4 UBs, 3 Necrozma formes, and Zeraora.
Should I finish Moon (I think I’m only on the 3rd gym/Kahuna whatever) or just get one of the Ultras? Are the stories similar?
IMO, while the Ultra versions are pretty similar, they fix pacing issues the game had, and tweak the story a bit where it feels more fleshed out. Also there's more postgame stuff, and I think more battles overall during the main story.
The only thing really changes is the climax with the box legendary, the final boss challenge, and the postgame. Up until Poni the story follows essentially the same path. Also getting the Ultra Beasts in Ultra Sun/Moon is a hell of a lot more interesting than it is in Sun/Moon.
Overall, just forget about regular Moon and get Ultra Moon (or Ultra Sun). You get a lot more with USUM, and you will get to fight Team Rainbow Rocket in the post game (at this point, everyone knows about them). Also started playing Blaze Black 2, can't wait to see all the changes. I kinda wish I picked Snivy though, I forgot that the starters start with their hidden abilities.
maybe it's controversial but i thought ultra sun and moon's story was worse than the originals (felt like it lacked the clarity of the originals) and that some of the additions actually made the game less enjoyable (being forced to mantine surf, the rotom dex, the increase in cutscenes...)
I will be skipping my second "main/big/core" Pokemon game by the time LGPE arrives. I don't belong in this fandom anymore
Sun and Moon has a concise focus for what drove the plot in Lillie and it came out pretty good. Your adventure begins with her and the game's climax ends with her showing all the character she's built throughout her adventure. Ultra SM starts the same way but just sort of gets distracted near the climax and all the scenes that made Lillie's arc satisfying like Exeggutor Island and Ultra Space were removed or resolved offscreen, so Lillie's existence just seems like a product of them not being able to brainstorm a more interesting driving B plot for the first 2/3 of the game.
I finally stepped back into the Pokemon game realm and holy shit what a shock. The last games I played were Soul Silver and Platinum. I bought a used N3DS XL, modded it, tried some games then instantly went out and bought a brand new N3DS XL and nearly every Pokemon game I missed in the past couple years. I'm a ways into UM (calm down on the cut scenes guys) but I stopped and I'm working through White with plans to go through Black 2 next. I still have OR and Y to start...
Not to mention all the mega stones are in the game unlike in regular S/M.
if you were wondering what the massive news from pokenchi was https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1038563426585468928 yup, they haven't gotten rid of this, thats the news
On the contary, I prefer Lusamine actually growing out of being a bitch rather than the "it was just a neurotoxin" copout that S/M did. Lillie shouldn't have been changed from S/M; she was fine as-is.
Also they showed HMs are still gone. Pikachu and Eevee can use techniques like "Diagonal Cut" and "Water Walk" to go through hazards and such. Also, Eevee used a new Fire attack called "Flare Burn" and Pikachu used "Splash Surf".
I was worried that HMs being gone was gonna be exclusive to SM given Gamefreak's tendency to remove popular features every new game, but now that they've been ditched in a remake it looks like they really are gone for good. Good fucking riddance.
I like HMs being gone but I don't like being given random Pokemon that I have no relation to popping up (with awkward looking SAFETY GEAR(Machamp wearing gloves still looks ridic)) instead of surfing on my own Pokemon.
Nothing like having a game with a pretty great character customization system only to look like a traffic cone fucked a used box of Playdough and had an abortion.

Grabs shotgun Alright boys it's Pikachu hunting season

Just, just why? The difference in tail shape was already good enough tell the two sexes apart. Why go as far as something like... ...THIS?
I was thinking maybe they could do something where you could ride on your Pokemon by using a bind just like in SM, but it would check to see if your Pokemon is in a list of ones that can Surf, and it would spawn the model to jump on if it passed that check. Basically almost every Pokemon that could learn Surf when HMs existed would be in said list.
They gave Red waaaayy too much dialogue at the Battle Tree. =/
HMs working like TMs in terms that they can be used to teach moves, but also, if the HM is on your bag and you have a compatible Pokemon in your team, you can use the field move anyway, without said Pokemon having to learn the move.

also the map, though this really isn't anything new https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/0d4cbe31-b288-48d4-ae34-5ce8a824f3ff/image.png
I'm assuming those new exclusive moves are mostly there so your starter doesn't get absolutely owned when going up against Brock or something. I have a funny story about that. When I was a kid playing Yellow, my solution to beating Brock was to catch like 5 Pidgeys and have them spam sand attack and then whittle his pokemon down with shit like gust and tackle. It didn't occur to me that I could just evolve a Butterfree and use confusion instead.
The Japanese trailer is a bit longer, mostly because the English trailer cuts out scene with text boxes https://youtu.be/HPduLKyFyxQ
The new HMs, Secret Techniques(ST?) are kinda lame, tbh. Whatever happened to the "Pokemon and human help each other" thing they've been sticking with?
Do they not expect you to catch any other pokemon, or what?
