Battlefield Franchise Megathread v4 "Black Panthers in ze Panzers" Edition

Speaking of Apocalypse, I reinstalled BF1 and forgot that I totally missed an entire DLC. Passchendaele was cool, but Somme is probably the worst map I've ever played in a video game. It was over in 5 minutes and there were literally 3 people on my team with a positive KDR.
Found another nice V1 strike in my messy replay folder

Feat. super buggy Drilling animations and shadowplay's quality suddenly going into the shitter in this for some reason
Problem with Somme are the players, not the map itself. I never see smokes or tanks pushing up with the team, most of the time Somme is composed of camping snipers and camping tanks.
As a rule of thumb Battlefield always has bad/useless players - poorly designed maps only exaggerate this
That's why BC2 and the 32 limit actually worked...less useless players.
With the pacing and more tactical gameplay they're going for shouldn't they be bringing back commanders? Mind you BF4's commander felt tacked on, so if it would be like that they probably shouldn't bother.
With the advent of squad reinforcements, commanders would be redundant I feel.
Apocalypse felt unabashedly like they just wanted to put out something to say that they fulfilled their Premium promise.
The whole Premium release schedule was ridiculously inconsistent too. They Shall Not Pass arrived five months after BF1's release, In The Name of the Tsar arrived with a Premium bundle before all of the DLC was even out, Turning Tides came out over the space of a month and Apocalypse was less than a month later.
Between how Premium turned out for BF1 and the first look at EA's idea of a live service in SWBF2, I don't have any faith in either kind of content model.
I hate having to do the assignment thingies for BF1 DLC weapons, like some are doable but I look at others and I instantly know I'll never get that weapon because I'd have to grind for so long to get them. I also hate having to play with weapons I don't like to unlock other weapons I may or may not end up liking.
Biggest thing that always annoyed me was having to do shit in specific maps and game modes. Like you already know anyone late to the game won't be getting that stuff cause those maps/gamemodes are dead.
Yeah that's my experience as a late buyer of BF4. Also my favourite weapon the M249 SAW being locked behind an achievement you get for finishing the single player. Makes me real fucking salty, fuck you Dice/EA.
I did, three times for each weapon (luckily you can just repeat the last mission) but holy fuck was it stupid.
That dlc had so much wasted potential. I'm still pissed they pushed those air assault "maps".
Pretty certain they got rushed to meet the BF5 deadlines which annoys the shit out of me. You don't NEED to push a game every 2 years on the fuckin' dot.
I made a survey - feel free to fill it out if you want (or don't). I'm sending to a few of my groups to get some overall detailed feedback, so any thoughts would be appreciated! Also, please let me know if I made any mistakes.
Battlefield V Beta Feedback
Mate, I think you made a goof in the tanks section as it's missing a section for the Churchill while including a tank that's not in the beta (Panzer 38(t))
For once I actually like being squad lead. I also love how you can snatch squad lead away from inactive ones by just requesting orders and SL gets transferred to you if nothing is given.
Alot of my rocket strikes were misses and just tiny tickles but this one was by far my best one yet.

Wasn't really 10+ kills I typed in chat, I was just really excited and made a rough guess of the moment.
I once had a rocket get called on directly on top of me just because I was sniping into the D objective on Narvik. There was no else around me, I was all alone, I wasn't off on the edge of the map sniping from a hill, I was tucked in the flipped train carts between D and E. I even saw the SL that called the strike on me before I shot him in the head. But of course like in every battlefield game, shooting while in the center of the map will draw the attention of everyone and you get almost immediately gunned down after firing your first couple of shots. I get downed and I'm like welp I guess I'll just bleed out now since there's no one around to revive me and so you guys know how giving up forces your camera upwards looking into the sky? I just saw a rocket come straight at me, last thing I saw. I just chuckled when I came to the realization that a rocket was called on a single sniper and the dude that called it didn't get the kill.
Hm yeah I knew I would mess up on the tanks section. I googled it and I must have messed up. Thanks for filling it out!
Unpopular opinion, but I feel like DICE should take away or make adjustments to the asian and black characters.
I'm not aware of any black or asian soldiers, let alone an asian girl fighting on the western front, and in Rotterdam/Narvik in 1940.
Like if you wanna be authentic with the flow of WW2 with tides of war, don't do a half fuck attempt
Like black soldiers could be africans serving under the french colonies, and asians could be gurkhas/indian soldiers serving under the british empire.
Hell even BF1 was more authentic.
Or maybe have a 'hardcore' mode where everything else is authentic if you wanna please everyone.
Not an unpopular opinion. I think most people think it should be done tastefully, in the appropriate theatres and units. Seeing dozens of asian chicks running around on Narvik is jarring and out of place and I think Dice are just being lazy by not portraying it accurately.
While we're at it, lock weapons to factions along with vehicles.
Unpopular because I see the backlash mainly targeting at the cosmetics.
Hell, the characters look way too modern. The black guy and asian girl doesn't look like they fit 1940s.
The black guy totally reminds me of Irish from the Bf4 campaign:

Especially the beanie
Oh nice, even BF4's premium pass is free.
Yet they convenietly forgot about Hardline. I wouldnt mind playing that for the giggles of it.
we don't talk about that
Hotwire was fun as fuck
Welp, BF1 is rather fun so far, cept for that arctic looking map where my team got absolutely steamrolled.
I'd rather the game be more realistic too but wouldn't that arguably take less effort than creating several different player models of differing race and gender? I don't think it's lazy game design, I think they just want the game to be accessible.
Hardline was a good game.
The best part of hardline was the launch. Just because no one had that RPG perk so everyone was forced to chase eachother ahd light up the police cars/ muscle cars.
