yeah how about "those kind of people don't deserve pokemon and they can go back to whatever nostalgia hole whence they came".
Pokemon didn't progress 20 years waiting for them
it's actually... really cute, i want it to be real even though it's just a placeholder
Beyond JynxClub, who else is saying it's a placeholder?
It's such a specific design to be a placeholder.
It's not like it's something like this:

Maybe the Pokemon is a man-made organism that escaped and evolved (genetically) to survive in the wild. due to it being originally raised in a sterile environment, it gained traits for survival. it could just be some variant that could survive at scrapyards. like i see that Pokemon being created by humans like Porygon and Castform are a thing, but the latter looked like as if it could naturally form in the wild, but the former is explicit about its purpose. would honestly would like to see how manmade pokemon are created in the first place, rather than just being fluff in a backstory.
To me, i wouldn't be surprised if they tried to do an Orange Islands in-between season once they get through the Alola stuff. they'd probably try hyping it by introducing it alongside a character they see for like 2 episodes like Noivern was. it's not like they have any issue with the Movies currently taking place in a separate continuity.
As for the pokemon itself, i think it just takes traits from Roggenrola (the lack of face), Litwick (adorable goo-body) and Ditto (adaptive nature). it's probably going to be a pokemon somewhat similar in archetype to Gible where you could potentially get it in a place that isn't part of the main path, but could evolve into a semi-Pseudo.
Its body is probably small chunks of metal, they probably can't show that much polygons on mobile, but the anime could show the body as a mere construct it controls with magnetism to get round. when it evolves, it probably gets legs, with the nut becoming an eye or something. the dot just moves/squishes to emote. it probably instinctively rotate individual shards to remain smooth throughout its body, besides the hands and soles of its feet. when it isn't relaxing, it's body would be similar to Marshadow.
If they go with the Manmaderoute, i would like to see it being a chimera; Magnemite genetics, but with it's magnetic force being reduced/more manipulatable, but not an electric type? probably magnetic rocks in nature.
I like cake without icing. Cake is better that way. I know I can take off the icing myself, but whenever I get a cake with icing, I throw it in the trash. Cakes with icing have no nostalgic value to me.

Here it is, whatever it may be.
Yeah, with animations like that it's definitely a new pokemon. It's pretty cute too
Betting it's Steel/Normal or pure Steel, hopefully it has a cool and powerful ferrofluid-inspired evolution

i drew the mysterious #891
The Unown H always made me think of Darth Vader's TIE Fighter.
Aw, it even has a tail. It looks so adorable in motion.
Why are people saying this is a placeholder for Kecleon? You do realise all the assets they use are made already right, they use the XY/SM assets, why would they make their own placeholder model and animations....?
"Kecleon" is just a reference to the fact that Kecleon was one of the first gen 3 pokemon revealed, and was the first shown in the anime.
It looks like a baby pokemon to me. Probably evolves into a crazy scrap monster or something.
Yeah, everyone saying it's a placeholder have no idea how placeholders work in software development.
Niantic's actual placeholders look like this:

That last one is their Pokémon slot placeholder that occupies number 000 in the game, and has a model and everything. There is absolutely no way they made a brand new modeled and animated design as a Pokémon slot placeholder when they literally already have one.
Never forget September 21st 2018, the day Niantic was responsible for 2 of the biggest fuck ups in Pokemon history (spoilers for the new mon)
Holy shit, I can't believe PogChamp is getting an evolution this gen!
It'd be hilarious if they end up just calling it Missingno and not give it a number to somehow retcon it into the national dex to avoid the obvious oddity of jumping from #151 to the 800s.

Saw it while playing during community day in Eastern US
I was originally thinking maybe this new mon was a sign that cross gen evolutions could be returning in gen 8, but now looking at how small it is, it's probably another mythical that has a relation Ditto kinda like Diancie with Carbink
It would be the third time a mythical was showcased prior to the start of the generation, with the other two being Manaphy and Magearna. The other five generations were started by just a regular Pokemon or a legend (in Ho-oh and the Lati's case).
It's so cute!

It has a red cable sticking from its butt, that's adorable
I ain't going to lie but this new DittoGearStraw doesn't look that good.
Maybe Nintendo will come up with some backstory and trivia to justify its design.
I just want some answers at this point. Right after community day, this thing was spawning everywhere. 5-530 est. Every single catch was ditto though(which netted me a 100% IV Ditto). Shortly after 530 I saw one more spawn of it and it turned into a poliwag after capture.
I was more excited for this than shiny chikorita.
I don't have the original source, but I believe James Turner had said once he wasn't allowed to acknowledge fangames and designs.

I believe prior to him saying he designed Poipole he retweeted several different fan art images of it.
While it looks a bit uninspired for me at first sight too I'm glad it had a possitive reception and people didn't go for the instant "trash, garbage lazy design" that usually happens when introducing a new non animal themed pokemon.
It also saves us the time to resort to compare the complains with electric orb, grumpy rock, flying magnet and pile of sludge.
I laughed at the Zygarde cells and it turned into a Gundam.
