@wepl is there any way to make stalkers more reactive to things going on around them in general? In mods like faction war I distinctly remember Freedom raiding Rostok and duking it out for hours with Duty as nonplussed loners meandered about, lazily weaving between firing lanes as bullets and grenades whizzed past their heads.
Want some feedback regarding the design choice of few stuff i'm working on for future releases. This is a complete rework for the Select Faction menu for the upcoming version of CoC. Well... supposedly it will make it for R7. Main purpose is to expand the character creation and make more room for more options later, it uses points system to allow the player to customize their loadout. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198727/2f7229d2-80d4-4bab-a688-27da745d0c03/New Game.jpg Selecting faction and Icon is done by pop-up windows instead of droplists https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198727/5e7d2645-6816-4732-a07e-70112795187a/New Game - Select Faction.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198727/c0c9997f-caab-4fce-ac97-e2353318f5c3/New Game - Select Icon.jpg I will release it later as a promotion for R7 Here are few "somehow realistic" UI themes for a new crafting & item system for Anomaly mod. I mainly used this instead of the simplistic theme because I felt that it gives more taste to crafting concept in general. ignore the item list used in the pics, i put them randomly as an example. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198727/9b0b6880-60f2-41ef-b348-13bb3b80b544/Untitled-1.jpg Next is another wild idea of mine about maps (items) that can be found upon looting corpses, since Anomaly markers are disabled in general. New players can use those maps to discover the locations of the big anomalous fields in the Zone. Think of it as a similar concept to the one used in Fallout or Skyrim where you find notes about specific unknown locations. Repair kits are just an alternative UI theme for the same existing items (cleaning tools, sewing kits etc...) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198727/2bcb3dc1-2e9e-4088-a9ab-59cf022f145d/Untitled-2.jpg I can't make my mind yet on the concept or the design choice. If anyone have few suggestions, I would like to hear it before making my next move..
That pointshop looks nice. I always wanted this kind of thing instead of randomised loadouts.
The problem with finding maps to "discover" anomaly fields is that such a thing can't stay secret for very long. It's the sort of thing someone would put on the web.
Dead Air is insanely hard goddamnit. Keep dying from my health just going to zero. I assume I walked too close to a radiation pocket. Gotta change the way I play in the start. I love everything else though. So many options and things to do. Places to go. Just gotta get over that starting hump.
That's always going to happen, but it's cool for people who don't look it up, nice idea.
I mean in terms of lore.
Hey Stalkers. Can you guys recommend any good mods for Call of Chernobyl? I don't want Dead Air due to it being kinda BS, and OGSE because they took the main campaign and made it extremely tedious. I like something ala AMK. Currently im testing it AMK Autumn edition. Any mods with A-Life especially prominent and with a good amount of guns? And the usual gimmicks like storms and sleeping bags, maybe even cars? And interaction between stalkers? Suggestions will of course be rewarded with coins or eventually diamonds.
I don't think there's very good WiFi in the zone.
Not to mention that some stalkers might run into some shitty situation and lose their PDA :P
Looks good, but the character creation feels a bit off. I'm not really a UI designer, but I think the big weird vibe I get is because you see the information before the buttons to select stuff. So it's like you see the consequence of your choice, before you choose. I would suggest making it so it follows "Cause-and-effect". Also maybe something about all the choice being spread out, rather than keeping it to one "area". Not necessarily one box, but like one or two different horizontal lines would be better. So you'd have all your character creation and options on one horizonal line and then the loadout underneath. It's a bit wishy washy, but I could feel immediately that it just felt sorta off. I hope this can help despite the vagueness.
Anyone know why my Call of Chernobyl mod looks like ass? The graphics are turned to potato even tho in settings it's set to DX11(enhanced) and maximum settings...
What do you mean? Give us a screenshot. Also, try running _preset Extreme in the console, and maybe texture_lod 0 followed by cfg_save, and then restart the game.
Texture look flat, shadows flat, grass and other things don't render at a far distance, and anti-aliasing/none edgy stuff doesn't seem to be enabled.
There is your problem.
What should it be set to?
Dx9 Enhanced is the most stable and feature complete. Dx10 is good, but not stable for everyone. Dx11 is often more stable than Dx10, but that is thanks to A LOT of features not working missing entirely.
Does this apply only to CoC or can it apply to CoP as well?
CoC, CoP and usually other CoP based engines too.
I think some of the CoC default configs disable a few features in 1.4 (?) too Might need to manually set r2_sun on, r__detail_distance to something higher (performance heavy!), AA, etc. And yeah, as said DX11 can be buggy. I personally don't often have issues with it, a few of the glaring problems with R4 were fixed in some newer branches of the CoP engine (besides sunshafts disappearing after alt tabbing, anyway.) DX10 is probably your best bet if you're a graphics whore, otherwise DX9 Enhanced.
Thanks everyone, I'll give those a try when I'm home.
Anyone got any idea where the Devil Flowers are in Lost Soul? Found 2 of 3 and they're supposed to be in thermal anomalies, but I can't find the last one. I even checked the unmarked anomalous areas like that fire island in the swamp north of the burning farmstead. Got on from Circus and another from Ashheap, just need this last one.
CoP generally. Many things dealing with lighting do not work in DX11 and some shaders are incomplete, which is why it seems to run at a higher FPS then the other renderers. CoC engine has some of the issues with DX11 corrected. 1.5 might look like crap because the thms need corrected. But if you run the lastest version of AXRToolset (THM Validator) on the unpacked textures folder it should fix them.
I've noticed the sunshafts work as long as the game is in fullscreen and you never alt tab. If you alt tab or sometimes if you run the game in windowed, they disappear. And even then, it's not entirely consistent. I feel like it's something fucked up with the way the renderer allocates textures for shaders.
speaking of mods, can someone help me recall the name of a mod that was released I think 2014 or 2015, it was for call of pripyat and you started in the dead city map hanging out with the forester, I believe it had "trails" or "path" in the name
4th version of cliff textures... https://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/34/33982/cliffs_04.jpg Original if someone forgot how bad its look: https://i.imgur.com/o6v2bYf.jpg I think beside reducing saturation in the middle and making it more bumpy it should be good. I was thinking about putting on it more "steps" rocks like big cliffs have but in game it looked tad off, so I stick to more rounded rocks.
Gave Dead Air a spin and I'm kind-of getting into it. However I'm having a hard time figuring out the cooking system as well as repairing.
Dead Air was amazing till I got the hang of everything, and then radiation slowly killed me no matter what I did. Fuck that.
Honestly I've found more fun in the Anomaly repack than Dead Air. It feels a little less downright miserable (heh) to play despite being based on similar sets of mods.
I felt I had it pretty much under control for a while, until a sudden blowout forced me to microwave my nuts off while running for shelter in Garbage. I cannot for the life of me get it down again; virtually nobody in Garbage and Cordon seems to have any vodka. I'll probably have to abandon this save, because I can't run all the way to the doc Clear Sky base in time. I'm thinking of giving this Dead Air addon a spin, it seems to address some of the issues: Tweakium Economy/Repair Tweaks V4.1 addon
