The only redemption she deserves is the sword-through-the-face sort.
Preferably by her Sisters hands, while all of Lordaeron looks on. The Forsaken are revealed to have all been mind-controlled to be her slaves (as implied in Tirisfal), or else they're as iredeemable as she is.
I'm leaning more towards garrosh 2.0, or the moral ambiguity being dropped entirely in favour of the Horde just being painted as the official baddies. Ive read before the storm and honestly throughout I got the distinct impression that any character we are supposed to like, even members of the horde is somehow sympathetic to Anduin or otherwise suspicious of sylvannas. So that makes me think Garrosh 2.0 However in the book Horde actions were also unambiguously painted as bad throughout, while the alliance was always shown in a positive light. In game you could sympathise with either side's actions at the silithus wound- the Alliance could be seen as the bad guys for attacking unarmed bilgewater cartel workers, the Horde could be seen as the baddies for exploiting the wound for their own ends. In the book the horde goblins are portrayed as vicious invaders slaughtering any innocent who dared approach the sword of sargeras. There's no ambiguity to it the Goblins are the bad guys. So this makes me think Horde are going to become the villains of the story rather than just another faction with different ideals.
I will stand by my comment of saying all the Windrunners should be removed.
Horde allied Goblins are definitely some of the worst, there's Goblins who realize "Yeah, we can make some cash off both sides if we're neutral that's the smart thing to do, don't bother anyone except those who bother us" And then there's the Bilgewater Cartel who literally murders whoever they feel like.
To be fair in regards to Anduin, he is absolutely in the right about the Horde being denied access to Azerite. The moment the goblins got their hands on it they probably began to make weapons out of it, which was at a time when the Alliance still wasn't even sure what the hell it was. Secondly, Anduin is probably one of the few characters in the lore who can be said to be good. I know a lot of people decry his attempts to make peace, but this is perfectly in-line with his devotion as a priest, and so many other characters in the Alliance, and even some in the Horde (Bane, Hamuul).
That's exactly what I mean, the ambiguity just isn't there right now. You can't really sympathise with either side depending on their ideals, one side is being painted as justified and good, and the other as dangerous and reckless. I think it would be really lame for them to just pull out the whole ~corrupt warcheif~ plotline again- but I can't really see this going any other way unless they want the Horde as a whole to become villains, or they are setting up a really really convoluted redemption arc.
Are we all going to dismiss the implications that the light is also somewhat of mind-control-y and not exactly "good" (even with "good" intentions)? Anduin is a priest/paladain or something, right? He's been following the light since he was a little boy. I wonder if it has somehow affected his judgement.
Yeah, they bought that whole angle in with Xe'ra. But Anduin isn't some bitch who's cowtailing to the light. All of his teachings and political upbringing have taught him peace, not the Light. He learnt from Varian that there's a time for Peace, and a time for War. "The Horde musn't have this" is pretty clear, he knows War is on the cards here. He even seems to be ignoring Genn's (totally justified - fuck the forsaken) warboner.
I don't see how anyone accepted Sylvanas as leadership. You think after Vol'jin got ran through they'd all be skeptical as fuck, because there was some demonic corruption seeping through that wound, and then appointing Sylvanas for no other reason when "the loa told me"? I mean there is a very clear disregard of the horde values with the Forsaken. The shit that they pulled at the Wraithgate, Unleashing the Plague in Gilneas, still developing a plague that is designed to wipe out the living, and all around doing completely horrible shit. I have a hard time seeing that anyone in the Horde trust them. Sylvanas has always been outright shown to be a bitch. There should have been some rioting or something in Orgimmar when she stepped up. You think the Tauren and Pandaren would be noping the fuck out right now. Mostly the Tauren with the burning of Teldrassil.
Fuck, even the Blood Elves, a race that had the least problem with the forsaken and their moral ambiguity when they were introduced- have since become overly pious high elves, many now so infused with holy magic from the restored sunwell that the light is gushing from their eyes. How is everyone just cool with the current direction of the faction? lol.
Having a Garrosh 2.0 would be lame as fuck, but if it means we can finally get rid of Sylvanas, I'll take the hit.
just have Lor'themar rule already. hell here's a fucking idea. rebuild fucking Silvermoon already. it's been an eternity, you'd think the blood elves could do it by now.
garrosh is that you
no because i actually like the blood elves and tauren. the rest except for a select few orcs are just mindboggingly retarded.
Is it time for another round of #SaurfangForWarchief?
I'm almost starting to buy into the rumors that Sylvannas is going to bugger off and start her own undead faction. It's the only payoff I can see making any sense with the current direction the plot is taking, without being immensely disappointing.
sylvanas dies or becomes evil or whatever and players must embark on an epic quest to write some more characters into the story because fuck Blizzard killed them all.
maybe if players hadn't had a bf when they introduced original villians in Mists we would have had more by now
Making Vol'jin warchief at the end of Mists, having him do literally nothing throughout Warlords, then killing him in the opening scenes of Legion was dumb. Maybe Blizzard are going to bring him back, and that is why Sylvanas is trying to acquire all of this power.
Scaling is completely fucked. I've seen level 110 mobs with as little as ~5k HP, while I just ran into a basilisk at level 104 that had almost 20k HP.
tbh i read that as "Garithos is that you". let's be honest though, what the fuck is up with the writers at blizzard? why do they insist on having these faux-pre-teen storylines? why can't they step it up hard and give us an interesting and complex plot between the races and factions. something that isn't just a Villain of the Month(s) thing. and for the love of god why do they have so few people still working on it now? is the WoW team just a skeleton crew at this point? each time players ask for something they give us the worst excuse of "no resources" or "No time" fucking please you guys are running the still most popular MMO on the market since 2004, the company itself is massive and earns a sickeningly ridiculous amount of money a year and you can't take the time to give us an improve character creator? remember the dance studio thing? or how about proper player housing instead of garrisons. it's just amazing how one company can be so inept at providing a large amount of content that isn't just 10 new dungeons and 3-4 new raids every 3-4 years.
are there any EU facepunch communities yet? preferably alliance
theres a terrible guild on argent dawn named <Facepunch>
I seem to recall them boasting before legion that the WoW team has never been bigger in terms of people working on it and I assume Legion did well so I don't see why that would change.
We at least know thrall is taking vol'jins urn on adventures right? I have tried to avoid spoilers on the PTR, but i remember the picture of thrall holding it during blizzcon.
The Vol'jin storyline is still there, Thrall not so much.
Seeing Thrall eat shit in the opening for Legion was honestly the perfect send off for that character for me.
The Thrall storyline was probably cancelled after Metzen got into a motorcycle accident and had spinal surgery because of it.
He's voicing Varian in one of Jaina's dark flashbacks though.
