So after saying they wouldn't do it, they're doing it. Though it won't be in at launch.

Well color me surprised.
At least it isn't DLC.
Imperator is out. I'm not going to buy it for a few months, but have fun y'all.
Yea, I got the game in pre-order months ago, with a free DLC for EU4 bonus.
Though downside of the GOG version, no steam workshop mods, which is probably where a vast majority of mods will be.
it keeps crashing for me every time i try to play which is a damn shame
I quite like the game but Jesus, it's a mess in parts. The UI is fucking awful, it's laggy, the AI is fucked and the colours are ugly as shit. Why the fuck is Egypt practically the same colour as uncolonized land?
Someone has already made a EU4 converter, mind you it's for EU4's extended timeline mod.
Paradox Mods
I'm definitely waiting for some patches before getting Rome.
the worst bit is that somehow its missing simple and basic features that even ck2 and eu4 had at their launch
It's a small thing, I can see how it would be easily missed.
Also, anyone with Imperator, launch the game and run event 'test.39' in the console
Well, a least they admitted, unlike other pretty greedy Mainstream video game AAA developers who refused their mistakes.
Yeah the UI is a mess, was completely stumped on how to manipulate the senate as it wasn't in the tutorial. It's never has been Paradox's strong suit. Not an excuse though, you'd figure they would be able to streamline it a bit by now.
Got a good chunk of time into Imperator today, the UI gave me a headache at first but got used to it. The game itself is alright I suppose, coming from somebody not that big into ancient history, but it could definitely do with some more time in the oven. Maybe it's just me but I feel like Imperator suffers a bit from the old early EUIV between war thumb-up-bumitis; theres not much to do when you're not conquering your neighbours besides waiting for money/mana to accumlate so you can spend it. Admittedly not as bad as early EUIV but it could be better. The roadmap looks promising so I'm looking forward to that.
Did people really expect this release to be any different from the last handful of paradox grand strat game releases? Game gets released probably 6 months too early, has a decent base and some nice ideas but is ultimately full of not completely fleshed out or poorly implemented ideas that get fixed over the next couple of patches/DLC.
This might be a valid excuse for the other games like HoI4 or Eu4... But this is basically a rip of Eu4 with some vaguely but not really Ck2 like characters. This, to me, shows they are more or less incapable of building upon their previous work and adding it to their next title instead releasing a bare bones game(Because the community is used to it) and generously adding all the 'features' as free DLC(???) and reaping praise and money for it.
Imperator CAN be good.
But as of now it's the most bland paradox game i've ever played, holy shit. It's like they actually designed it as barebones as possible so that they can tack on DLC's later. Shame, Stellaris for example is
getting good after like 3 expansions. And it has taken years.
My biggest criticism of Imperator so far is that Pops aren't real Pops, and functionally they're just Development from EU4 renamed, with nothing to really differentiate unique pops of the same class/culture/religion whatsoever, with them all universally having the same happiness from the same factors.
There's nothing in the way of Jobs to set them apart, just pure Resource Generation.
According to Paradox's analytics, Custom Nations in EU4 (countries using the D00 tag specifically) are the most played after France.
That surprises me actually. I didn't think the feature was that popular.
Glad to see I wasn't wrong and everyone else thinks the same. Paradox is incompetent and only has a customer base because it fulfills a niche. Guess its MEIOU and HoI3 till I die (nah just kidding HoI3 has memory leaks that they wont ever fix either :^)))) )

they got based donoteat
Why would you play France in EU4 that's just easy mode. It's like starting off Victoria as the UK.
Some people think it might be from people testing mods, their analytics just counts how many times the country is played, not for how long.
Start as France to break them up, then tag switch to an other nation to play in a France free world.
I honestly think all my best games in EUIV involved France getting destroyed early.
Also another major criticism of Imperator for me: I know everyone hates the UI, but they're hating on the unimportant things that can easily be fixed in updates.
The big issue for me is that it's Dummy Thicc, and the clap of its asscheeks gets in the way of seeing anything else on screen - Honestly, it's so bloody big it looks like it's scaled for a console version. And to that end I'd bet on a console port within the next two years.
All the negative ratings he's got but he's not entirely wrong? They've made some improvements over the last decade but to be honest they're not anything significant like you'd expect in that time. The AI is still ass retarded which IMO is the biggest thing they should focus on and their games don't really improve on each other despite being the same engine and similar formats, their DLC style is borderline cancerous as well as their business practice of releasing clearly unfinished(But not unpolished) games to be improved over the next half decade.
You do realise you can scale the UI right.
