the statstick change really sucks mainly because the biggest offenders are bv, and arc, which aren't even effected though im sure they'll change those a bit, since they teased a few arc changes, but I just expected them to tune the mods rather than simply get rid of their usage
According to the manifesto, totem nodes will also be getting brand bonuses. I wonder if brands are like totems/traps in that they're their own entities for damage purposes (so they can't leech but you don't take reflect damage, can still do damage with them even if you have Ancestral Bond, etc.)
right but to my mind that has little to do with the crux of the 'stat stick' problem which is that wielding an incompatible melee weapon for the stats is significantly better than 2h or 'real' dual wield for most skills. that was the case before shaper weapons with stuff like death's hand not saying shaper weapons shouldn't have been nerfed but I think that is fundamentally a misunderstanding of the term because literally every non-attack character uses "stat stick's" by design
I like the changes, but I dont like the archetypes they are pushing. Most of the times they dont work as they wanted (scourge arrow pathfinder ended up being better with elemental damage and toxic rain with Quill rain) Let people figure out powerful combinations instead of trying to force them!
I should've reworded my post. My bad. I don't know why I focused on stat sticks so much. I think the biggest personal problems I have with this are: 1.) Unique weapons that were made to be stat sticks are now functionally useless without total reworks (with the exception of maybe Scaeva). This is probably going to be re-mediated in the patch notes today, so I'm not too worried about it. 2.) This doesn't help 2handers. This just makes it so melee as a whole is even worse off than ranged. 2handers are still bad in comparison. 3.) Why would I bother making an Ice Crash, Earthquake, or whatever build now? If I want """"melee"""", I'm just gonna go BF and Reave and MS as I usually do. Shaped stat-sticks made them very strong, yes, but they're still very strong without them. The most popular skills in the leaderboards are bow skills and spells by far. Cyclone and EQ are still gutted by the AoE nuke a few leagues ago. 4.) Shaped mods are still ridiculously strong. I can get 1, 2, or even possibly 3 free Hatred's depending on how much money I have? On top of that, still get a bunch of good stats for casters? It's easily the biggest additions of powercreep in the game. I kinda doubt this will be in the patch notes, because it's a major change that I'd expect to be in the manifesto. I'll be very glad if this gets addressed though. 5.) The whole "nuke an item/ascendancy/mechanic/whatever if it's strong" mentality is really getting tiring. At this point, GGG isn't balancing, they're just meta-shifting i.e. League of Legends and DotA 2. How many times have we gotten an item that was very strong, only for it to get annihilated and not touched for leagues and leagues? Too many to count. I think GGG has the right idea, but the execution was both not enough and too nuke-y.
Forum Patch notes are up boys
Quill Rain now causes you to deal 40% less Damage (as opposed to Weapon Damage). This affects all versions of the item. Man, I did not expect that. As if explosive arrow wasn't dead enough.
The Shaper weapon mods which cause you to gain a portion of Physical Damage as Extra Cold, Fire, or Lightning Damage, or Extra Damage of a random Element, grant half as much Extra Damage. gottem

So I reinstalled PoE and have been rollin around the past couple weeks without really researching the changes made beyond the game actually being finished. The last time I played through Act 4 had just been added. I've rolled new characters, I have some really decent stuff in my stash. Can anyone give me a decent link to late game builds? Are there any changes I should be aware of? I feel like I've missed out on a lot and with how big the game is it can be hard to find a decent resource. Currently in act 7 with a 61 Ranger lots of elemental resistance. Should I forsake the straight evasion rating and double up with armor or energy shield? I remember blowing through the early access without ever putting anything into armor or shield but its looking necessary.
Late game builds? Are you planning on playing on standard? FYI nobody plays standard. It's just works as a waiting room for new leagues. Check out this: poe.ninja There are a lot of mechanics in this League and you'll learn it as you play through all 10 acts, the masters will be plotted in some maps and you can help them and they'll explain the mechanics. By act 10 you should have a OK understanding of the different mechanics.
Yeah I've been playing standard. I had a delve character but It seemed like way more of a chore. Used it to farm stuff for my other characters. So its worth re-rolling into Betrayal?
Oh I got a Bisco's and made an exalt on it.

Those combined items are great, specially the portal.
Leveling with an impale ability, and I'm being reminded that one of my least favorite things about this game, which is how little visual feedback this game gives you on a lot of mechanics.
I leveled up to around 82 with the impale skills and they just don't feel good to play.
If you want to experience the new content Betrayal has to offer, yea, roll a league character. I recommend looking through one of the several builds here https://www.poebuilds.cc/ (builds are listed from most used first)
Well, that was fast. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/950720600043461578/C3927BA04C6024065D8BF3CB6E96E805CAA56636/?fbclid=IwAR1U5YwJVaUSgvIla5PVDd6VPUrbVfqlsx1e-ybj3hs1Nc82KPgk8nqKM3Y

Honestly I made a an arc totem hierophant since I wasn't enjoying the new melee stuff. Though I really hope for 3.6 they do something to make the campaign less of a slog. I'm just feeling like it's a bunch of fat before far more interesting content. I really think, what with the new hideout system, that they should have something akin to ssf and hc in starting with map content. But that's just me.
when you https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1996/0b8a3c7f-d937-479d-8571-3b58e997d2ca/image.png also, I love this new hideout system. the stately, cartographer, and iceberg hideouts are my favorites by far.
how do you solve these puzzles? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237741/1cd8bee2-bdb7-4d3f-acea-d0d33acfca84/Path Of Exile Screenshot 2018.12.11 - 00.32.25.79.png
There's a line of those tiles before you enter the room. Follow the order from the furthest one away from the room to the closest - so for instance if the tiles outside of the room were arranged Fire, Cold, Fire, Lightning, you'd only step on tiles in that order until you get to the end. If you only step on tiles in that order, the door will open once you reach the last row and finish the sequence.
This has happened to me at least one time, although I swear it has happened more. I couldn't be bothered to clear the whole map to find out though.
