just before 2.2 came out, i tried my first serious attempt at barbaric despoilers (xenophobe variant, to keep my options open) what killed it completely was the requirement for direct border neighbouring to go to war i'm so glad it got changed, so now i can go willy nilly pillage others and just generally be space vikings proper until midgame rolls around and you can't get anywhere because everything is closed, and 500 minerals and energy per planet gets exponentially not worth it tributary wars are too strong
(Stellaris) So today I found a possible bug with the Event Horizons quest line, im not 100% sure if it happens all the time but its annoying none the less. When you complete it all the way and your system gets turned entirely into tomb worlds it changes ALL planets aside from gas giants. The issue with this is that when it does so, it doesn't generate any planetary features for them leading to a bunch of planets that have no way to produce base resources and are thus effectively useless. I get that the changes to how habs work means you absolutely need resource generating planets but these aren't habs so im not sure if this was intentional or not. (I suppose it would be OP as hell if it just gave you a bunch of resource generating planets. Also this does bring an interesting point to light, now that the game really forces you to keep planets around in that you can't just spam habs/ringworlds for infinite resources I think it would be very neat to have a feature (or at least a mod) that means planets slowly run out of resources. Obviously it would be hard to balance for tall empires but a penalty based on size should fix that. Wars rage over the last remaining resources until there is nothing left, endgame is to make a giant ark or fleet to escape the galaxy and find another, queue you landing in a new galaxy that gets simulated up to a random year. Tech exists to solve this problem but its such a huge deal to get to you need to escape more than one galaxy in search of lasting peace etc.
Hm this is interesting https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/289cca40-cd0d-4542-8560-cbc6b349edc3/image.png
This is also a bug with terraforming in general apparently.
For those who still play Darkest Hour, a new, a and potentially last, version of KR is out for it https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/kaiserreich.529944/
The fuck just happened? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/752/99e67d82-c1f4-41fc-b8be-0e091fae2656/download.jpg

Paradox is about to do their first stream of Imperator: Rome. Should start in about 5 minutes https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive
So Paradox just bought Prison Architect from Introversion. Paradox Store | Paradox Interactive
The Rome map is interesting, when they scroll it almost feels like a globe.
jeeze that came completely out of nowhere, I thought the game was effectively finished? That being said, with paradox being completely open to any and all topics etc its at least opening the door for some of the more gray areas of prisons where introversion tried to keep things fairly tame
On one hand I felt the game was complete enough as is though more development and content may not be a bad thing. On the other this probably means paid dlc.
Yeah, either Prison Architect 2 or $DLC$ - Prison Architect has already hit its peak sales potential, so that's the only way Paradox is making a profit off buying it. Either that or they're gonna port it to more things than Skyrim, Trails of Cold Steel, and Resident Evil 4 combined over the long term.
so i got around to playing kr darkest hour, figuring out how this dh shit goes, slowly minding my own business when https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/964/878c635a-d5d7-4b7c-8a77-a8d63c9faeb0/oh shit nigger he actually did it what in the fuck.png so uh thank you based curtis, glad to see you again. interestingly DH actually makes minutemen partisans appear and they're fucking kicking ass. they started off in atlanta and birmingham and some pockets of them have gone as far west as las vegas. cmon curtis step it up fam goddamn does dh move slow but fuck me if it isnt one of the best grand strategies out there. wish id played this way fucking earlier

Oh boy, now we're back to reintroducing the complexity from DH/Hoi3 that they removed in the first place. HoI4 is such a schizophrenic piece of shit, my God.
Well I think a lot of people were pissed off that they removed that complexity in the first place.
I seem to remember a lot of people being happy they removed the complexity because the game was "more accessible" and the fact that a lot of people fucking hated HoI3.
I like the AI control of armies(Of sorts, it could still really be better) and the slightly better productions system, everything else that was good was basically stripped to make an 'accessible' game and gutted it in the process.
HoI4 is pretty fine from an approachability standpoint by the virtue that you don't need to worry about extremely complicated orders of battle or logistics that much However, the game is still let down in a lot of areas, mostly by the peace treaty system, AI and inconsistencies
The AI control is fucking awful if you sit and watch it. It likes to constantly shuffle forces around, leaves gaps in lines while shuffling, at times makes questionable targeting priorities, and that's not even including how the game handles frontlines. The idea is fine but "it could be better" is an understatement.
