Hey De Gaulle can fight for whatever france he wants! what is this nazi germany?
I have been having a ball as a Merchant Republic so far with CK2 I know that the government type exists in EU4 as well, but from my research there have been recent additions that have eroded the sheer economic competitiveness of Merchant Republics (factions vs estate, trade city vs trade company, etc). My preferred playstyle is to be the "invisible hand" in strategy games, trading actual military might for very strong economic "potential energy" that I can hoard over time and spend on a wide variety of things when I need it. Is MR a good choice for playing the "small size but big shadow" game in EU4, or is there a different government type that supports my preferences more effectively?
What's the current cheesy Division for HoI4 base? Just got through Soviet Civil War, and I'd like to be somewhat prepared once Germans are done Nibbling on Poland. Speaking of, would it be viable for me to try to get at Germans while they are fighting France?

Still OK to post Cities stuff in here? I finally made something that doesn't look like total shit. Still not fucking around with RICO plopping mods and detailing because I can't seem to get interested enough to micromanage city areas to do it. 40 cw still current meta? Damn. Honestly wish there were more modifiers for combat width available, or having various units take more/less cw.
IIRC you can make 20w slightly more viable with mass assault doctrine but I only see people suggesting that you spam 20w if you play China.
should work with soviet, i made decent with a soviet game where i started in 39 even.
I must be complete shit at division creation because nothing I make seems to thwart my enemies and I have to resort to huge stacks that bleed manpower. I'm shit at hoi4
Can I set all fleets to one template without selecting each and doing it manually for navy in HoI4 somehow?
What're you throwing at what? What're your compositions?
I dunno, I usually just modify the default templates by adding more dudes . Added some dedicated anti-tank and artillery to my infantry division during my last stint as Germany and it was a little better than normal but it still seemed weak. And that was even with making it easier by bumping Germany's strength slider to 50%. Sucks because when I watch the combat the enemy will have the ridiculous numbers like over 600 defense and over 150 piercing and around 500 attack and then my dudes will be doing piss all in comparison.
It's all about the rock, paper scissors and less is more. I think 20w is the best unless you really can handle doing 40w in Europe specifically. Infantry only for defense (though you can win with only them), Armor for breakthrough, Mobile Inf/Mech for exploiting the breakthrough and encircling. Support companies are awesome and superior firepower is the best doctrine cause it stacks tons of soft attack bonuses. Aside from that, keeping up encryption/decryption is important as it conveys a stat boost to attack and defense. Terrain is important and good for making defensive lines. Air superiority is either 1. needed or 2. needs to be countered. Meaning don't forget to have a strong airforce or a good supply of support AA which, if enough are present, can fully negate air superiority bonuses. Typically I make an infantry division that is 20w, mostly infantry with 2 arty along with arty support, AT support, AA support, recon and engineers. There's probably betters setups and ways to do it, but in my experience it works generally.
Really you don't need to worry that much about having the best possible templates unless you're playing a high difficulty or playing pvp.
Anybody know what this is? https://youtu.be/LkjQJPRrQwo
I was about to ask the same thing. Guessing some sort of ARG.
It's an ARG for Victoria 3. Gonna be properly revealed around 11PM EST.

I heard it might be related to vampire the masquerade
https://twitter.com/PdxInteractive/status/1107311009021288449 Definitely looks like new VTM game set in Seattle
Imperator is going to have some pretty cool modding tools https://twitter.com/gameimperator/status/1108768499135115268
The stream is looking pretty cool right now, still an hour and a half before the countdown ends but its a big open bar with actors dressed as different VtM clans. There is a guy in a leather jacket with the Brujah icon on the back. 2 girls dressed messily dancing and twirling around. 2 people in really formal suits, 1 with a cane. And the girl thats been on the stage is wearing a bright crimson suit. And probably a lot more that we've missed. Oh and Tender has a steam page now Tender Currently its just the stream embedded.
I wonder if Tender will be a real company in the game
a++ to the twitter guy who posted the discord server link too early https://i.imgur.com/x9QxqMF.png

According to PC Gamer, it's on Steam, Epic Games Store, GoG & Paradox's own store. In fact, steam's store page is already up.
I'm so fucking excited.
PC Gamer also saw a 30 minute demo at GDC https://www.pcgamer.com/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-preview/
