I uploaded beta for grass, because people cant stop asking for it :/
Stalker Two Grass Pack Beta
Hey folks, I'm thinking of replaying CoP for the first time since release. Are there any good mods that improve the gameplay or add fitting content, without totally messing with balance or style?
I'm rather a fan of this mod but it's hard to merge with stuff like AN4 or Atmosfear
Data from 2009 and some from 2011 show that average radiation in chernobyl area, measured above the ground is 0.3-1.6 mSv. On the ground it self in ares of most famous places like lazarus pool, abandoned school or palace of culture is 1.2-11 mSv. Metal elements measured from close distance reach average of 12-21mSv. Even vehicle dump barely reach 2 msv(of course vehicles them self can reach even 30-60 msv but you would need to stick Geiger counter to it).
Also we need to remember that radiation dosage depend on distance and time of exposure, wind and moisture, no one gonna sleep in rusted old car or spend whole day in old building that is covered in moss(that absorb radiation), or just because you put foot on small radiated area doesnt mean that your whole body get immediately dangerous dosage. Most of radiation dust is now in subsoil or absorbed by nature you would seriously need to dig your head and hands to every hole to get in trouble.
Its still dangerous to live there normally for long period of time, but as far as you fallow simple rules and dont poke with your fingers every damn thing, you can travel there without a problem.
Also its not like whole zone is dangerous, people live there normally only specific places are out for people.
Do anyone else like to do this?

My zombie-gun hoard.
That's pretty fucking dope.
I never thought they'd get this far, honestly. I thought openxray was kind of dead for a while but I guess not.
Road to the North is released:

- Dynamic missions can be repeated, including fetch and assassination missions (DoctorX).
Uh oh. Prepare for crashes.
So my friend is telling me that Ray of Hope "shit the bed" and "did a 180." He doesn't say how, and I'm not finding any info on how through some quick Google searches, so I'm curious if anyone in here has any sort of info regarding that, or if my friend is just full of shit.
He also posted a video of StalkerNET (completely in Russian as usual) saying that's now taking the place of Ray of Hope in the community.
So, another absurdly difficult Call of Misery based mod? Mehh...
Not a fair assessment period. It's a total story rehaul with a completely new world map layout.

Wait. So is this essentially a separate Stalker game in all but Wikipediable name?
I don't remember this intro. Did he change it?
nop, always been there
That featurelist seems great and all (I do love the idea of a new storyline), but when the core gameplay is still just, CoM... That's a big 'ol meh from me.
It's hard for me to enjoy any new story when I can't enjoy the gameplay. I wish more mods would target vanilla CoC for this kind of thing. I'm really not a fan of a lot of the additions in CoM/etc and how they're implemented.
I guess I'm in the minority, though.
more like quiet majority, i used to play misery cuz im a masochist when it comes to games and i do love the almost infinite hobophase if you dont exploit the economy but as i get older i cant be fucked with some of the shit CoM or CoM based mods have in store for you
It gets to a point where you must ask yourself just why are 10 bloodsuckers, a phantasm, and 50 zombies chilling in one area.
Along with a swarm of boars which swoop by every now and again, aggroing everything and alerting a nearby patrolling Duty squad. It can be a mess at times.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels similar then, haha.
I often times feel a little outnumbered in preferring vanilla-ish mechanics.
Its more Anomaly with proper story than CoM. So its more balanced in terms of damages and items. It have few annoying stuff but its more personal preferences.
After an extensive playthrough of Road to the North, I'm getting some of those artificial difficulty vibes. In the starting area of Cordon there is a small army of like 2 dozen bandits armed with Mosins and AKs blocking the player from proceeding forward with the questline. Now you start off with a sawed-off shotgun and a Makarov, and to me it seems like the enemies are bullet sponges whereas I take maybe 2 or 3 rounds before having to consume bandages and first-aid kits like fucking candy. The radiation levels are ridiculously high and every piece of debris or cover in the game world gives off some sort of deadly rads. The weapon ironsight FOV is insanely large, increasing the FOV by about 20-25 when lower than 75 making engagements from any range a pain in the ass. After garbage I'm getting a ridiculous amount of crashes on two separate saves that hopefully this new patch promises to fix.
All the unique gimmicks for RttN are okay, but it's true that the gameplay still seems way too Misery to make this mod any more enjoyable. So much for getting the English community's hopes up I guess :/
Hey guys, are you up for a trip down memory lane?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread
I remember reading a bit from the MISERY devs on why they balanced the game as they did.. Basically locking every tier of the story behind hazards that require passing a specific gear-check. It was very logical, but really it just isn't that fun to play.
RttN however just sounds like your typical tyrannical-russian-style-type-bullshit level of difficulty.
Wasn't the first STALKER thread just some guy going like, "hey guys anyone playing this game?" I can barely remember, that was 11 years ago...
I wonder if people actually played RttN... Or its just typical "my opinion is based on global opinion or 10min gameplay", because every mod is hard at the beginning and RttN in terms of hardness is really just like Anomaly... those bunch of bandits in cordon at the beginning can be killed with just saw-off and pistol... all you have to do is corner them all the time, not stand still like some pillar and expect that they will die from wind push.
i've played rttn for several hours now and all of the repairmen are not offering quests for to get them tools. cardan was the only one, and that was only for the first tier. magically a while after he asked me for the other tiers.
that doesn't matter though because all the traders sell rusted weapons that can't even be upgraded anyway, this also goes for all the drops.
this also isn't a problem since every enemy in the game is actually a zombie now.
also theres this really cool faction suit thing where you can wear other factions suits and pretend to be them but, none of them sell any armor or drop it because every npc is actually a zombie now like i mentioned earlier.
Oh I don't think I was around for that, I only really started being active here in 2010
Some of the first Stalker threads got my into the game so deep back then it was insane. I wish I knew how much total STALKER I played, cause every couple years I dive into it again.
