the next MCC update is now available for everyone who signed up to test https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/938cdw/mcc_insider_are_now_open_to_all_registered_mcc/
Cool shit, it’s already better, but I can’t find a match. Is nobody playing?
From what i've heard not to many people know about it so no one is playing
I imagine that only are testers limited, but gathering people to pick up an initially-botched port on a somewhat vacant system four years after the port's release is gonna have a hard time accumulating numbers easily.
Holy shit! Someone was able to get 4 player splitscreen working on the first halo for the original xbox!! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/57990/6e71f9bc-3f9b-47a5-b6ad-e5f972d6c77c/image.png Halo ce xbox 4 player coop splitscreen mod for Halo
It's pretty fucking great regardless. It's granted a wish I never knew I had.

I'm guessing it'll mirror Halo 1 in that you're on a ring trying to stop it from being activated, only Guilty Spark is replaced with Cortana.
I feel a simple Halo 5 or Halo 6 has more weight to it than these generalized subtitles. Oh well, marketing team gotta market.
Westerners get embarrassed when the number goes past 3 (though these days it seems they're trying to avoid numbers in general), not like Japanese companies that own it super hard
We they said they want Halo Infinite to be more friendly to new players to the franchise, dropping the number would make it less intimidating.
Well it's better then just calling it 'Halo'.
Halo: NaN
But halo infinite is basically halo 6 right because it’s continues from halo 5 as master chief? havent played halo 5 yet
It continues after Halo 5 but 343 has stated that it shouldn't be too hard to get into for people who missed everything after Reach. Still doesn't fix the hot garbage that was Halo 4 and 5's story though.
Halo 4 is masterpiece compared to the garbage fire that was 5. God I'm still upset.
4's story wasnt great because it leaned way too much on Forerunner lore and it assumed the player knew certain things from the books, but other than that it was passable. The thing about the Master Chief being the culmination of the Librarian's master plan to create an ultimate warrior or whatever is the dumbest shit though. 5's story made all the same mistakes but just more of them and on top of that the story was just convoluted and dumb
Why did they even bother with making Locke and Fireteam Osiris? Why didnt they use the same characters from Spartan Ops? Then they at least would have been pre-established characters in the games. As it is, the first thing you see is Locke and Osiris with no introduction to who they are beyond visually recognizing they're Spartans. Who the fuck are these people? Why am I playing them? As much as I love the early Halo books, especially Fall of Reach, they do the same thing with Blue Team. They have no introduction, they're just there. To someone who hadn't read any of those books, they'd have no clue who they are and why they're with Master Chief
I presume the whole Osiris thing was "everyone likes these old characters but we want to transition forward to new stuff with new characters, and the only way we're going to be able to get people to like the new characters as much as or more than the old ones is if we make them interact/take on the same roles" or something like that. It definitely seemed like they were setting up Locke to be a New Cool Guy Who Is Totally Badass, even though that didn't really pan out well. I mean, look, they even dragged Buck into it to try to bolster Osiris's popularity. It was like "hey, remember this dude? you like this dude, isn't he cool? well he's buddies with a bunch of other cool dudes now! check out how cool they are!"
They had the Master Chief fight a Spartan 4 and not completely own the guy, that alone is enough to make Halo 5 a bad game. This is the guy who can fight hunters on his own, a weak ass Spartan 4 can't beat him.
I've never been overly critical of the 343 stories but this section genuinely upset me. I wanted to see locke get his back snapped like a bread stick.
Buck was a late decision though... Gabriel Thorne was originally in his place
If Halo Infinite's gameplay is 100% Blue Team that would be fine with me. Maybe throw Locke in some cutscenes or have 1 special mission where you play as him. Also, would you guys want to see a return of firefight? It's actually pretty fun in Halo 5.
honestly i think this sentence shows that you missed the point of what Osiris is as a story element. they're an outsider perspective on the Chief-Cortana dynamic
Buck being part of Osiris makes me like them a tiny bit.
eh I thought Vale was okay too.
You forget about the worst thing out of the new stuff. KILLING OFF THE ROOKIE, GIVING DUTCH PTSD AND MAKING MICKEY INTO AN INSURRECTIONIST WHAT THE FUCK GUYS
His death was bullshit but the other two aren't really a problem. The first one is a natural consequence of war and the second one also seems sort of reasonable with the right context. The Insurrection isn't evil; they're not strictly good but neither is the damn United "steal your children and brainwash them into supersoldiers to brutally suppress dissent" Earth "just nuke the rebels" Government I haven't read the book though so maybe it was executed (hah) more poorly than it sounds
I have no issue with the actions themselves, but the fact they did all that IN A BOOK rather then a game which he shines in? Or heck, even a cameo would of been nice but this is just fuckin lame.
