I found it to be super good at dunking infantry.
Enemy squad enters building, building explode, no enemy squad.
The semi auto sniper is the StG of sniper rifles. If you aren’t using it, you are at a disadvantage.
Same with the upgraded Suomi/fg42.
My God watching levelcap is doing my head in. He's literally bitching about having to press E too much
Levelcap is the way I see the “used to casual” side of Battlefield. He brings up good points but what he wants is basically battlefield 3, 2: No planes edition.
I hope its not like the BF1 tank mission where you're in a town killing other tanks and that's it.
Also since this is the last war stories, wouldn't it mean it'll come out like 3 or 4 years later if we follow the chronological flow of ww2?
This will be the first battlefield I refuse to buy. I know some people enjoy it but there's just too many bad things about this one and I cannot support that. Huge shame.
I won't refuse to buy it on principle, in fact I want it to succeed, but it's hard to reason it doesn't need 4-6 months more to polish it and rework some of the worst aspects. Pushing the launch back a month is good, but I think it will be a miracle if that is enough time to turn it around.
This is actually the first BF I've bought since BF3. I played BF3 for about a month before I was bored of it, but I was bored of modern war in general. This has kept my interest so far, it definitely has it's problems and if I were in charge I'd have changed a many many things, but I aint. I just hope DICE realise the potential of what they have, update with new content regularly and don't just move onto BF6 after 18 months.
I went into the beta planning on not buying it at launch and maybe down the road but the beta kinda turned me on to it so I'm tentatively planning on picking it up at release. My biggest problem is performance and honestly I might just upgrade my CPU and maybe RAM and see if that helps. I really don't care that the last game had 9 maps and this one has 8 but I'm not terribly optimistic about the Tides of War live service plan.
am i remembering things wrong or did battlefield 1 have way better graphics?
I always thought bf graphics stagnated after 3 and they all just kinda look the same
The graphics look about the same, but the addition to Phsyx particles makes the game stand out. Seeing leaves tumble from whirlwinds, snow piling up on your tank and being shaken off when you fire a cannon is 👌. texture/lighting wise, its about the same. But the amount of open buildings and small graphical additions is nice.
I mean, BF in general is held at the upmost fidelity to the point that people bench it all the time with new hardware.
Talking about benching, the other night i noticed my CPU was reaching 80-88 C on V and scared the living shit out of me. Game really uses every single core it can eat, with all 8 logical cores reaching a constant 95-100% use.
Some textures seem to be worse in BF5 to my eye, but it has improved in other areas. Some comparisons in this video:

BF1 has a way more consistent atmosphere, BFV is just an oversaturated mess right now.

I really prefer BF1's artstyle, there's something off about BFV but I can't put my finger on it.
the picture on the left is overcast the picture on the right is in sunlight
BFV in general seems brighter, if that makes sense. Colors tend to pop more. I really like the look of Rotterdam in particular.
I'd say the largest improvements to BFV visuals-wise are the much higher quality particle effects and all the smooth animations of the soldiers which were the only things that looked pretty gamey in BF1. The increased amount of color in general is very welcome imo and is a nice fuck you to the dumb stereotype of WW2 being a time period where bright colors suddenly ceased to exist.
Texture-wise though, I think BF1 did a better job in some areas, particularly dirt textures.
Doesn't matter, I can compare Narvik to a sunny Lupkow Pass but my point still stands, in BFV the colours are all over the place and way oversaturated and bright.
you don't lose anything that matters if you just wait a week after launch
I'm really on the fence right now on whether or not I'll buy it. Before the beta I was thinking this game was going to be awful, but after the beta the core gameplay is actually very good. Like, holy crap this is maybe the closest the game has been (from a pure gameplay perspective) to the pre-Frostbite games in a very long time. There's a ton of shit surrounding the core gameplay though that makes me very nervous.
On one hand, I want to buy the game to signal to EA that hey, I want a game that's more like the old Battlefields. At the same time it's hard to trust them to do anything good, so I'm very hesitant to buy the game. I'm also seeing a lot of backlash to the gameplay on reddit (which I think is indicative of the majority), to the point where I'm half-expecting EA to go back on all the changes I think are interesting and turn the game back into BF1. That would be the ultimate turnoff to me.
Still, I am leaning more towards buying the game than not. However, it might be post-launch after some of the dust settles. I really want this game to do well because unlike BF1, I do think it's a step in the right direction. At least, from a gameplay perspective anyway, and I hate that I have to keep qualifying that.
Which subreddit? Because r/Battlefield is total shitfest, all the adults seem to have retreated to r/BattlefieldV, think I've seen some DICE guys post there too.
Yeah I'm at a loss towards a lot of the complaints too. I saw a lot of people complaining about how hard it was to get health or ammo but I can count the number of times I was struggling to find either on one hand, and thats out of 10 hours of beta and roughly the same amount of time during the alpha. I really like the pace the game has right now, it's an interesting blend of fast TTK, satisfying gameplay with a genuine focus on squad play and teamwork.
I'm just gonna leave this here as a reminder for one of the big reasons that Battlefield 1942 hooked me back in 2002.

I was pretty salty but once I adjusted its been a good time for me as well. I think some weapon balance tweaks will hit it out of the ballpark.
I think the one thing that infuriates me is recon quick-scoping the enfield and thinking they're hot shit. But otherwise this game heavily rewards smart play and squad work.
I mean, I get frustrated by how quickly I die sometimes (the STG-44 is still nuts) but I imagine it will just take some getting used to. I think when people get used to it and slow down a bit from the days of BF4/BF1 sprinting and running around with the AEK or automatico respectively they will appreciate the changes.
Quickscoping and noscoping is pretty crazy right now, yeah. Scout is my most played class and even though they lowered bullet velocity noticeably, it's still a really strong class. I know their thing is "make the bullets go where you aim" but maybe some small deviation for bolt action rifles is in order. Maybe even just apply it to scoped versions as sort of a balance to encourage ironsight/aperature use.
I feel bad for the devs. Everyone thinks they are trying to make some kind of political statement or pushing their progressive agenda on people. Having talked to two devs myself it's really just about making the game accessible. Politics (at least, race/gender politics) doesn't play a part in the games development at all.

Kinda sad that pubbies are starting to get more comfortable pushing. Makes 4 kill+ strikes a bit rare.
I once came face to face with a recon while I was a medic with the sten. I ADS and start shooting them in the chest and they had enough time to aim and headshot me before I could put enough rounds into them to kill them. That upset me a little.
