God fucking damnit I have a love/hate relationship with CK2. Started as Herbert of Vermondois (Last Karling in 1066) and played the marriage game to get my dynasty lined up to inherit half of France (A super powered Aquatinia+Toulouse+Normandy), only thing between me and all that sweet, sweet real estate was a few prospective duchesses. Playing the intrigue game I managed to get away with three murders without suspicions in three years, until the duchess my heir was married to succeeded. Once she did I could set back and let time do its thing, only as soon as I hit the unpause button I got a notification that my daughter-in-law was killed in a suspicious plot literally a day after gaining the duchy. All my plans, all the work of an entire two generations undone as a minor noble family in the backass end of France decided to play game of thrones just as I was on top. I very nearly raged quit after that (Ironman) but decided to stick it out. Few very lucky occurrences (plaque killed off half of that rival family) I managed to get lined up for all those duchies again and locked down with a few kids. Knowing my luck they will all die of plague and I'll be back at square one.

The mod itself is very railroaded to the original flow of WW1 and the fact that the mod still uses the old outdated state map which resulted in inaccurate borders for the German-Russian borders despite the state map being fixed in newer versions should tell you all you need to know how much the devs really cares at all about the quality of the mod.
