gun/vehicle as you but their gun is better just because. It's also guaranteed to be an avenue of monetization so that EA can charge people to upgrade their guns/vehicles instantly, i.e. pay to have the best equipment.
The critical death mechanic is balls.
What is the critical death mechanic? I've seen it pop up before but I could still get revived so I wasn't sure what was happening. Also, a nice minor QoL thing is that your weapon choices aren't saved between factions, so if you want to make ultra-authentic style soldiers including weaponry, you can do that easily without having to swap things around each time you changed teams.
yeah, aside from the bugs I was having a lot of fun in the beta. I like the slower pace, I like the limited supplies, I like that you have to be more reliant on squad mates. But man those bugs. Twice I got stuck where I spawned/was revived but got put back to the spawn menu and could do nothing. I was technically alive but stuck in the menu and unable to control my character. Also at one point a tank rolled into E on Rotterdam and got stuck in the ceiling on the underground bit and started spazzing out uncontrollably. If the can polish up the game and ignore the youtubers giving feedback that just want the game to be "sprint to the next kill", this'll be a pretty good battlefield.

Also levelcap whining about not being able to be an attack plane aswell as a fighter and dragging that segment out for 5 minutes was hilarious. I rather not have a repeat of BF4 attack planes or BF1 trench fighters thank you.
how is this game the brightest and darkest game I've ever played? Everything in sunlight looks fullbright, but the darks are also crushed
I like it because it means no one will pick up my medic kit to revive me and leave me with whatever silly shit they were using. Also picking up other weapons as support and having infinite ammo with them.
The recent Battlefield's have always been like that, which always bugged me. It looks pretty but god damn playing in it is sometimes difficult.
Got a clip of that?
But that's easily fixed. You'd just have to make it so you can't switch kits with teammates that are still revivable. Also, can't you still switch weapons which mean you can still end up with something ridiculous? There's plenty of EASY fixes to still allow kit switching.
If you want to see how badly your CPU or GPU are bottlenecking you check this out: https://gamegpu.com/action-/-fps-/-tps/battlefield-v-open-beta-test-gpu-cpu (Set the language at the top right if it's in Russian). In my case my 4670k is killing my minimum FPS paired with a GTX 1070, as you can see: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225943/9af580a8-00ad-4ad0-957f-8acadc9fab80/photo_2018-09-06_07-29-37.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225943/57130f03-efd9-4f11-ad79-e842a49421b6/photo_2018-09-06_07-29-40.jpg
Ridiculous what? A support with a sniper? Oh no who will stop infinite ammo sniper.
Good for you. I don't see how kit switching is gonna stop you from still doing the same things you did before. Just because a feature isn't important to you doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.
The lack of ammo is great because it makes it makes the meme of supports never giving out ammo even more relevant
You keep saying that, but you're the only one that's expressing anyone sort of interest in the fact that its gone. Just because a feature is important to you doesnt mean its important to everyone. in the 12 years I've played battlefield games, the only time I ever picked up other peoples kits was to give myself health or ammo when I didnt have it, which its moot now with supply stations. Im willing to bet that for 98% of the rest of the playerbase, they feel the same way.
been playing a bit of the closed beta and i'm having a blast. i wasn't so sure on the game after watching the early marketing stuff but actually playing it has changed my mind. the gunplay feels really great. something about it manages to feel even better than it did in bf1. it's weighty and super satisfying. the fortification system is a cool gimmick, although i haven't explored it enough to really see its potential (building big spiky things to stop tanks seems really useful). the tanks feel strong but not indestructible, the slow turret speed is a good change. the slower paced gameplay and ability to revive squadmates makes for way better gameplay, and kinda prevents you from just throwing a ticket away at the enemy. the limited ammo and health packs you can use to heal yourself are lovely. movement feels good. many good things. the best change is the new spotting system though. i really disliked pressing Q instinctively every time i saw an enemy and then having and then having the entire team be able to see them forever all the time. it felt gross and made the gameplay revolve too much around staring at red dots on your minimap. it's a shame the game is getting a lot of hate in some places. looking past some questionable PR things the game is shaping up to be pretty great.
You're really gonna bring up that argument instead of actually explaining to me why kit switching actually affects you in any way? It's a feature that's literally been in EVERY SINGLE MAINLINE Battlefield game and I find it baffling that they removed such a nice tactical option. Fuck, even spotting hasn't been around as long as kit switching has. The worst part of it is that it's such an easy fix as well even with the current features such as supply stations and squad revives. Please give me a legitimate argument as to why kit switching even affects the way you play in any way.
I like the limited ammo, fight me. Creates more meaningful decisions regarding firefights, and in a sense enforces squad cohesion. It ain't BC2 but it's close.
Just the primary weapon.
I think it's on the cheap side that you can kill a medic/support/scout/assault and take their health/ammo/flares/dynamite. It's a little too effective imo. I could live with it, but not gonna miss it tbh.
I think the crux of the problem about kit switching is just that; It's true probably that you're not playing bf to 100% potential if you dont kit switch, but based on replies here and its subsequent removal, maybe its true that almost noone used it. The game should've advertised it's benefits more, potentially.
