I don’t see why
From my memory on the matter was that the static resources was a stupid idea that the community as a whole said as much and they just ignored em.

I'm just happy we are getting a proper historical sandbox from paradox for the first time in 6 years.
I don't foresee a lot of personal replay value in this one(just too little historical context available for a-historical runs), but it could be fun to do Macedonia, Carthage, and any Celtic faction playthroughs as "what-if" type scenarios.
Etruscan Empire just so it is identical to IRL history but with a different language and cooler mountaintop cities
The further down the timeline you go the more vague and widely inconceivable the resulting cultures would be so I really wouldn't mega-campaign with Imperator unless I wanted to write a novel on a bunch of fake new cultures as a result of whatever tribe I made into alt-Rome. Personally it's why I think the best CK2 start is the 2nd 1066 since It's a bit hard to imagine a world without any Anglicization.
Heh https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/4cbaa261-0091-410f-bfc0-1651eddd67a5/51A6725F-0616-425E-AC04-E17284A1C6D3.jpeg
Is that for the SPQR tag only, or BYZ too?
For both.
Speaking of Rome, am I Holy Roman Empire-ing right? https://files.catbox.moe/5zn8ts.png
I think the "alt history" unit models are my favorite. It's just interesting to see Paradox's take on what a fallen empire's soldiers would look like in the 15th, 17th, 19th centuries, and so forth. This one seems a bit more fantasy, but hey, there's nothing wrong with that. Lorica segmentata and muskets? That's just cool!

It definitely gives off the proper vibe of "Pike-and-Shot Rome" but I am mildly disappointed in the lack of late-empire auxilia influence in them, though the historical turbo-nerdity of that would probably just lead to confusion as to why they all look like regular medieval soldiers instead of legionnaires

Can't believe it's finally got a release date after nearly a year
I thought you were exaggerating, but I looked up it, holy shit. It doesn't feel that long (to me).
Oh totally, I only realised it's been that long because I looked at the announcement video a few weeks ago to see just how long it had been. It's actually crazy how long they've spent on this single expansion, and yet like you said, it doesn't feel like it's actually been that long.
They did say at the PDOX Con announcement that it would be a long ways off, but wow.
The "Pagan" faith is a stop-gap or placeholder. IIRC it also has Rome and a few others as holy sites. You will not play as the "Pagans" in normal gameplay.
The Kabbah was worshiped by pre-islamic Arabic religions, like Euskalduna said, it's a catch all for religions that can't be assed to include.
So, Ck2 observe mode ignors the end date https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/a76263bf-c858-43b4-a6d1-4d4e925484db/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/e86ee15f-a933-4266-8df7-75e097a5fc50/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/e2bf57b9-e360-4a2c-8ec9-58f85b80b694/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/7a9c14db-10f3-411d-ae4c-05cb917a957f/image.png
Reminds me of my first world conquest when Sword of Islam was released.

Apparently Man the Guns is part of the HOI4 "Field Marshall edition" since they didn't consider "Death or Dishonor" an expansion. Can't believe the seasons pass I bought for a game nearly three years ago is still paying off lol
It's rare I see Austria just fucking die fairly early. It's rarer that I've seen them replaced by Salzburg. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107251/6b7b8588-bda8-47ab-9876-ca7fba960d53/20190209201826_1.jpg
