God, seeing those maps screenshots makes me go "How small this map will be?"
KF1 is 10 years old today. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249352/4fe893da-e899-4860-aa95-d617ec08a2ed/image.png Happy birthday, KF1. I jumped into the game with some friends to introduce them to the series a few nights ago, and it was just as solid as I remembered it, the only thing that even stood out to me was the first-person HUD arms being the same for every character, otherwise it was just as fun as KF2, if weaker graphically and a bit more limited since perks are more limited in KF1. If anybody ever feels like it, definitely jump back into KF1, even if it's just to play with the guns that aren't in KF2 yet, like the Orca Propeller, bolt-action steampunk rifle, bloat thrower, or ZED Guns. The simplicity is more than worth it, and while I love a majority of KF2, the maps in KF1 are still way better. Hospital Horrors, West London, Wyre, Black Forest, and Manor are classics.
I'm gonna use it because I like to go all right-perks when I'm a Berserker, so I can zip around the map and regen HP if I'm in danger. Kind of sucks though, as I normally don't buy an HM-Tech Pistol or anything to heal teammates (though I will run up and heal them if I'm nearby and forego healing myself). I can see myself not liking the Medic Bat, but I'm gonna try it regardless.
Dunno about you guys, but who here's expecting the game to not run at all during the beta? Seems to me the game's struggling to handle the content bloat it has received in the past 3 years.
The only problems i ever had running the game was just during the game's booting because it frontloads everything. Otherwise, i've almost never had an issue.
only time I had stability issues was during the Xmas beta where I kept crashing when somebody picked up an Mp7.
Do you guys think we are gonna get any more characters in the coming months? Even as DLC? I miss this guy https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238793/aa471849-486d-4bf5-9cd2-db102e4db0c0/image.png
Still want an actual proper mask for Steampunk Foster https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249352/88b5ffb6-6c0e-4f08-a50b-145dfbfc227b/image.png And an actual Steampunk Scully, not just a waaaay oversized helmet https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249352/ba3b1ee0-4dd9-4ea6-b311-7693943c04d3/image.png
Honestly they should just make it a cosmetic pack, so you could wear it on classic masterson. Since they share Alan Wilson's likeness
I'm still holding out for Harold Enfield Lott to appear again. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/killingfloor/images/f/f6/Model_haroldlott.PNG/revision/latest?cb=20180625161846
I'm considering buying KF2 because its on sale and I enjoyed KF1. How do they compare? Also, is the deluxe edition worth it?
KF2 is great. Not as simplistic as KF1 (which is a bonus because KF1 is a lot easier to ease into) and the maps aren't as well-done gameplay-wise, but so much of KF2 is improved that it's hard to recommend KF1 over it. Deluxe edition is just bonus cosmetics iirc. If you want cool armor, headphones, 9mm skins, and DJ Scully, go for it. If none of those interest you, don't bother.
I'll probably be hosting a server for the thread when the event/beta goes live, so once it goes up, I'll paste the IP so we can all play.
Apparently we are not getting the beta this week from what Yoshiro said on the TW forum.
I'd really like to see Ash Harding come back honestly. There's not really a female soldier type character and I liked her design. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107295/11b48a5b-8a82-4424-97cf-be108dd3f456/AshDLC_1.jpg
I think we need more female characters in general, we have two of them. Or three if you really want to make a stretch and include Rae as a character at all.
Killing Floor 1 was probably more skill-intensive because the mechanics were unintentionally built to be cleverly exploited for minor, but useful benefits. Knowing and learning the ins and outs, and all the nuances of this game will noticeably heighten your skill-level overtime. Killing floor 2 is an overall improvement over everything bar from SLIGHT differences in gameplay. Its a bit more stream-lined mechanics wise, probably easier to understand but there isn't as much mechanical skill improvement to be had, bar being a good shot. Zeds are a bit more RNG, leading to more moments where things will helplessly fall out of your control if things get hectic. Its still good, and you'll probably find a majority migrating over to KF2, its kind of more of the same.
I think the one thing that bugs me more about the differences between KF1 and KF2. Is KF2's zed spawning. KF1 had the majority spawn in out of bounds areas and walk into the playable map, and depending on all player positions spawn a few just out of sight for pacing purposes. KF2 says fuck that, spawn an entire wave just out of sight around a corner that the player is about to go around and get sandwiched between with no real means to get out of it. This alone makes KF2 such a chore to me, since I can't reasonably predict when the game is just going to try and fuck me. All I can rely on is sound queues and my map knowledge means jack shit in terms of enemy spawns.
I Out of the loop and only play as Scully/DAR/Foster, why isn't Rae fully considered a girl?
I think it's more that she isn't considered a character at all because she sucks
the one dude that makes all the really good mechanic guides and posts on the subreddit, Tamari, has an avatar of her so i don't personally think she's awful https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249352/8aca1cda-5845-45db-b73d-6214ba95387f/image.png
I wish i could understand why people hate her so much.
if I hear "this cat is back in the game" one more time from her mouth I'm leaving a HoE server midgame.
I've literally had "minimize battle chatter" checked since I actually came back to playing the game around 2017, and it's kind of amusing because I didn't realize the characters all actually talk constantly. I was just use to believing the only lines Scully had beyond pain screams were "pisscup!" and "aw what's that little freak? you lost? you want me to kill you? okay!"
I much prefer the map specific battle-chatter. Like being on outpost and Scully going "Hey santa, you out here?" Random battle-chatter gets way too repetitive for my liking.
I mean yeah, in picture form without hearing the character, everyone's fine really, even Rae, but... I don't like the stuff she comes out with, it sounds random and despite a lot of other characters repeating their lines, only her lines get tiring for me to listen to; minimising battle chatter isn't really an option since that does it for everyone and she's the only character I don't like listening to.
For me I don't mind the constant chatter for some reason. It just never bothered me, and as for Rae she seems like a nice character, but one thing that kind of irks me is her face. Kind of has a plastic-y doll look to her when compared to the others, but aside from that I think she's okay.
I'm sure that later on with KF1 the newer maps had completely fucking dumb spawns as well. I think Tripwire either made some changes to how they were spawned or the newer maps did not have enough out of bounds areas for them to spawn.
It's probably the lack of facial animations/expressions. KF2 is sorely lacking in in expressive character animations, so whether they're being beaten by a fp, or just dancing, they always do the same expression
Also wanted to post this earlier, but I made this last night. I turned Bill Masterson into the Navy Seal from CS:S (I use the Snow outfit now instead of the default one). https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/326545839998631938/578837131389304842/unknown.png
