This is such a neat addition. I always think that starters should be everyone's ultimate companion, even beyond post-game. Now a way to tweak their natures outside of resets..

I like the concept of friendship boost, in addition to PokeAmie benefits, is going to make challanging playthroughs a lot more emotional and exciting.

The only reasons I can think of right now is hidden power, anti-swagger, and perhaps wanting to go slow.
Are there notable others? Tbh it is still better than just 3 p IV.
foul play/confusion and hp are the main ones, tr is pretty obvious
more niche stuff is min defenses for activating sash as often as possible, statakata has to run +atk,-def nature and ~14 def iv to get atk bb, you can run imperfect hp for a lo/toxic number without needing investment
And may I ask for the last time you used Foul Play against an special attacker?
While it is true that optimization involves having a 0 Attack IV in an special attacker, functionally it is irrelevant in competitive. And competitive is irrelevant for these 2 games anyway, next year VGC will still be USUM.
And, getting a starter with perfect IVs would be good for in-game, and allow breeding of a starter with imperfect IVs for the niche cases. Because you won't be setting Trick Room up for Torterra in-game, but you'll probably use special attacks at some point.
I'd also argue Hidden Power should be tied to personality value rather than IVs, and a NPC should allow you to change it. And FFS give us HP Fairy.
