YIKES, looks like they've learned absolutely nothing.
On the bright side, a lot of the skills on these units were either seasonal locked or 5star locked- while the latter is still the case, it'll be nice to have more options out there.

I mean, it's possible people are still whaling or even dolphining(if that's a verb) for popular characters.
In which case I'm disappointed in humanity.
But I would imagine putting out characters that are somewhat popular but not in the game yet would prove more profitable (and better for the game) than the same 8 characters over and over and over and over and over.

Two major things here:
Heroic Grails allow you to summon heroes from past Grand Hero Battles and Tempest Trials. The cost to summon a hero multiple times increases with each summon, up to 500. Gives players the chance to +10 GHB and TT units as well as obtain useful inheritable skills.
Aether Raids, in which you make use of various structures in offensive and defensive situations. You can earn Heroic Grails here.

Well, now I can FINALLY work on a +10 merge project of Joshua, even if it takes half a year to earn enough points for him.
I hope they'll add more sources of grails than just ~40 a week (50 if you're at the top), kind of like with the weaponcrafting stuff and sacred coins
because 10 weeks (12 if you grail) for a single unit seems... eh
Sure, it's a lot better if you just need 1 or 2, but +10ing a character is going to take for fucking ever without some other source of income
Also, I'm disappointed that they're still relying on bonus units. And probably bst too.

sure, sure, of course they're going to incentivize whaling and support whales
but it's still bullshit game design
they punish you for having units with lower stats
but you're already at a disadvantage for using units with lower stats
BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOWER STATS
would they really lose THAT much money by removing bonus units?
Hell, I just thought of a solution: don't give the bonus units double score (aka the only score), just give them extra stats, like +4 to all
and then base scoring solely on the team you face, not on the ranking of your own team

For buying buildings in Aether Raids.
That weapon effect on Saber's golden dagger.. I'm surprised we didn't HAVE that already. Melee/ranged counter regardless of distance but ONLY when your special is charged, makes a nice bridge.
Also wee babbins Azura is nice, I want her. She probably wont be as good as my Fae or Nino but I'm sure I can still find a build for her.

This game man. Used all my 100 orbs to get Camillla and guess what, got Soleil and Ayra with the worst IVs ever. Then I got the 9 orbs from the paralogue and finally summoned her but now I'm outta orbs. Gotta start saving them for Christmas

Aether Raids are a good answer to the faults of arena. Do wish we got more space to work with, but it's a nice break from the usual PvP BST-focused shenanigans. I actually get to use the characters I like, and there's a bigger incentive to make custom teams that can overcome certain obstacles.
Shame that bonus units are still integrated, but you don't need to babysit them as much.
I sure hope Aether Raid will hook me more than Arena
I recently decided to actually try a little with Arena but it's honestly just too anger inducing
I'll stick to this cycle of going up to tier 18 and back down to 17 etc.

my main gripe is my athena doesn't have quite enough killing ability on defense the limited number of times you can play because of aether. I guess it's balanced in its own way, though.
This replay stuff is great.
And the bonus unit only adds 25% instead of 100%. So it's not AS bad if your askr trio isn't up to snuff or you don't have any other units.
And you don't have to focus on BST nearly as much.
Post your Aether Raid defense set ups?
Here's mine that's netted 4 wins and 3 losses due to particularly Res tanky enemies. The right side is a bottleneck with traps and a Sanaki that can nuke you if you walk close enough to her. The left side isn't much better because of the mountain that fliers can go over. Also realize that you should be using your Aether fountains and stuff as wall because they don't serve any other purpose in battle.

Aether recovers slowly and little by little to keep the mode competitive
If you could just grind and grind over and over again the leaderboard would have no point as it would stop being a competition of who is da best and more a competition of who plays the most, see: Tempest Trials leaderboards
The fact that we get one indestructable building does mean you could in theory try and set up a tunnel
I honestly can see a lot of tactical oppertunities with these traps and the like
Think that'll settle very quickly because high rank players are gonna on the higher tiers and low rank ones on the lower ones, atm everyone is in the lower ones.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet here but you can apperantly lock in your defense team

You could very well make Aether raid specific builds that won't affect the units you're actively using
That'll make dealing with sacred seals and certain skills easier
If it wasnt obvious, for now, player phase units on the defense are king
