Can anyone playing on the AU servers play this yet? Tried before with a friend and we kept on being booted
Servers are probably shitting by the amount of people signing in
its at the 2 minute mark in that video strawberry clock posted.
Kit switching was circumstantially useful for sure. I can think of a few cases I used it in previous games: getting stuck around tanks and grabbing an engineer's kit, running out of ammo and picking up a support kit to drop ammo, medic for heals or a quick revive of an ally. In most cases I would prefer to pick my own kit back up again if possible so I don't have to use someone else's weird loadout.
What the heck is this new matchmaking system? Why does it require joining matches as a squad? Why does it just randomly throw players together before disconnecting them anyway?
Even better why does it give exclusive power to join games to a randomly assigned squad leader in the group of random players, while hiding the option to leave a squad so well.
I am so confused
Aight, so now that the beta is open to everyone I've played a few matches. Still bummed that there's no kit switching but overall it's pretty fun.
The new gunplay system is really cool, I like that if you're careful you can snipe with pretty much any weapon. It really does feels more satisfying than BF1.
I haven't had too much of an issue regarding ammo, I'm careful to always scavenge from enemies and otherwise it's not too big of an issue to resupply from a depot.
TTK feels a lot faster and I'm fine with that overall but there also seems to be some wacky netcode issues where damage is delayed or it feels like all the enemy bullets hit at once.
In any case, it does make you play a bit more carefully. Also, the lack of spotting is really really awesome. It feels like I can actually conceal myself when fighting and that I can take the enemy by surprise. I've had a few times where I got a nice flank on the enemy and was able to dispatch 3-4 of them with a bit of skill and luck. Also wow, headshots seem really effective, I love that.
Haven't had much of a chance to play tanks but I really wish they replaced the 3rd person view with a periscope. Otherwise, I like what they did with the coaxial MG even if it's not realistic. Makes it so you can't spam it and it also feels satisfying to get that initial super fast burst out.
Also the 7.5 cm Pak 40 field gun in grand operations is ridiculous, I love it. It's a bit aggravating that your head sticks out though, there's literally nothing you can do about snipers. DICE, make your character duck even lower when using the gun, please.
Overall, good impressions. Also, I've tweaked my settings a bit and this game seems to somehow run better than BF1 which is really surprising. My framerate still isn't optimal but adding 20% blur seems to make everything a bit smoother. The raw infantry gunplay is a big upgrade overall compared to any previous game.
Crouch running is really awesome, as is going prone with your torso going in the proper direction.
Really, the only thing I'm REALLY afraid of is how microtransations are going to be handled.
Having actually played a game now I gotta say I am positively surprised at how good it is, the guns feel significantly better than BF1 and the new movement system is super snazzy when it doesnt bug out.
Some of the new features are pretty neat as well
It doesn't ruin the game for me but yeah female Wehrmacht soldier (and just female frontline soldiers in general) is never not gonna be jarring to see.
Also what the fuck, if you try to switch squads during a game it seems like a 50/50 chance to boot you to the main menu because the in-game squad overview shows squads that are still looking for a game???
What CPU do you have? I have the same thing with DX12 and I'm almost positive it's an underpowered CPU related issue.
Gotta say, the actual number of guns is extremely underwhelming (why the fug no mg34 for support) to the point where it really just doesn't feel like progressions worth it.
Go into BF1 and even in the beta the list was huge, I really hope they plan on getting the numbers bumped up before release.
Bf1 beta had 2 guns per class though.
Also a really cool detail, when you start a marksman/headshot killing streak in a single life as the female british scout, she will start counting under her breath after kills.
I think she starts counting after 2/3 marksman kills, and I got up to 8 before getting offed. Not sure if there is a limit.
The amount of guns in the beta is kinda low, but there's quite a few you can spot in the trailers that aren't in the beta, and I beleive the MG-34 was in the alpha.
A thing I worry about is high-cap mags, i didnt play enough but I wonder if it is possible to get the drum mag for the suomi, or potentially a ppsh if they ever get in teh game. And if yo ucan, will it still be 75-82 bullets?
Don't use DX12 under any circumstance!! It's been tested thoroughly in BF1 and likely won't be improved for BFV either. I think it might be dropped eventually actually.
None of the german soldiers are women though, only the british sniper. And, come on, how likely is it that players will actually use a female persona.
As for picking out enemies, the incredibly strong rimlighting makes it super easy to pick out enemies. And class distinction is very easy because all player models (until launch) are the same per class (per faction). You will get used to it quick tbh.
Nice. This can happen with any weapon as long as it's headshot kills btw, as far as I can tell.
MG34 was in the alpha, but the team is still not sure what to do about it. It was really unsatisfying to use it because it kinda required deploying. Hipfire was an option, but the spray was so massive that a pistol point blank does the job better. Alpha 2 improved the damage at range, which made it useful when deployed, but it just doesn't feel like it's worth the effort.
Also the UI has weird quirks that aren't good, like certain buttons not having keyboard shortcuts , or having to click off of certain screens for no reason.
I managed to play a good long match last night. I really like the new gunplay, the TTK is higher than BF1 but the weapons feel much more effective, like the accuracy doesn't go to shit beyond 5 metres.
I had a cool/hilariously OP bug happen though. I was playing support for a bit but when I died I switched to medic, as I was spawning I tried to switch is back to support since I noticed we had 2 medics on the squad already. I spawned as a medic but I had the ability to throw out ammo. When I hit 3 the game would throw out both a medpack and an ammo pack in one bundle. I got so many points from combined healing and resupplies.
According to this my minimum FPS should be in the high 40's but it regularly dips into the 30's.
I'm glad sweet spots are gone for bolt-action rifles, but suppression needs to have more than a visual effect on long range optics or some snipers are never going to budge from their perfect spot while everyone else has to tap fire with the same scopes (or drop everything to become yet another sniper) to scare them off for a second with chip damage.
What's the point of all these emplacement MGs Supports can build if they don't offer any protection anymore or have any way of discouraging snipers?
Eventually you would be able to duck in cover when using emplacements or vehicle mounted guns. I don't know how much it will help emplacements, but for vehicles it's a must.
I really wanted 2143 but I have to say, rolling through the streets of Rotterdam in a Tiger tank is really fuckin cool.
So are revives just totally broken right now? I can't do full medic revives nor squad revives and it doesn't seem like anyone else can either.
I had that happen last night where I just couldnt revive people and other people in the server were having the same issue
Game runs like absolute smashed ass for me, even on the lowest settings. can't figure out how to increase the performance with it, I'm just stuck in a 20-40 quagmire
What's your GPU and CPU?
Don't overlook RAM either, 8GB minimum for this game.
Before the beta opened I was getting games that came down to the last couple tickets.
After the beta opened...

Checking its exactly the same, sniper technically got 8 weapons in BF1 beta but 4 of those were just no-scope variants. I suppose I just remember their selection lists rather than what it actually contained
