triple and rotation battles run fine with no outlines, at least as far as i remember they do
But which demographic is the "OG 151 only" targeting? Not kids, because their parents are getting them Pokemon: Current Version so they're going to be loading up their Switch wondering where their Incineroar is. Not long time fans of the series, who are scratching their heads in confusion as to why there's no Elekid or Electivire (but Alolan forms are in because why not). Is it those people who maybe played Pokemon Blue, got past the first two gyms in Pokemon Gold, and only remember and care about the original 151? Because they're not exactly buying new Pokemon games in droves nor playing much Nintendo consoles.
God I'm still salty about that attitude that's been around hardcore since Gen 6. Can't wait for the Gen 4 remakes to be the best game we've had since ORAS.
Well, Let's Go is definitely aimed at the new demographic that was won with Pokemon Go. Trying to get them on the Switch with simple mechanics, not too many Pokemon but rather the ones they know from Go.
Except Pokemon Go is already releasing Gen 4 Pokemon, and people who got Pokemon Go when it was Kanto-only then dropped it did so because it was A FREE SMARTPHONE GAME, not a 40-60 dollar/euro game for a 250+ dollar/euro console. Smartphones are pretty much a need nowadays, while gaming consoles never were.
Also, Meltan is not the first time a 'mon debuts in a spinoff: Munchlax was already in games 2 years before Diamond and Pearl (Pokemon Dash, as crappy as it was), and both it and Bonsly were playable in XD (but not "ownable").
I'm vexed because I worry for the 2019 game.
All these recent talks had me believing that they are using LGPE as a new baseline for the core games despite them previously mentioned that it is a side-game.
The other thing that's worth mentioning now that Gen 4 is trickling out is that with every generation released for the game, there's a mass exodus of people that stop playing because the Pokemon that are added feel alien to them.
Honestly I could see LGPE getting "mission pack" style post release DLC that each include a new generation of Pokémon.
Each one adds a new thing to do in the postgame, a short bit of spinoff story content, and more Pokémon to catch while you're doing them. Eventually they add gen 7 and the accompanying content is a preview of gen 8.
DLC to extend post-game content? Unheard of in a Pokemon game. They much rather repackage the same game and sell at full price.
While you are correct, if they really are going to treat it like GO (like they seem to imply), then that's far more likely
That's so optimistic. I like.
Game Freak never seems to understand what people want.
I mean, let's be real, the new stuff would still be IN KANTO, and would probably be pretty short. Barely any time or effort needed on their part.
The added Pokémon would be the main focus.
Pokemon Go has already jumped to include Pokemon beyond Gen 1, though. Plus, it had it's (albeit huge) surge before, and interest definitely petered out, imo. The demographic I mentioned that only played Blue and half of Gold definitely was interested in Pokemon Go after a while, but you'd be silly to think that they've garnered a loyal fanbase out of them, willing to buy a new game.

It surged again in September. I'd say Meltan and adding friends is helping it along.
Sudden spikes don't really mean anything long term. A game making internet headlines is almost always going to get an influx of people, even if it's for negative reasons.
It's whether or not they keep more people from that than they're losing from stagnation, that's what's important. You'll want to check on how they're doing a few months after this or LGPE's release to get the real picture.

The Pokemon Center is down right now because they're redoing the site again, but there's a start to a plush series of every single Pokemon from the Kanto region. They only have 30 so far but they're also weighed so they stand.
I hope they wind up doing literally every Pokémon after enough time, gen by gen
Some stuff I love (Zangoose, Weavile, Porygon Z, Scolipede, etc) has either virtually no merch, or none whatsoever, and that's tragic
Oh, I see. I get it now.

When you meant "Master Trainers" you meant "hacking fuck"
Wow, this is dumber than I expected.
I cannot possibly see how anyone can have fun with this...
It'll just be a damage rush based on how high levelled you are, there's no strategy here since you have to use the same pokemon.
The endgame is going to be grinding every pokemon to level 75 (minimum).
So the idea of a trainer dedicated to just one pokemon and that apparently being difficult is problem enough alone, but using the same pokemon against each other? What were they thinking with that one? Aside from the 'master trainers' having 'unexpected moves' theres not much wriggle room to make each battle interesting, and you're going to have to do 151 of them.
You'll just teach type effective moves to the pokemon where they're applicable, and with others you'll just grind away to be a higher level. This honestly seems like really terrible post game content that would be like, a neat side gimmick in a mainline game, but they're really advertising it as a big feature here. If this is the epitome of post game content, and most of the main game is going to be a plot we've played two times already, then I'm seriously confused to where all the content actually is in this game.
um.... this sounds like a complete chore for completionists because you need to grind unevolved pokemon...?
And without held items and abilities this is going to end up like slamming 2 figurines together until one breaks.
Okay shit the end of that master trainer video actually got a chuckle out of me
I don't think so. I enjoyed X/Y for its amazing regional Pokedex, but for most other aspects, gen VII eclipsed it imo.
However, you are free to play it just to explore Kalos. Nice place, I will say.
actually it'll be more than just grinding levels, you'll also have to grind for a good speed IV and hope they also don't have hacked stats
oh god you can't even breed for stats and eggs moves
I should mention this as well.
Pokémon
Some Master Trainers will have a simple request for you, but most of them will want to battle! The only catch is that they will only battle against the species of Pokémon they love. You'll need to train up each of your Pokémon to take on these tough challengers. Because these Master Trainer battles are true tests of you and your Pokémon's strength, neither you nor the Master Trainer will be able to use items during the match.
Ditto is probably one of them where you do a fetch quest or something, but I suspect there's more.
I still want a Johto postgame in a Kanto game. FRLG were a missed opportunity, and these are proof of how Game Freak lives in its own reality.
Hello all, I'm very much new to pokemon in the sense that I have been very out of touch of it for years and now I can't remember anything about it. The soon to be released Pokemon games that's going to come out next month caught my interest and was wondering if this is something I should get to hop back into? Last pokemon game I've played was Gold, only thing I remember from playing Gold was farming the I think Elite Four for money because my ingame Mom no longer had any money left to give me. But at the moment I'm hearing mix things about the coming Pokemon game and was wondering if the changes or new things in Pokemon Lets go would be something I should worry about when I have near to no recollection of my past experiences with the previous games. Would Pokemon Lets Go Casual be a good gateway game back into the series?
Although it is more focused on the casual sides of things, the game is missing important elements in the Pokemon series, like breeding and missing a fuckload of Pokemon. It really depends what you want in a Pokemon game, because this Pokemon hardly even rewards you for catching them all. Honestly if I were you I'd start with Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
