I've gotten back into Showdown the past few months, teambuilding is fun and fast, it really scratches that competitive itch and the games are incredibly short compared to other comp games.
You also don't have to take it very seriously or play with the meta if you don't want to
Of course not. There's an entire subculture dedicated to it.

I lost all my hoge related images along with DESTROY BARRY but damn it's a fun ride.
The Showderp threads are a classic. My first champ attempt was so bad one of the guys watching made a set named after me on Dogars, and some of the teams I got were good enough to keep using (with some tweaks) while laddering.
I got matched up against a champ once and thankfully didn't embarrass myself too much because the dude forfeited.

That leaves Tapu Fini, which I imagine will be distributed soon enough to get them out of the way.

Twitch Plays Pokemon is 5 years old today, by the way.
A couple are hard to make out but some more Detective Pikachu designs

Slaking, Magikarp, Charmander and Lickitung are very close to their game designs. Hard to make out Arcanine.
Overall they look good since they respect the Pokemon's structure and silhouette, I think they just gone a little overboard with textures and wrinkles, which aren't very visible in those cards.

Also to those that have forgotten Mewtwo Strikes Back Evo looks to be entirely CG.

This may or may not be buried today if there's Pokemon info at the direct
I don't know why but I like the look of the Detective Pikachu plush

Someone should take it apart and make it spout Danny DeVito phrases.
Supposedly someone managed to get ahold of a copy of prototype data for Red and Green

I really want to see Gorochu
I would like a compete dump but half complete back sprites are about all we're going to get unless someone else comes forward.

I'm a game collector and I would be more than glad to dump a game for archival purposes, screw the 'value'. That's really selfish of them
For people who might remember, "Dating a Team Magma Grunt" author seems to be back from the military and is making new chapters
So uh, more New York Toy Fair images...

So the backsprite of gorochu reminds me of this
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/174983/f3400cc1-470c-4547-99bd-6a1e1eca0ec0/image.png
It's got the same whiskers and one horn, and the cloud thing coming from its head resembles the tail thing on Gorochu
okay an hour of photoshop later and here is how i interpret Gorochu

I did this on top of the carddass Raichu card art
It's an important piece of gaming history. It's like if a famous artist had a painting that was bought so the public could never see it. It's an insult to the fans for the sake of greed.
Data hoarding is actually a thing that happen often. Most of the time is either because the person hoarding it love attention or feel superior doing it.
Case in point facepunch had a data hoarder who had half life 2 beta files (As far as I remember) who kept promising that one day he would release it. Then admitted on his own discord server that he would never do it and loved the attention, walling himself arguments such as "you are all entitled fucks" ect.
In fact because of it the half-life cut content threads had a thing going on that "drama" posts were a week ban because of it.
data hoarding and being a bitch are different things
not wanting to reduce the value of something you cant legally sell anyway is definitely on the bitch side of the equation
I know it's a weird thing to like, but did anyone else like back in gen 4 when we had like the golden age of spinoff connectivity to the main series? Gen 3 had that too, to a lesser degree, but it basically completely stopped after gen 4. My personal theory was that rising game development costs made making spinoffs in general less affordable. Either way, it felt like there were more opportunities to get event Pokemon, rather than just from download events, and it encouraged checking out spinoffs like Ranger.
Gen V had Dream Radar and Dream World. But it definitely did stop after V, and I assume it's for cost reasons as well. I don't think we'll get another Stadium/Colosseum/XD/PBR again cause the main
games are already 3D, eliminating the purpose they used to have when the series was 2D.
I'd say TPCi getting paranoid and all that has something to do.
