It is a mainline game FFS.
It’s as much of a mainline game as previous remakes like Firered/Leafgrean were.
So in co-op the second player get's teleported automatically? You could just connect the second controller and make the whole game a easy 2v1 playthrough.
Remakes are mainline games. The main series are the RPGs.
Colosseum and XD weren't part of it, so I was expecting these to not be either, but alas, they are said to be so.
So RPG developed by GameFreak it is.
How any of you thinking that remakes aren't mainline games is beyond me when forefront features and Pokemon are in them.
However I can and will consider LGPE to be spinoffs solely because it is extremely dumbed down and half the feature locked off. A glimpse of gen 8 tech.

I agree with you, however, GameFreak, TPCi and Masuda don't.
I honest-to-god swear I remember them going on damage control after LGE/P was revealed, specifying "haha no no this is just a spin-off haha XD Gale of Darkness haha Gen 8 is still coming haha", only to completely go back on that a few months later and say in black and white "no man these are MAIN SERIES games".

Venusaur as a whole, Charizard gets downright nukey when Mega evolving (although 2 megas were kinda overboard; one should have gone to Typhlosion), Blastoise is a nice spinner in the lower tiers and now has a movepool and attacking stats, but, all in all, it is quite Meganiumesque stat--wise.

The Let’s Go games have a much more kid-friendly look to them and the music adheres more to the original compositions, as Game Freak anticipated that parents or other people might find the game uncomfortable if there was too much violence or noise from the TV.
Regarding saves, Masuda admits that because of how the Nintendo Switch is set up, the Let’s Go games save on the console, rather than on the game card, meaning that you can no longer have your save together with your game card at all times. That said, the benefit is that you can have multiple saves for the Let’s Go games just by using a different user account.
So far i'm having fun with the game. Taken for what it is, it's a pretty charming adaptation of the original game, and i'm glad that another generation of kids can experience this classic.
FRLG were 14 years ago, true, but Kanto was also visited in GSC and its remakes, and the original games AND GSC were released for the 3DS.
Kanto is also not that good of a map, it is basically a cluster of cities in the middle, and 2 handles.
To be honest a lot of the reasoning is just, if he considered core players into the equation. The constant GO and children pampering is tiring.
Please don't remove anything in the next title.
Children played the games just fine; yesterday I went to a Giratina raid in GO, and there was a 7 year old kid talking about IVs, and his father was proudly saying how the kid had been playing with the 3DS games since he was 3 or 4.
The games are very acessible, and Masuda is quite paranoid.
