Im loving the game right now - but honestly I had to take a break after the first hour just because of how ham fisted and scripted the first section was.
What the fuck happened to Gunslinger? Did it completely fall apart? I have heard nothing for months now
unpacker for the game is out, texture converter is out. So far only models can't be imported. I did some research about them but no luck.
The first part is defs the weakest but man as soon as you get to that first area, it's magical.

well config reload is one thing

but the script reload is in the debug console as
dofile(getFS():update_path('$game_config$', txt..'.lua'))
which doesnt work because it's looking in the wrong folder, and the extension is wrong
changing it to the one below works perfectly, from what ive tested so far

Always day time would be crappy, would really take away from the "living" feel of the game. Shorter night wouldn't be great either because sometimes Day is nice, sometimes Night is nice. I can't honestly think of any alternatives.

GoohS: I said come in, dont stand there! will be probably one of most polished "weird" Stalker mod. Because we dont just throw random stuff to game, we make proper story for it and try to balance its gameplay to be "high as fu#k" and funny at the same time so you dont quit it after 15min of playing.
We still need to modify maps them self and textures but maybe we finish it before Stalker 2

I got into CoC 1.4.21 again a while ago and playing with the warfare mod makes for pretty ridiculous situations

Here's around 50 loners and clear sky circling around a single wounded soldier. We took the Agroprom base earlier when a psi-storm hit and there was a wounded guy outside and the message feed was just constant "there's one still alive, finish him, he thought he could get away, let sleeping dogs lie" until it passed.
I'm also once again frustrated by how extremely unfair NPC damage vs player damage is. If I get my toe nipped by a 9x18mm, I'll bleed out in seconds but a soldier can take an entire 5x45mm mag dump and still shoot back. For the record, I'm playing with Arsenal Overhaul 3 on Master. I read on ModDB somewhere that it's the way it is because NPC damage resistances (and what armor their models are wearing) are determined by experience and faction and not by the real armor values.
Maybe CoC actually unscrewed the difficulty modes in the original and playing on Master handicapped me. Maybe there's actually something to the disappearing bullets and invulnerability during animations things I heard about over the years. I'd love for someone to school me on how exactly damage applies in STALKER because NPC endurance (sans headshots) gets ridiculous the more you climb the gear tree and I would far prefer the game to be more balanced and less lopsided.
So my dad wants to try STALKER (He tried SoC a few years ago and it was too hard for him and he doesn't remember it)
I want to have him try CoP since it's definitely less hardcore than SoC is but I want to give him a decent starter mod - is there any stable overhaul that doesn't change much but spruces up things like A-Life and maybe comes with remodeled weapons? I was thinking about OWR + Absolute nature/atmosfear but I'm wondering if there's possibly a newer overhaul that also includes some A-life improvements

Been ages since I've played the series, feel kind of nostalgic and want to play CoP. Can anyone recommend me a decent mod that ramps up the difficulty a bit but without adding to much bells and whistles?

Makes me wonder if many S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modders are really out of shape when so many realism-based mods have such pitiful movement speed.
Is it that bad? I'd argue running around with a couple of guns and a backpack full of shit does slow you down a bit.
The problem tends to be that rarely is a proper movement penalty system set up for gear, so carrying some rations a jacket and a Mosin with a handful of spare ammo makes you go a fast as carrying full protection, two weapons and a backpack full of shit.
Besides, you'd surprised how fast you can haul ass with weight on as long as its well distributed. I've at least managed to sprint uphill while holding a lightweight friend (60kgs) in a fireman's carry.
Of cource you get worn out faster, but picking up speed ain't no biggie, especially when getting a jolt of adrenaline.
Which is what a lot of mods with 'realistic' movement speed totally drop the ball with, a 30kg backpack becomes a whole lot lighter when you're in fight or flight mode.
Then there is also the fact that slow movement speed in first person games tends to impact the gamefeel quite negatively as the player can't feel or see the weight their character is burdened with. Unlike in a third person perspective where you can visually show the amount of equipment slapped on the players character and even create slower and heavier walking/running animations.

Call of Pripyat Special Edition may be what you're after. I haven't tried it yet, so no clue about balance, but it looks pretty decent. Last updated in 2016.

Looking for people that know how to deal with all.spawn and things related to it. And also that is not afraid to work with GoohS mod that I posted in previous site....
Its mostly job of just putting few more spawns here and there in CS maps.
Mod it self it really lazy work, we do maybe one or two things per month so its not really hard or time consuming job...
I'm trying so hard to to like Exodus but the introduction to the winter chapter is literally an unnessecary 20-25 min long "cutscene".
