It's not wack at all. Fighting games don't have set soundtracks and rap is one of the most fitting genres for fighting games. The last time there was a set song for a game was OG Mortal Kombat's theme.

also electronic mixed with rock is the best fit for fighting games as evidenced by literally every fighting game that has those within their soundtracks (including anarchy reigns), rap aint shit (hip hop however, as anarchy reigns again proves, is perfect with the right backing track and lyrics)

Let's not forget the fact Raiden we saw in question is that "He-must-win" guy Dark Raiden from Armageddon era. Quite possible he also came from OG, and Scorpion from OG followed to put him back in place.

I thought it was just the new timeline Raiden after corruption from the Jinsen, like what he looked like during the post-credit scene.

Yeah, like said already I'm pertty sure he's the canonical Raiden after turning evil. Wasn't the main conclusion of MK11 Lui Kang and Kitana joining together to rule Outworld (or whatever it's called) and Raiden turning evil?

Yeah, if I recall this timeline is following the prior timelines chain of events loosely. This is mirroring the time around Deception/Deadly Alliance in which Raiden, as stated in a way above, gets sick of people's shit for invading Earthrealm as well as tired of his godhood keeping him from going all out. So he renounced his god status in order to protect people and participate in Mortal Kombat for realsies. Some other stuff happens, but we will see what direction they take Dark Raiden in this timeline.
