Skullgirls has a small but dedicated community that has has its bigger numbers at Combo Breaker/Frosty Faustings, but if SG2 is ever going to be a possibility, it would have to rely on the success of Indivisible and the Skullgirls mobile game, which is only decently popular.
Also Skullgirls was more fucked over by stupid rules set by EVO that amount to "if you can't afford to give us money, you're game won't be at our event" than anything. The cards were stacked against Lab Zero from the very beginning, but what they accomplished is one of the best, easiest to get into, most enjoyable, and most distinct fighting games on the planet.
EVO fucked Skull Girls in the most blatantly hypocritical way possible
Too soon since release my man, but hey come here Blazblue Crosstag! What do you mean it's not even out yet? Nonsense!
It's kinda a shame that SG never got Evo mainstage but it did very, very well for itself and has had a great run. Can't really complain at all with how the game's turned out.
I'd take GGPO over EVO mainstage any day lol
I wouldn't say that it's dead, if you hop in the Discord servers you'll find tons of users to play with, and it's still featured in many tournaments as a side or main, with the flagship one being Combo Breaker.
From the public recognition side of things, yeah i guess you could say that. Though it sorta became a bit more popular to mainstream audience because of the release of Skullgirls Mobile (which i wouldn't consider a proper fighting game, but still a fun mobile game).
Indivisible will release this year though, who knows if Lab Zero will give Skullgirls another shot after that.

Gonna assume the official announcement will probably be after UNIST finals at EVO or earlier.
Please just give your video game a normal name
What? You can't find Nights of Days: Electric•Sheep•Dance TK421 ♥♦♣♠: Lightless Year Edition in Google? What are you some sort of dummystupidman who plays dummystupid western shooters? Geddouttahere.
i had to like, do a triple take at the name to realize it was a new game
i initially thought [st] was being localized in Taiwan.. and i was like "why would they announce that at EVO"

Granblue Fantasy Versus will also be running a closed beta starting May 31st, and you only have until the 24th to sign up. I know some are worried about the simplified controls and combat systems, so maybe this might alleviate some concerns? Or drive them further, I dunno.

I can't believe they are rebooting the series. Those graphics sucks.
But for real, this is neat to have to remember how it all started.
Is Bridgett in that one? 👀

Me: Hey, wanna play "X fighting game"?
Friend: I don't know, I don't feel like playing it.
Me: Let's try a few rounds and see what happens.
*One hour later*
Friend: Dude, this game is hype.
Such is the cycle of fighting games.

Played MK11 a bit for the first time a few nights ago with friends, and played MKX a bit after that. I really don't know why they got rid of the stance system and surgically implanted the Finishing Blows, MK10 was super duper fun and the stance system is IMO one of the best and most creative fighting game mechanics in a while. MK11's gameplay wasn't bad, but I enjoyed MKX much more more. Finishing Blow is definitely just "forcing" players to use the X-rays, and they drag the pace of the match down so much (since I only played Jade, we got to see Jade's Finishing Blow around 7 times and it was just as boring and annoying the 7th time as it was the second time). Also the fact that MK11 was a lot "harder" for me personally to jump into just because the idea that there's an entire skill customization and cosmetic system that warrants its own delving into, unlike MKX where you just jump in, pick a stance that sounds fun, and have a blast.
MK11 feels and looks probably around 200% more solid as an actual fighting game and I have to give it props for that. There's still some weird problems with NRS not knowing when to lean in the competitive or casual play(the towers, how you have to create the tournament variations so you can practice in training, ridiculously long lethal blow animations etc), some balance issues and still kind of janky animations.
Krushing Blows are really cool even if they're just the Lethal Hits from SC6, but way more bloody, though some of them seem to send some characters on side quests while others get them while playing their actual gameplan.
I need more time on the game and opinions from Sajam to say anything else.
