They've been pretty kind to me, taking time out of their schedules to host the Green Army Men mod. I don't mind playing a round or two there when I get a chance
It's amazing how much pull a good commander and good communication have in winning the campaign, along with overall enjoyment of the game. Had two campaigns that were almost perfect contrasts of each other. One with a good commander who was fun and communicated with his SL's to take objectives, and another game where the Commander spot was a revolving door, multiple kick votes of Commanders/SL's, people bitching on voice, etc.
I play exclusively on Bloodbath and I think I've only seen maybe 2 campaigns go to 75.
I've always wanted to be that guy but I'm afraid I'll muck it up somehow, I have a crappy voice (i think it sounds like gravelly neckbeard) and I studder or slur words sometimes even though I'm not drunk. I also wanted to be that guy that lands a helicopter safely under fire, but I couldn't even get myself to pull it off in training consistently let alone on the servers.
I used to play Commander a lot back in BF2 where you could call in artillery strikes without relying on your squads. Though the players on RS2 seem a lot more unforgiving on new commanders/SL's and it seems a lot more cutthroat so I haven't tried it yet. I'm fine with being a SL if the commander isn't a jerk, though.
I just play Radiobitch and follow the commander around like I have Stockholm syndrome.
It's a great way to farm points tbh, and it's a lot of fun if you have a funny commander.
It can also be genuinely fun and exciting if you have a commander who plays his role right behind the frontlines instead of way back at base. Turns you into kind of a bodyguard for him, having to keep eyes open for sneaky VC's and pushes going through the line.
I'd love squad based radiomen, but they'd have to redesign the system around it too. For example make it so your arty markers didn't instantly show up for the commander but you'd have to "radio them in".
I mean it sounds cool, but I'm 100% sure people will just beat the system by snapping up Radioman as Squad Leader.
Shake and Bake 2XP Weekend! - And Work In Progress Changelog for Hotfix 1.1.2
We have given our Mappers the ability to determine which teams may be allowed to play on Attack or Defense in a round of campaign on their maps, which is set through a simple flag in the map’s config (bNeverReverseTeams). This is in response to certain maps being placed into campaign rotations which were unwinnable as certain teams, due to that certain team being spawned in its entirety on an island in the middle of the sea. I wonder what map that was. Probably a real nice spot to take a vacation. 🏢🏯🏖🚁🏝
to be fair though, wasnt this map taken out of the campaign anyway? some servers just chose to re add it in through custom map list or something?
That would be really cool since it would basically force teamwork if you wanted to win. At the same time it would multiply issues with bad command/teammates and make the situation I mentioned above worse. Though I'd be in favor of trying it out. I think it would cool to have Medics, too. But they'd have to be in a way where it takes a bit of time to revive the guy. Basically as an alternative to having to respawn somewhere far away when your SL keeps dying or you don't have a tunnel. They could also resupply teammates with bandages or give people morphine shots that make them take damage better or something. I just want a game with a medic spot where the revive animation is a bit more realistic than stabbing a dead guy with a syringe or hitting them with defibs. The game already knows where you were shot so that could play into it. If you died by a leg wound the medic works on your leg, etc. Obviously some wounds would not be survivable. Fire, explosions, headshots, etc.
asdfghjkl
One time I decapitated a guy with a shotgun and he fell off a building two story building and hit the ground, and in the distance I hear Gettin a heart for this one so don't tell me nothing is survivable!
Meanwhile I get domed by a dude with a double barrel from 50 yards away.
don't *ever* disrespect the double barrel
Getting the Machine Gun class with chainbelt on Skirmish Compound. Whenever VC starts capping B I just start blasting through the walls and ceiling so satisfying to hear the thuds of hittimg flesh. Sadly not many people realise how many walls you can shoot through.
Nothing like losing 9 rounds in a row, all of them "Crushing Defeats", and still somehow remaining in the game. Why does Campaign even let that happen? It's like being tied to a chair and repeatedly stabbed with a box cutter, it doesn't kill you, it just goes on and on and on.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-QxuyxJe48 We all got killed by a single RPG. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/78659/68557d00-a362-49cd-b49a-362011a3a0e3/20181014121818_1.jpg Also, this still happens to me way too often when trying to play the campaign.
What server is it? I've never seen that notification but I mostly play on 501st or 40-1.
This particular time, I believe it was the rs2.fi campaign server. But I am pretty sure that I've been kicked out of the 40-1 servers a bunch of times too. I was complaining about it on the last page. I couldn't ever finish a campaign as the south, because I kept getting kicked for server members. Since then, I think I fully finished the campaign - playing as South Vietnam - maybe twice.
The game needs more of top and less of bottom
sometimes i run into a slew of bugs that make me want to uninstall the game. I'm talkin 5 bugs in a row where your character doesn't react to inputs, the RPG visually is ready, but doesn't fire, you dolphin diving into prone only to face the enemy and your dumbass character refuses to look down the irons. I just ran into that exact situation. in the moment, it makes me NEVER want to play the game again out of frustration.
Yeah, sometimes the wrong thing happens because of bad luck and it just ruins your mood. One night I was pissed because I was having a bad luck streak on the losing team of a campaign. I killed a guy and took his RPD, then advanced to the objective to retake it, it seemed empty and I only had 1-2 allies on point but not in view. Suddenly a dozen PAVN spawn infront of me on the other side of a waist stone wall, it's an ambush deployment in the open and I have a fully loaded machine gun, this is going to be incredible! That day I learned that Ambush Deploy gives you several seconds of spawn protection, and despite shooting over half a dozen guys, I received zero kills and was shot by one of the invincible players. I was pissed.
IMO ambush deploy invulnerability should expire the second you try to return fire.
It does, but that means jack-shit since the guy who was a threat to you is now dead after you shot
