I just love recording people when they play

Am I the only one who doesn't get all of the supremacy hate? I personally like the more wide open, might I even say more tactical gameplay. I think it's just a matter of people being so used to territories that they simply aren't accustomed to supremacy's playstyle, and in turn immediately hate it.
I mean sure, you do get teams where people just run around like headless chickens, but I think the core mechanics of the mode are great! I just like that the devs opted to try something a little different from "attack point A, and maybe a point B, and then you can go to the next point(s)." Of course, I'm also a sucker for bigger maps, and less restricted combat zones. If anything, I think the more conservative use of the combat zone suits the Vietnam setting, what with the whole asymmetrical/guerrilla warfare thing going on; there's no reason a VC shouldn't be able to pop off a few GIs in the back as they run towards the next objective.
Supremacy pretty much is territories but unfocused. I'm not a fan of how CPs have to be connected to the home base to count and have no passive protection whatsoever because it'll just be like "oh you're fighting over this objective, jokes on you, two motherfuckers crawled a circle around it and capped home base, have fun running 80 kilometers, asshole". It feels more like an excuse to have people stand around guarding each point.
I wish they would make more territories maps that are a back-and-forth and not rigid attack/defend and I think that's what they were going for with supremacy but I absolutely hate having to think about a point that's a 10 minute run away while I'm already sitting on another.
What do you guys think of the Campaign so far?
I only played one but it was fun and balanced, we were underdogs for awhile but despite some horrible battles we surged to the top and finally won.
There are some issues with the North lacking tools for attack though.
I like it so far, I hope they improve on it and add even more features and depth to it.
Most of the games I've played as the north I've lost though while the opposite is true for the south, so maybe there are some balance issues?
Really hard to tell if its properly balanced because of the influx of players from the sale.
What I can say is I'd have preferred it if they just did a 1:1 copy pasta of rs1 campaign.
The RS1 campaign was a slightly prettier map vote screen though.
Better than the snowball fest the abilities make it into.
The campaign needs work, it's a lot more interesting than the previous games campaign mode. The RS1/RO2 campaign may aswell not exist because of how pointless they were.
personally not enjoying the campaign tbh, most sessions I have had are pretty much this for 3 hours, non stop wins/loses with one team highly stacked against the other
don't get me wrong, i like the campaign and loved RO2's, and theres always been slight unbalance, but this has really been bad this weekend, probably due to new players? maybe, but on vet servers even the admins are moaning about the campaigns balance.

Idk what's so unbalanced for you guys, i think is more about the teams/players being good and knowing what to do than about which faction has better abilities. I played campaign 5 times, same team each, we played 3 times as North and 2 times as South and we won quite easily mostly because of the new players were on the other team and they seemed to lack any knowledge of the game and the ones we had knew a little bit of how to play the game.
But also there is the fact that were choosing specific areas to gain tons of CP and VP and that the other team would just start to throwing the rounds after loosing like half of the map
So far the only campaigns I've managed to win were the ones I joined as they ended.
It usually goes like this for me; I look for a server - it's full, so I have to wait some 15 or 20 minutes before I finally get to join it. I feel like playing the southern forces, pick the team and... "YOU HAVE WON THE WAR!". Okay, cool, I guess. I wait for the next round to start. It starts and I finally get to play the game, however most of the time I get kicked within the next 25 minutes to make room for a server member. When I join back I get thrown into the NLF and I just sit there as we lose one round after another. Sometimes, quite unexpectedly, there is a round which we actually win, but the next round we lose again. And this goes on and on until we finally lose the war altogether.
I have tried three different servers and I have had the same experience on each one of them. Wait for a long time. Connect. Play for a short amount of time before getting kicked to make room for a member. Reconnect. NLF. Lose every match. Lose the war.
And it's not even that the northern factions are bad, but everyone wants to play as the south and since there is no autobalance in the campaigns, the southern team tends to have at least 5 more people than the north. The last campaign I've played, we had 22 people against their 36.
When it comes to maps - I feel like most people go for the maps that have already been played to hell and back - especially Cu Chi and Hue City and the only factions that ever get picked are mostly the ones that are used by default in the territories mode. I have seen people go with the ARVN a handful of times, but that was usually it.
I am really trying to enjoy the campaign mode, but it is very difficult based on my experience.
In terms of maps for me was different: they went for the most points then the least ones, so Cu Chi and Hue were like 5-6 round only
I haven't played this game in over a year but I was feeling a bit nostalgic for it so I hopped on and for the first 3 games I was terribly rusty at it. I didn't get a single kill. Then I was running through the jungle and saw a silhouette standing on a hill and I let em' have it and in that moment I felt like this dude.

Why do people not seem to like playing machine gunner

typically in a scenario like that i don't even bother running into the room, i just spray the wall and let the penetration take care of things.
Is there any difference between the recoil/accuracy between the 3 aks (The Chinese, Russian, and collapsible one)? A part of me feels like the Chinese one is slightly more controllable than the others but another part of me feels like that is BS. Also, of course when I say the collapsible one, I mean when it is extended.
I'd love to know this aswell, I only use the one with the folding stock because I don't get much use out of a bayonett and it's especially nice with the recent ADS movement speed buff they gave weapons with collapsed stocks.
iirc AKM has slightly worse MOA but better recoil stats.
No idea if it's been changed since then. As for Type 56 I think it's the same gun but with either a bayonet or a folded stock
Nitronik nailed it more or less, plus the Type 56 and Type 56-I have no difference.
i thought the chinese one has a slightly higher ROF
People who don't like MG are usually complaining about the m60. Which if you aren't familiar with
People who don't like MG are usually complaining about the m60 which can be awkward to use. The recoil bounces all over and the zeroing is pretty high, but if you're familiar with it you can wreck house.
Whenever I play MG I usually just suppress anyway, don't bother trying to kill. Suppression seems stronger since the campaign update so I still feel useful lol
You're right, I missed that. 650RPM vs the AKM's 600RPM
Updated Plan Of Attack - Post Hotfix 1.1.1
Hotfix 1.1.2 is releasing next week.
Changes:
By default the settings to balance teams will be on
The max difference will be set to 2
If the difference becomes larger than 2, the campaign will pause and ask players to help balance out the teams (for an XP bonus). If no players opt for this, the game will force a balance to happen (excluding commanders from the previous round).
Teams will also no longer get an XP bonus for winning the campaign, removing the incentive to swap teams to get the winning XP bonus, further unbalancing the campaign.
Joining the fight in the hands of the NLF during the early war will be the BAR and 1919A6, and joining the campaign and the game with Hotfix 1.1.2 will be the addition of 30 round M16’s and XM-177’s for the ARVN during the late war period!
oh FUCK yes 30rnd m16s
It's interesting to see them making late war changes when the latest I've seen a campaign go is like '72 or '73.
i've had campaigns constantly get to year 75. granted this is on bloodbath servers
Bloodbath servers are probably the best tbh. Too I love the novelty of the mega servers but the garbage connection is kinda deal breaking
