Not anything as huge, this is happening pretty much because they can't add any Armies for the North. It was only the PAVN and the NLF, unlike the South, all support was material and fighting was done entirely by Vietnamese Communists. The ARVN had primary support from the United States, and considerable contributions from all over the South Pacific. Most of these aren't in game because they used US war surplus and similar uniforms, so from a gameplay perspective it's not as interesting as say, the Australians who were one of the smaller factions but with a fully unique set of firearms. The North though? They did all the fighting themselves, there's ancedotes of Chinese Soldiers taking part in border skirmishes, but no solid evidence I could find. China wanted to stay out and remain a looming threat, acting as the world's largest military base for the PAVN, and
Never heard about the armored car.
I'm gonna say most likely they will be. Tank combat wasn't big in Vietnam except for a few small scale skirmishes and some larger scale use after the US ended all support. And even though I personally loved them, tank maps were universally hated in Red Orchestra games, so I doubt they'll bother to make another map nobody will play.
In Red Orchestra 2, yeah. But in RO1 I think tank maps were fairly popular as the tank combat in RO1 was better than it was in RO2(defiantly if you played Darkest Hour).
Tank combat in RO2 felt unfinished. Just comparing how amazing infantry combat is with how janky tank combat is makes it clear that they could just do more with the infantry. There's no factor contributing to AT fighting's jankiness more than how bad serverside physics are. Infantry later got clienside hit prediction, which removed a lot of the frustration of not killing a guy because your 400 m/s projectile hasn't managed to cross the 10 m gap between you and your enemy before he killed you but tanks never got that luxury, leading to the high explosive bullets of the gun that has to shoot through solid steel taking half a second to cross a distance of 50 meters.
Dude having a coordinated driver and gunner in RO1 was the most fun thing. They just needlessly complicated it (As cool as they looked, we really didn't need those detailed interiors.) in RO2 and made it really multi-crew unfriendly.
couldn't even hop out of the damn thing
Good lord Resort is terrible Decided to sit on the beach beside the rocks, and a helicopter landed bring loads of US troops, one of them decided to come and hunker down with me, I don't think he realised I was alive for the best part of 2 minutes, at the same time I was shooting his friends https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/111005/72e6f5f5-1c62-4f7a-8ba6-f1bbc7d9ab2a/20180821190157_1.jpg
resort is amazing and terrible at the same time. it just depends on what the teams are like.
Everything feels so good when you shoot down a helicopter with the MG, and the global chat just explodes with all caps. "NOOB PLOT GET THE FUCK OFF PILOT"
(or when you are cobra pilot and fuck shit up constantly. that always makes me smile)
I've tried real hard to learn the helicopter controls but I can't just get decent let alone get good. I feel like a joystick or even controller would help immensely, but I don't have those. And I know there are expert pilots that use keyboard just fine.
fly in the bootcamp. it works trust me. lower collective when having to do harsh stops and turns. in general keep an eye on alt and your vertical velocity.
Yeah I do, I have probably 10 hours and dozens of landings in it, but I can't think of one landing I was satisfied with. Ontop of that when I did fly online I didn't expect the control delay and ended up taking 6 men hostage until we crash landed outside the map. I did enjoy flying the Loach but I can't shoot for shit with it and spotting gets you no points, so the only XP I had the entire match was for a random minigun kill when I strafed some trees and a couple 1911 kills I got after I survived a shoot-down and decided to cap.
Scouting with the loach does give you a ton of points but you need to make sure you're actively flying over hot areas in order to actually scout anything efficiently. A lot of new people seem to think that flying around the outskirts of the map is enough but you need to actually have enemies underneath your chopper for it to scout.
I might've just had a bug then, because I was skimming the trees of Song Be, paying special attention to contested points.
I'm so damn tired of playing resort and hue city over and over on servers with map vote
https://store.steampowered.com/developer/Tripwire/ Tripwire sale going on right now. Includes all DLC's. If you want RS2:V cosmetics for $4 a pack, now's the time.
Fngs, fngs everywhere
i hope FNGs are looking at the bootcamp and get a feeling for how the game plays.
Past couple of days I've been having lag spikes every 10 seconds or do. Ping will jump to 400 and people will run into walls then teleport around the map. I remember having this in RO2. Not happening with any other game whatsoever. Really frigging odd and its making it unplayable.
How's the community in general? I've joined a few servers and it seems okay, but I got one that had several crybabies with names like "SturmWulf88" unironically ranting about "jewish bolshevism" whenever someone made jokes about Ho Chi Minh and one of them went into a mic-inhaling temper tantrum because his team lost. How common is this?
its a great community, but the only trouble is there is a shit ton of people that play the game for the memes and a shit ton that get salty about Political correctness and shit, often the meme'y players spike around free weekends/sales due to a huge influx of new players.
I played a match last night on Hue City, we were defending the Imperial Palace after getting stomped for most of the match, and a guy on our team starts playing Hanoi Hannah on all chat. We ended up winning the round, it was awesome. Just imagine hearing this while in the middle of an insane battle: https://youtu.be/w3VeKnW9cNo
yeah those are the best kind of games, and even resort is fun when your hueys are blasting 60s garage rock on the speakers hahaha
https://i.imgur.com/J9Q3kDt.png What the hell just happened? I'm on Resort and all the sudden I just collapse without warning, and the killfeed just shows me this skull?
unlucky enough to get a stray bullet from a firefight 1.3km away
The agent orange cancer got you. I doubt it's a stray bullet more like bazooka was the last person to damage you and then the game crapped out and made you die for no apparent reason.
I enjoy a bit of RP'ing in RS2, like when it's kept on a banter tounge in cheek level cause it encourages people to use microphones in general. Then there are the people who scream racial slurs into their microphones or blast music or whatever, but that doesn't happen as much.
Test Server party at 8pm Wednesday!
