If only Halo 2 hadn't been rushed it could have been even better than it already was.
maybe they would have been able to place down even more sniper jackals if the game hadn't been rushed
The fucked up thing about Bungie wasting a year on an E3 demo is it made Halo 2 a shell of what it could be* and made HAlo 3 mostly the second half of Halo 2, rather than whatever it was meant to be.
*Which would be probably one of the best FPS games ever, since Halo 2 is great as it is.
Does anybody here play Project Cartographer? It's a halo2 PC mod that re-adds Live features using community services.
Latest update made it all use the Live menu instead of the LAN menu, and added voice chat and such. Fairly active during the day, US, it seems.
Yeah it's really neat, I've been following it since it started. Even at the end of the real Live matchmaking on H2V you were able to find a crowded match, so I'm glad this picked up the torch.
Had Bungie did everything they wanted with Halo 2 in a different timeline where they didn't rockstar it up, what would Halo 3 shaped up to be? Would it just end up being Reach?
Heck, i never realised Halo 2 was missing a Warthog Run. Neither did Reach though.
IIRC Bungie didn't want Halo to go past Halo 2. Originally, the Ark was meant to be located on Earth instead of outside the galaxy, and the broad strokes of Halo 3's plot would have taken place before the end of the game. So there may not have been a Halo 3 if things had gone to plan, assuming Microsoft didn't get involved.
Which Halo edition console was cooler? The green and gold Halo 3 edition or the ONI silver Reach edition?
The 4 one looks fucking horrible, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Chief-themed Halo 3 console. Even though I think the Reach one looks better, I prefer the old Halo 3 one to it.
I am never doing Cortana on Legendary solo ever again. I fucking hate the ranged Flood pure forms.
I've got the Reach console myself. While from an aesthetic point of view, I'd pick that as my favourite (Simple colour scheme & visual detail), the added hardware SFX can be a nice touch. Nevertheless, it's served me a very good eight years, even if the most use it's had in a good couple of years is the Netflix app for my mother or Battlefield 3 for my brother (The last game I recall playing on it was Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, which should have just gotten Xbox One Backwards Compatibility for the interested).
I'd definitely call the Halo 3 Machine a good second, as despite seeing problems with the first Xbox 360 build (While never seeing a Red Ring of Death, at least one console was lost to hardware failure, but the one I have still remains alive last time I gave it a whirl), as there's a good dark screen well suited to the Xbox and simple visuals once more.
The Halo 4 machine simply has far too much going on for me to even appreciate it. I'd give the other two a big "Yes", but unless the Halo 4 machine had a hardware benefit (HDD Storage could be one if I remember right), I'd give it a flat-out "No" from a visual standpoint.
I remember playing through Halo 3 on Legendary with a friend once and we were both dreading Cortana.
No flood spawned after the first minute, we just had to walk to the end.
If I remember correctly, the Halo 3-edition 360 is an Elite model, which fixed the hardware defect that caused the RROD.
I see ones on eBay with MS service stickers on the back, so at least a few of them are ringing. The board inside should be a Zephyr or Falcon, but definitely not a Jasper.
Jasper (and JasperV2, aka Khronos) were the ones made right before the switch to the Slim, and generally don't red ring.
A popular thing to do with the Halo 3 consoles is to take the outer shell and slap it on a Jasper.
I had (still have really) a Halo 3 edition Xbox 360. Sadly the GPU in it died a few years ago, so it's just a shell now. I was going to swap the shell onto a working 360, but I didn't want to risk breaking it.
I have one of those. It's a ticking time bomb at this point.
Well the one I just bought isn’t coming with the hard drive. There’s a surprising amount of them on eBay though, could they be fakes?
That's what I ended up doing. Always gets comments when I show it to people. My favourite special edition console.
I hate the decals on the halo 4 console but I love transparent shells on electronics
Had a purple transparent gameboy color back in the day
I hope the trend comes back
I start my Legendary run on Reach and what appears but a chance of an MCC port:
HCS Invitational at SXSW | Halo Championship Series | Halo
Why do you assume it's Reach?
They’ve said before they hear the demand and had nothing to say at the time, just like a PC port.
Would make sense to release the custom browser and then MCC on PC...
What if, ITS BOTH
i can dream
If Reach does show up on MCC it would be kinda neat to call the game The Spartan Collection. After all, it's not just about Chief anymore, even now with ODST.
They should have called it the Cortana Collection, too bad that's not as marketable and probably spoilers too
Halo The Good Game Collection + 4
Well Chief is in Reach.
And in ODST, if you count seeing the In Amber Clad following the Covenant Ship in the opening cutscene :P
