In my opinions, what MK always lacked is some sort of Highlander dude hauling a big ass sword that can cleave armies in half. Just imagine all those creative moves utilizing Claymore sword, not to mention fatalities.
The closest I think they've gotten to that is Cyber Sub-Zero using a giant ice blade for some of his moves and the War God variation that gave Kotal Khan a Macuahuitl. But nothing along the lines of say Nightmare or Siegfried from Soul Calibur though.
I hope most of the newcomers from MKX are coming back. I honestly can't think of a single one of the Khotal Krew who I disliked.
Bonus points if they abide by Ferra-Torr's arcade ending and bring Ferra back as a colossal brute being ridden by a new tiny child.

if you're talking about MK11, injustice 2 had where you could transmog the look of gear onto another gear, and also had a $10 DLC to unlock ability to do this unlimited times with no currency cost

Still hoping for Master Roshi (Full Power). I won't be surprised if Caulifla or Kefla gets added.
If you added all of the post-DB female fighters in the series besides the magical girl parodies from the Tournament of Power you would still have fewer female characters than Gokus in that game.

God I hope Jiren is the only charge character in this game so he becomes completely useless and no one plays him
Not surprised that Gogeta was going to be added, even for being another Goku. I was somewhat that it was going to be the old movie version with Janemba, but tmakes sense being the Super version along with Broly. I am curious if they're making him speak or just make growling noises.
That's what happens when DBZ games have characters that are considered separate if they're transformations. You should see the character roster on Budokai tenkaichi 3 - that game came out before UI/SSG/SSB were even a thing, but Goku has at least 10 different playable forms alone.
Hooooly shit Videl. She might actually be enough to get me back into the game - her and Great Saiyaman were my two dream characters, they're so much fun in Budokai and Super Dragon Ball Z (well, Adult Gohan in that one), and great characters after the Super Saiyan overload that was the Cell and Buu sagas. I'm really glad they decided to add her, I feel like that was a perfect choice so people didn't look at the pass and say "great, just a bunch of characters promoting the movie, way to stand by your laurels ArcSys".

Phone quality doesn't do it any favors either, but you can tell it's not nearly as bad as the stream made it out to be. Bummer for the band.
